    If anyone needs a text version of the procedure, pre-throw checklist, and main throwing cue:
    Procedure:
    1. One-leg throws, 10 at 50% (half) effort:
    -Back fingers only, backloaded grip
    2. Standstill throws, 10 at 50% (half) effort:
    -4 fingers with no thumb, backloaded grip
    3. Standstill throws, 10 at 50% (half) effort:
    -Full grip with thumb, backloaded grip
    4. One-step throws, 10 at 50% (half) effort:
    -Full grip with thumb, backloaded grip
    5. X-step throws, 10 at 50% (half) effort:
    -Full grip with thumb, backloaded grip
    Pre-throw checklist for the entire session:
    -Shoulder/scapula is depressed and protracted
    -Elbow is up high and far away from body
    -Disc is underneath or in front of right pec (depending on your pullthrough height)
    Main throwing cue for the entire session:
    Once you are coiled back, throw by:
    -Curling the disc through your right armpit as you squeeze the back fingers

      I just tried following this routine and I noticed some discomfort in my knee when doing the one leg throws. What’s the benefit to doing one leg throws vs. stand still throws?

    • @NickKrush.DGandFit
      @NickKrush.DGandFit  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@lukasnolta9510 I would skip the 1-legs then, the benefits of them aren't worth the risk if your body's not agreeing with the movement (it's common for 1-legs to feel awkward for some people's knees and hips).
      The benefit is that they isolate the throwing arm and reduce lateral movement, but you can just throw standstills at 25% effort instead 👍

    Great stuff, Nick! This is a great synopsis of the back loaded messaging you've been giving in your recent videos. I had a big revelation today that started from a session of back loaded one-legged throws (per the training plan you shared in a prior video).
    I was successfully throwing nose down with back fingers only, and even with back and front fingers things were looking good. But... as soon as i added my thumb, my nose angles went positive again. After much frustration, i realized that i was forcing the nose of the disc up with the meat around the bottom knuckle of my thumb in my normal power grip. I'm able to fix the problem if i intentionally leave a gap between the disc and the bottom knuckle of my thumb, pressing only the pad of the thumb into the top of the disc, just as you show here. I think this is a grip topic that's rarely discussed. Thanks for the knowledge, dude! Loving your videos!

    • @NickKrush.DGandFit

    Hell yeah man! Excited to try this out. I've been struggling with terrible nose angle (5-9 degrees) as my speed's been increasing. The turn the key prompt has been working, but like you mention, it's very unreliable at my skill level and the wobble/nose/hyzer all get messed up
    Gonna have to wait a few weeks as I've got some of that bad soreness in my middle finger due to recent high throwing volume, but I'll update this thread with my results.
    Cheers!

      Just got back at it today. The results were pretty awesome! I was able to get back fingers only to about -5 and same with no thumb grip. My main issue now is when I go 80% with my thumb on the plate, I get about 2 degrees of nose up. I haven't practiced this too much yet, but I'm pretty sure the nose up angle on the bigger throws are caused by muscle memory which I'll have to work on replacing. Thanks so much for this video!

      @@michelgleeson708 that's amazing! thank you for reporting back I really appreciate it.
      The nose popping back up at high power levels happens to nearly everyone when they first make these changes, so that should naturally improve over time.
      I've also noticed that focusing on the backloaded squeeze while still hooking the index finger into the rim hard through the elbow extension at the end of the throw can help mitigate some of the grip and nose issues at high power.

    i grip the disc without my thumb "at first" placing it in my hand in a nose down fashion , my middle and ring finger are mainly on the rim but slightly on the plate too , my index finger is doing nothing atm , my pinky i straighten out onto the plate of the disc which locks in that nose down angle , i then gently put my index finger on the plate of the disc mostly but barely on the rim too with no strength and then my thumb finds my index finger and touches it through the plate somewhat and that sounds like a lot but its naturally done in seconds now without thinking about it really..

Backloading the grip to get the nose down eventually lead me to completely remove my pinky from my drivers. This allowed me to focus on flexing the muscles on the bottom of my forearm only throughout the throw. I then focused on a full "reach back," while keeping the elbow out and pulling through the arm pit. I launched several shots over 540. But my new record is 647’! Now on to 700+"! "Back loading" is something I've started doing more from experimenting with grip over months too.
    I've never made the connection of tension in those muscles help aid to keep the wrist down.
    I have been applying more pressure with my ring and middle, I've had instances of applying too much with my pinky actually causing grip locks... But maybe I should try lifting pressure off my middle and apply more with my ring for more nose down consistency?
    The other question. Have you noticed differences on spin rate depending on which finger is applying the most grip pressure?

    • @NickKrush.DGandFit
      @NickKrush.DGandFit  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I have not personally seen a difference in spin purely from grip pressure location (provided my index finger is still hooking the disc properly at the release point). However, the back finger only grip (used on the 1-legs) will reduce spin since the index finger is not involved at all.

    Hey amazing video! I love the drill with segmenting from one leg to full x step, I caught ur video a while back and did this drill before a round and felt a bit more consistency. I had a really big question with this though, I noticed a snap and release consistency in my grip when i started FRONT loading, not back loading, and I would feel the disc rip off of my index finger, that got me to a consistent golf line around 375. Any thoughts on front vs backloading and why you prefer back? If its a night/day type of thing it might be worth it for me to drill some of it, I personally gravitated towards a front loaded grip, and i fan grip up to 10 speeds, switch to power. Its very interesting to hear you say you backload but still feel the front snap/hook. Thanks!
    edit: for clarification, I am gripping the entire disc at around 70-85% strength, but definitely leaning towards gripping harder on the front 3 fingers

    • @NickKrush.DGandFit
      @NickKrush.DGandFit  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you for watching! There's a lot of individuality about the perceived front loading vs. back loading, so it's possible you are getting more snap because the index and thumb are hooking the disc better for that final pivot before release.
      If you can do that and maintain good nose angle then it's a perfect mixture of clamping pressure at different times of the throw. Some people maintain ulnar deviation and humerus internal rotation (high elbow) with lots of frontloading 👍

      This is super common so no stress. It usually can be any of these things or a combination of multiple:
      -Reachback creeps up from body dropping into brace on one-step or x-step, causing swoopy pullthrough and elbow drop
      -Shoulders rotate too fast for arm to keep up with, causing shallow pocket and elbow drop (and potentially death grip induced radial deviation)
      -Back fingers aren't yet adjusted to the grip demands of one-steps and x-steps

    So regarding grip pressure direction- given top of disc is “up” and rim is “in”- what do you find for performance results if squeezing the fingers “in” rather than “up”? Is there a difference in spin or control of angle? Some of the lessons in a popular training program specify this difference but do not go beyond “do it this way”. Considering physiological differences, injuries, mobility concerns, etc some grips may naturally drift toward or away from certain subtleties and I am curious if it can be a distinction without a difference, or if there is a specific application for direction of grip pressure.

    • @NickKrush.DGandFit
      @NickKrush.DGandFit  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Do you throw max distance with back loaded grip? should people adapt to more front loading after getting the nose andle corrected with this drill. Seems most resources recommend front loafing for distance shots.
    Would be happy to see video and your thoughts on how to train the "tug" where disc pivots around index finger and accelerates.

    • @NickKrush.DGandFit
      @NickKrush.DGandFit  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I am still experimenting with it but for now, I am backloading everything to make sure my nose angle habits maintain in the near term.
      I've noticed that perceived frontloading vs. backloading pressure varies a lot from person to person, but when throwing at our power limit we all likely use strong clamping of all 4 fingers at the end of the throw. The important thing is to maintain ulnar deviation and internal rotation of the humerus at release 👍

      You can look for indicators of positive nose angle from the way discs are flying such as air bouncing, flying more overstable than the flight numbers suggest, or even a nose-up attitude on a side view video.
      If you start throwing more nose down you'll notice your discs turn more and will usually have more forward penetration during the fade portion of flight.

    @man0utoftime 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I'm surprised to hear that target nose angle is -2 to -5 deg. I always assumed "nose down" was an overcorrection for a target close to 0, simply equal to launch angle. Curious why negative, aerodynamically, would be optimal because it seems like you would be *pushing* the top of the disc, creating drag (i.e. as opposed to minimal drag profile)

    • @NickKrush.DGandFit
      @NickKrush.DGandFit  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I give an explanation for the nose down physics at 2:37 into this video:
      th-cam.com/video/GlYIO6Nv2Ak/w-d-xo.htmlsi=52WW2_-p6YwjyFEr&t=157
      Just in case that link doesn't work I'll give a quick summary:
      -Descent rate increases during the latter portion of flight
      -This causes angle of attack (nose angle) to increase substantially
      -This substantially increases drag and the leftward gyroscopic precession (fade), which decreases lift
      -By throwing mildly nose down at release, we cause a slight decrease in lift and slight increase in drag initially
      -But, because it drastically minimizes the positive nose angle later in flight, it produces the best aggregate aero conditions over the entirety of the flight
