I'm just loop to loop, I find it cleaner and the new loops have a very resilient finish to them so the tippet doesn't seem to eat away at the loop like the lines of years past.
Would you say for a 6WT Stillwater rod I should better go for a 10 ft or is a 9ft good enough with distance and wind in mind if you’re casting well? Does this foot more give you any real advantage really?! Never fished a 10ft yet maximum 9ft.
Great Fish! Thank you for this segment. Very helpful! Your boys are lucky they have you to pass on your knowledge of how to do it right! Well done.
Thanks Noel, appreciate it and thanks for following the channel.
That old school Soft hackle has not only saved the day on occasion, but resulted in stellar fishing and a must have in my arsenal! Simple but Deadly!
I love the mini leech on lakes in CO! Nice camera work by your son. Happy father's day!
We call our leeches, “greenie weenies”… olive marabou . Absolutely killer in CO lakes
You’re the man for sharing setups! Not everyone likes to share. I try to give as
much info as I can to people when they ask.
as a beginner thankyou for that way of thinking🙂
The O'Pros third hand has been my best friend when carrying two rods ;)
Right, surprised he doesn’t have one. Or know about it.
It’s perfect
I live in south west washington and i knew that you were in eastern washington as soon as i saw the mountains
Appreciate the videos you make, as someone that’s just getting into fly fishing it’s a big help
You bet, I love what I do here at Red's!
Beautiful fish
When you fish larger streamers do you use a level leader or a tapered leader?
Good luck fishing with your son. Thanks for the information
Great video Joe and thanks for sharing your set ups! How are you attaching that 4x tippet to your sink tips? Do you just loop knot it on?

Beautiful fish.....

The 10' is really nice for float tubes or sitting in boats, or deep wading but the 9' rod will work just fine until you bump into challenges.
Are you using a versa leader for your sink tip and are you tying the 4x tippet straight to your fly line? Great vid as allways.
25 on the fly was a great experience. Will be looking forward to the guided trip my team won. See you soon Joe
You bet dude, let's go! We'll get out there soon. I'll find a weekend day that works.
Nice stuff Joe...and especially with your son. One can tell you're fishing out West by the size of the net!..LOL, LOL...
Ha yea big net, big fish right. We have some really cool fisheries near here.
What weight rod were you fishing the soft hackle on?
#5 my friend if I remember correctly, anything #4-6 will work great as long as the fly size isn't too big.
Whats your go to size on the partridge
Typically a #14 so you don't bend a hook out.
Nice catching bro
great fish
Like the Exo shirt!
Love my Exo packs man. Put a beating on the K2 for about 5 years, got the K3 last year and love it. Great gear!
great. greetings from Indonesian anglers
How long are the tips you use on each?
Typically just 10' - I think you are referring to the clear tip line. It's just enough to get down into the zone.
What lines are you using?
Here is my favorite lake line, redsflyfishing.com/collections/lake-fly-lines/products/rio-sub-surface-elite-camolux
where is this? Lake ...?
It looks like Lake Lenore in Grant County, Washington.
