The 1982 ECM was a one year only. It was weak and had many programming flaws that GM improved with the 1984. With the 1982, you couldn’t even do an intake, a cam, or most other performance upgrades. The 84 allows it. Lastly, there is an abundant supply of 84s out there if you ever need replacement. 1982 is nearly impossible to find.
Pretty car
Did it actually end up fixing your surge issues?
I want to ask you if you still have the old ECM and if it’s for sale or not
Great video.. May I ask why you swapped it?

What does it cost to replace the eco with the 84 version?
Hi Andy, any advice where I could get the ECU wire harness to plug into the 1984 ecu? The original harness melted on the one side of the plug! Tx
The harness is the same for ‘82 and ‘84. So if you have an ‘82, it will plug right up.
I am looking for a core for my 82, I basically need a resistor that burnt out in mine if you are willing to sell that one.
Did you use the prom from the 82 ECM or use the one in the 1984? Tx
I swapped out the whole unit. So now my ‘82 has an ECM and prom from an ‘84
I'd like to find aan 84 ECM for my 82 Vette. Where did you find it? TIA
I found mine on eBay. Just have to make sure it came from an Automatic car.
