The street food in Sri Lanka is incredibly flavourful and delicious. Today we’re in Galle, Sri Lanka, exploring the Galle Fort on an epic food tour around the old town tasting some of the best street food in Sri Lanka.
We kicked off our Galle Fort food tour at a place for a traditional Sri Lankan breakfast of hoppers and roti. Hoppers and roti are a very popular Sri Lankan food that is traditionally eaten for breakfast. These hoppers and roti were made fresh by hand at a very local shop, the ultimate traditional Sri Lankan street food breakfast.
We continued our Galle Fort food tour tasting rice and curry, brinjal moju and kulla mixed rice. There are some very delicious street foods in Sri Lanka to taste, and on this Sri Lanka food tour we tasted all the local specialties, including these popular foods in Galle, Sri Lanka.

The dishes in this episode seems close to southeast Asian cuisine, especially with ingredients like rice coconut, swamp cabbage, (unripe jackfruit), and eggplants to name a few. The mix of tomatoes, onions, and green chillies are sort of common PH household "side dish" to fried/grilled grilled fish and meat. I also grew up eating my share of fried eggplants before deciding I like them better roasted.
I am very interested in the ginger beer. I might attempt making one for myself some time. 😊

Cris, we agree there were a few similarities in the cuisine here in Galle to SEAsian. The curries with coconut milk were delish, actually all the curries were just so flavourful and tasty. The food in Sri Lanka is seriously incredible, we're really enjoying exploring it.

I think they didn't put enough chili powder and crushed chili flakes
Even without chili powder or flakes, the addition of sugar and tamarind pulp is enough to give it that dark caramel color.(trust me, I've made it many a time). I think, as with most touristy places, they change the recipe to suit foreinge palates, and still use the original name.@@lance202520
