- Is Anxiety a Villain or Hero in Inside Out 2? Anxiety is set up as the main antagonist for much of Inside Out 2, but she isn’t a bad guy. Even though she banishes the main characters from Headquarters, her goal is to help Riley grow. As the story unfolds, Anxiety becomes more desperate to "help" Riley prepare for an uncertain future, causing Riley to distance herself from her friends and make poor choices. Anxiety's actions come from a genuine belief that she's helping Riley, but she ends up causing a panic attack. Unlike a typical villain, Anxiety is more of a direct contrast to Joy. Both take charge of managing Riley's emotions, are firm in their beliefs, and eventually learn to let go. Joy goes through a similar journey, realizing she needs to let go of Riley's old Sense of Self for a new one to develop. The film’s message echoes the first Inside Out: all emotions need to be recognized and embraced for Riley to grow. By the end, the new emotions, including Anxiety, are accepted as part of the group.

In the movie, *No one* is a villain. Everyone is misunderstood and are made of trouble which makes it beautiful and amazing! ❤

Yeah even the director of the movie said so himself.
Yeah, besides joy was like anxiety in the first movie, she wanted to get rid of sadness to make railey happy and anxiety got rid of the old emotions to protect railey
@@NichaGamer21yeah and that's why Joy said its time to let go. She had to let go so sadness can do her thing and Anxiety had to let go so Riley can take off the pressure off herself.
Villian or not most of them have a pretty sad story or different motive to help someone so yeah shes bad but not bad guy lol
Yeah no one is a VILLAIN in any of the inside out movies. But no one know about inside out 3 if that will exist or have a VILLAIN
Shes one of the best written antagonist
Frrrrrrr
She's not an antagonist
@@Luigisuperxmeh still counts.. Remember there are types of antagonists ranging from a bad guy to a redeemable villain
@@Kevsterlolzanxiety is a anti villain.. it's 50/50
@@Soft-Serve.Lightnin yep and an interesting one at that
Let's be honest, Riley doesnt suffer a panic attack near the end of the movie, it's an anxiety attack. Anxiety goes full blown melt down worrying about all the pressure on Riley and takes full control from the other new emotions.
It was a panic attack, panic attacks have the symptoms of Sweating a lot uncontrollable limb movements, heart racing and hyperventilating which was what Riley did and it lasts a short time but an anxiety attack lasts way longer 😊
@@cometboifever2294It is abd anxiety attack they almost have the same symptoms but different
@@cometboifever2294it was an anxiety attack it’s pretty easy to see knowing it’s caused by ANXIETY
finally somebody that says it!
I've been suffering from anxiety attacks for a while and seeing it represented in movies for kids just makes me feel so understood
(I haven't seen the film yet, my parents think I might be a bit too old for it)
a panic attack can be caused by anxiety. in psychology, an anxiety attack is a more long term bout of intense anxious feelings, but panic attacks are very short and sudden. it’s easy to confuse the two but a google search quickly clears it up.
Inside Out 1: Every emotion is important to Riley to shape her expression.
Inside Out 2: Every memory is important to Riley to build a logical sense of self.
It is kinda disappointing how it looks like Joy didn't really learn that much from the first movie...
Back then she was suppressing Riley's "negative" emotions, now she was getting rid of her "negative" memories.
I'm putting them in quote marks since they're also needed for Riley to express her feelings and build a more secure and genuine sense of self.
@@fontanna888 yeah I hope she learned now and won't try to push away negative thinks
I thought they did a good job with that distinction. Her belief in herself at the end, where she's a good person, but she can be selfish, she's nice but she can be mean, that she's a winner, but she's not good enough...I think everyone can relate. I think Joy learned well in the first movie about the importance of all emotions, and then in the second, the importance of belief in oneself not always being good all the time. Anxiety, despite herself, was trying to make Riley better.
@@fontanna888Yeah, but she didn’t really regress as a character, not accepting bad things is what we do as people all the time and it’s not like her idea that Reilly needs good experiences changed that much from the first, she just acknowledged that ALL emotions can provide USEFUL experiences. Because of this, I think the movies maybe had two different lessons.
Inside Out 1: All emotions are good, at least in moderation.
Inside Out 2: As a person, you aren’t perfect, and will have bad sides to you that you can’t just ignore, but that’s okay.
they confirmed that Anxiety isn't a villan.
She just worries too much and causes unwanted harm
The worse type of villain
@@groovypacosta1212no anxiety was so good
That's exactly how anxiety works in real life, when you have to less of it your not cautious of what could be happening, if you have to much you might have a panic attack. This movie describes how emotions work PERFECTLY.
but do yall not realize that’s what anxiety is ???? 😂 how can an emotion be a villain?
@@PaolaTheTimeLord We do know an emotion cannot be a villain. The creator is just milking dry this movie with the wrong questions.
"You are a bad guy but this does not mean you are a bad guy."

Anti-villain is more accurate.

Ugh bro I love anxiety as a character she's just so like relatable and I love her facial expressions and how shebuses her hair to comfort herself and everything about her she's just like my favorite bro 😭🙏
Anxiety and Joy were (unintentionally) trying to take control over Riley because they wanted the best for her. Instead, that became the main problem.
She one of the best Pixar antagonists in a long time in my opinion
Anxiety is someone who thought they understood a school assignment, went full steam ahead, and then joy comes along and tells them you read a part wrong, you were meant to do this. Then become study buddies where joy helps when they get off the assignment
anxiety: most chaotic anti-hero!
She’s actually an anti-villain. Does bad things for a good reason
@@SMLYTPMovies my bad
She’s not a villain, but she is an antagonist
anxiety is like sadness in the first movie.
True :)
She reminded me of Joy more, considering Joy tried to get rid of Sadness in the first movie to protect Riley.
@@aaronjohnson4404 oh man your right!!!!anxiety pulled a joy on joy
No, she is Joy in the first movie !
You are miss understude the movie !
What Anxiety did is exact same thing as what old Joy did 😂
No she was acting like how Joy was acting in the first movie to Sadness.
First, she's a girl and she is not a villain. She was just trying to change Riley to someone that she wanted to be but anxiety had an attack to Riley which that made joy, stop anxiety and make anxiety calm enjoy it, makes her friends with the group and her best friends❤
Summery: Anxiety is an antihero.
She’s actually an anti-villain. They’re consistently mixed up
I feel that Anxiety is a Anti-Hero
the thing about inside out is that there are no villains just different emotions with different points of view and that's what makes the film so cool
So she just like joy in inside out 1 she always tried to make sure that the other emotion impacted the less possible and tried to boss they all mainly sadness she wanted Riley to almost only feel joy
One thing I love about anxiety is that she’s literally the worse case scenario version of joy from the last movie.
The Anxiety' Is Like To Be" A Hero
So The Anxiety' Didn't Not's Know
Do' Evi'l'' Is Do' Power Every Day And Night
This is why each emotion should have equal control of Riley so no one emotion can take full control and they would all be required to work together to ensure Riley functions properly.
So, is she technically a anti hero.
Or an anti-Villain
Anti Villain
No, in this movie, there is no hero or villian.
There is just Joy and Joy 2.0 😂😂😂
Aint no way bro said
“She isnt a bad guy”💀
"guy" excuse me but the creator of the video, u need to correct ur spelling
Anxiety was that villian that understood that have made a mistake and joined main protagonists.
Anxiety isn't a Villain, Anxiety experiences a similar thing that Joy experienced in the first movie. In my opinion, its a thing of "Too Much of one Emotion is just too much". Jpy took too much Control in the first movie which caused a series of events thay sent Riley down and weord path. Anxiety did that same thing once introduced.
Anxiety looks like a character from Wallace and Gromit
Bro I’ve basically already watched the whole movie on this guys channel
Anxiety is also kinda NUTS!
Although i like the movie, i think they could've easily made her a full-on villain. Unfortunately, they couldn't because of the rules they established in the first movie, about how all emotions are good for Riley, which made it difficult for them when they added emotions that inherently AREN'T good for Riley.
Say whatever you want, but Anxiety and Envy are realistically NOT emotions to indulge.
Anxiety is just fear.
💛💛🧡🧡 I love that she is a huge fan of joy and a direct contrast to joy 😊 😃 😄 ☺️
Anxiety is neither a hero and villain. She's an emotion. She's done both good and bad things. The message of the movies is that it's okay to let your emotions be present. Calling Anxiety a villain wouldn't be any different from calling Sadness a villain, or any other emotion for that matter. And potraying them like inherently bad is sending a harmful message
The newbie emotions are what the Control Center deserves. WE NEED more sophisticated ones
I’m excited for the potential part 3, seeing all the emotions get = screen time will make the movie better
Anxiety just do the exact same thing as what Joy did in the first movie 😂😂😂
Growth is learning how to manage your anxiety which is what they learn to do in the end
Honestly, anxiety was basically joy in the first movie times 100 instead of just suppressing one emotion and letting them stay in headquarters she got rid of the five core emotions and trapped them in a jar and instead of just controlling console all the times she controlled Riley’s beliefs and was only focusing on what could wrong all the time only all the time and pushing Riley really hard. Like Joy in the first movie, anxiety only suppressed the emotions she believed that Riley didn’t need anymore so yeah, she was the antagonist in this movie, but she became an antihero after joy helped her.
It's more like anxiety is an anti hero in the movie rather than a cold hearted antagonist.
If Anxiety is the villain of this movie, Joy is the villain of the first.
Oh THats ThE StuFf
Envy is so adorable😍😍
Everyone: hero
Me: omg anxiety is so annoying😡😡😡😡😡
Finally someone has spoken it
I still can’t unsee the fact that anxiety looks like a orange smurf
she's a bad guy for a good reason (which is to keep Riley happy). Same for joy
Finally someone understood anxiety was only trying to help riley bruh
OK, I just have to say this anxiety totally broke Joy’s ankles and that one scene
“She isn’t a bad guy” 😂😂
At first anxiety was tried to control Riley all by herself so she wanted the new emotions to take over Riley but she ended up with a panic attack because anxiety was over control of Riley and that’s why Riley almost died ❤😮
if I was joy when anxiety threw away that belief core, I would grab anxiety, put her in that flinger thing, and tell her not to come back up to headquarters until she finds it. ❤
"but she isn't a bad guy"😂
It must be exhausting always rooting for the... ✨️ *ANTI-HERO* ✨️
Shes an anti-hero. Wanting a good thing, the same goal as Joy, the protagonist, but have a different and conflicting way of getting it
There are no villains. Anxiety just is an emotion.
Anxiety is like Alma Madrigal from Encanto, Ming lee from Turning Red and Bernie Lumen from Elemental, all of them were driven by good intentions, but the actions they used led them to the wrong path, and they did not realize their mistakes until the end of their respective film.
Not gonna lie, Anxiety's plan was probably the best one yet, and i think Riley had to let Anxiety "define" her future.
Anxiety is considered the antagonist NOT the villain, she gets redeemed at the end
Anxiety cooked
"But SHE isn't a bad GUY"
My brain is not braining
If anything joy was the villain because she stunted Riley's growth causing anxiety to face the repercussions of joys actions.
By only saving good memories she was protecting Riley but by protecting Riley it left her and the emotions unable to handle anxiety when it came.
In a way I saw the end as them healthily took care of anxiety while not erasing it entirely like it was a child In need of emotional and personal direction so it wouldn't harm Riley whilst still holding an important role.
There are no villains, just different emotions
Anxiety is literally just anxiety.
it feels like anxiety is an anti hero
Anti-hero- doing all the wrong things but for all the right reasons
Wow, this the first video by this guy that isnt bullshit. like he isn't saying non-facts or over inflating a an Easter egg. he actually has a good point about anxiety and themes of the movie.
Anxiety is my main emotion. Forget joy, i just have enui, amger and anxiety. 🤣😭☠️
Did i hear just "she isnt a bad guy" 😅
I wonder what would happen in Inside Out 3 if pixar would make one...
Maybe college aged Riley, where maybe she’s 18. Or younger like 16. Who knows. Or 20s and becomes a mom herself. Amy Poehler wants to explore more on it and would love to play Joy again for as long as she can.
Anxiety *is not a villan*. She just tried her best for Riley to win In hockey and had an anxiety attack
Anxiety looks so happy in her chair w her tea in the beginning ❤ 🥹
Anxiety is an anti-hero
Theory: those blobs in long term might be braincells
What I heard: INSIETY.
What he said: Anxiety.
😭😭😭😭
Antagonist does not automatically equal villain. She’s an antagonist but not a villain
*ANXIETY ATTACK!*
Sorry, had to get that out...
Take a slice x anxiety
"The road to hell is paved with good intentions"
"bad GUY" then "SHE locked up"
She's an ethical antagonist. Not all antagonists are villains or heroes for that matter.
I have been in and out of therapy for 34 years . I have anxiety and depressive disorders and Complex PTSD. Anxiety kind of runs my life, with sadness and fear in having some strong role too. I have anger and disgust, but mostly self-directed.
Anxiety in Inside Out 2 just IS. She is not a hero or villain. By the way, the frenetic energy and spiraling felt very accurate. Unlike Riley, I have lost any connection to Joy. It has been over 3 years since I felt it. How Riley looked when she had her panic attack was pretty accurate. If she had blacked out it may have been pretty close to some of my intense panic/anxiety attacks. 😢 It isn't fun to have them often you wake in the middle of the night. My sense of self remains locked into a more intense version of "I'm not good enough."

She is not a villain she is an antagonist there is a difference
Anxiety basically represents those overbearing parents who never let their children make their own decisions and only think about what's best for them. IOW, she has good intentions, but has a really bad way of showing it.
Anxiety is an antagonist. She causes problems, but not on purpose.

Did you notice orange appearing in the outside world when anxiety started to rule the command centre?
she’s literally the flash 💀💀💀💨💨💨

I wouldn't be surprised if Anxiety ends up on Mediazealot's villains too stupid to win.
id consider her an ETHICAL villan, what she is doing to riley is obviously wrong, but she had all the right reasons to do so
Anxiety exists:
Me: “bro no way we got the- *wubbox noises* -emotion” 😂😂😂😂
In this movie(s) there is no real villain, not even her fears should considered ones as they're only manifestations of Fear's fears if that makes sense
she said sorry
Antagonist and villain aren't the same. Anxiety plays a role in a healthy mind and exists to help Riley. But just like the first movie, we're seeing what happens when one emotion runs wild and dictates your entire life. Anxiety is the same as Joy was in the first movie, it's just that the damage she causes is much more obvious.
She isn't a bad guy..
She was a bad girl, she did some bad things
I suffer from anxiety/ticks what are uncanchrolable jitering and twitching
I want an electric picture frame but it's shaped memory bubble
For me shes like an anti hero? I guess
