Was an absolute pleasure having you reviews my Wagon! A few tasty mods done.. but I think ill be calling you back for a re-run once that supercharger is thrown in ;)
Awesome looking wagon Treayy. By the way, the colour is pronounced the way it is spelled, Russian with a P in front of it. Prussian Steel. Like the word Crush. Prush. Prusshan. Prussian. Beautiful car, nonetheless, it is not Peruse-sian.
Your current cam with that lump wont suit a supercharger. I'd be interested to know the specs and what HTP say about adding a blower. Hopefully they future proofed you knowing your intentions.
Just for anybody wondering, I tuned the car - the reason why the numbers might seem “low” is because the converter slips more than a stock stall would as it’s a higher stall speed. Hence it’ll show a slightly lower number than a stock converter, and a fair amount lower than a manual. And there is a LOT of work in that transmission tune. Hence why it shifts how it does haha.
@@RossReviewsau would of liked to have seen a 0-100 with some foot brake launch to bring the rpm up. 4.7 or something would been awesome. Always next time!
@alexmann3309 Hey Alex, I own a 2017 VF SV6 series 2. I wanted to install custom headers and a full exhaust. However, I was advised this isn’t possible with the alloy head and factory headers being one unit. Is that right? And what’s your opinion on the OTR cold intake systems and best maker??
@@xxHydroponicxx yeah mate, you just run a high flow head pipe. With a high flow cat. Then full exhaust. OTR’s are all much of a muchness, VCM ones have always been good!
Hello Ross, really enjoyed your first Queensland review. It’s a very nice sounding and looking commodore. He sure has turned this wagon into a really nice car. It is a credit to him for what he has done. Looking forward to the rest of your reviews from Queensland.
As someone who has a Prussian steel storm wagon as well, (almost stock) if anyone tells me to wrap it I'm deleting their number, it's my favourite colour on any car, gm smashed it out of the park with it.
When you upgrade the brakes bear in mind you will also have to change your front rims, the brembos reqiure a 29 offset rim for clearance. enjoy the ride Treay.
Yep it will, I have a 2014 vf ss storm sedan, 6 litre supercharged 6 speed manual, not only do I have the brembo upgrade but the disks have also been upgrade further to DBA T5 2 piece. And you need all of it. 😆
A good time for a 20” wheeled heavy car. The large cam helps reduce wheel spin at low speeds to get traction and a decent time. Tyres must be half decent too. Conversion 0-100 is 5.2secs.
Man that thing is a sleeper the owner is a mad & big C haha,he's done an excellent job with this wagon I love everything about it,cheers Johnny & Treay top vid guys.

You don’t need a different coverta for a large cam it will compliment it but it’s required and untrue ur tuner is full of it I had a turbo killer cam in my LS and it was manual biggest u could get without modding ur heads it would worked behind a standard converta aswell
When it comes to optioning a larger cam a stall converter is the only way unless you want it do drive like shit. Most workshops want the best possible drivability while still being able to push power.
My partner has a VF II SV6... haha she got it before I met her. I told her she should have got the SS. With all that said, I would be interested to know how easy the swap was from an electronics point of view. All the modules in cars these days that speak to each other via canbus. Was a full body loom needed, or did the motor roughly drop in with just an ECU required and a few pin-changes on the loom?
Perhaps a stupid question but - would it not have been easier/cheaper to get an SS wagon and swap the badges and exhaust tips? Or is this more a project where the exercise of LS swapping something is the goal?
u do not need a brake upgrade, what makes you stop faster is a bigger contact patch of rubber to the ground, bigger brakes just disperse the heat more efficently..... there are several videos on you tube backing up everything im saying, Even with bigger brakes your tyre can only handle so much
The motor sure does sound amazing. Like Ross said though, they are a boat. All though, with how big modern hatchbacks have become these don't look all that much like land Yachts anymore.
Nice ride, noticed though the steering wheel shake with those twenty's on,same thing happened to me with my caprice twenty's look good but the feel is shit up front could be the brakes but. I did see Trey's vid and gyon vid you lapping in da pool and the skid gyon did, leaving you 😳. The meet looked insane. Nice wags and nice review 👍🇦🇺🍻
The wheels aren't the problem the drivetrain of ves is terrible (I own one) it's 100% something else. My 18s rub on the body and it's stock when I go to 20s I'll update this comment.
One can argue a VR38 GT-R motor would be the ultimate SV6 Upgrade given the history of Commodores using Nissan engines and the fact that the VR38 can produce over 3000 horsepower, something the LS would struggle with replicating.
gc cars nerang does a vf lfx (v6) to l77 (v8) conversion for $15,500. Cam and tune package $5500 or $6500 for stage 2 with the htp02 cam I think and the engine back may set you back $3500
He wanted this colour in the wagon.. I’m not sure they came with a V8 in this spec, regardless would be hard to find if he sold it.. so he decided to just swap in a V8. LS3 is better but still this rips good build
The Vfs are great cars only because i have one but to spend all that money to convert a v6 to v8 is pretty crazy should of traded the v6 for a ss or ssv and if going to all that effort of changing motors why keep it an auto as a manual would of been a way better option
@RossReviewsau My perspective towards modifying vehicles is different from others. My thoughts about this subject also don't apply to this specific vehicle exactly how I figured because it's supposed to be a sports car. Let me explain what I meant in my comment. Here's a question, how is it an upgrade if you entirely change what you're updating? You're going from a standard sports wagon to a performance vehicle that shouldn't necessarily be on a public road. It's not like the model doesn't have a performance trim, but the way I see it, changing drivetrains isn't an upgrade if you also change the original intended vehicle use. That's a rebuild. A dirt road paved over is still the same because it was changed to travel easier. Despite the location, that road changed into a neighborhood with curbs, sidewalks, homes, street lamps, is not the same road anymore. It wasn't updated, it was rebuilt into something else. If you change motors in an excavator for a larger one, that would be considered an update. If you attach a crane arm to the same machine, it's not. You've rebuilt it so that it does something different than intended. It's no longer considered an excavator.

@aznabihossain I see your point, and truthfully I don't have a problem with the vehicle. It's supposed to be a sports wagon from the factory despite what powertrain is used, and I mentioned that before I began my explanation. Had it been done to a Honda Civic, for example, that would be changing the intended purpose. I find V8 swaps incredibly mundane and overdone, and I also find people who want powerful cars on the public street to be conceited. I was taught that all vehicles are dangerous weapons, and you should practice trigger discipline every time you're out on public roads as if you had a loaded firearm pointing at people. Folks who understand where they can and can't have unrestricted vehicle performance shouldn't be a problem, but very few do understand, and I don't care for that level of ignorance. Maybe that sort of demeanor got in the way of an honest estimation of what I think of this rebuild. However, I still have a problem with this being considered an upgrade. Although an upgrade is a general term, I'd prefer the word to be used as rebuild.
