I have two of these and they are great. PiP is picture in picture (good to monitor something like a stream) and PBP is picture by picture or split screen which I use a lot on my proxmox virtual machine PC a lot. Built in KVM is also nice to have.
Hey mate, great video and review! I have a question for you. I'm planning on using this monitor for work, how does it work with split screen, is it comfortable? The idea is to have Excel and SQL opened on split screen. Also, which wall mount did get after replacing the old one, or which one would you recommend? Thanks!
Thanks very much, I find it comfortable for split screen, but keep in mind being a non curved screen it can be a bit awkward to see the parts of the windows closest to the corners and edges. With that said, I never used to have multiple windows open on my old screens and now consistently have multiple things open, web browser, terminal, vscode. It has been a great workflow improvement. I am embarrassed to say I am still using the wall mount from the video hahaha
Thanks very much! I am really happy with it. I should note, it was dimmer because it started in "eco mode", so once I switched it out of that it was comparable in brightness to my old monitor. Funnily enough, I actually put it back to eco mode after a bit because it was far easier on the eyes.
Thanks very much! I didn't use the original stand for longer than about 30 mins, so I don't recall, but I don't believe it offered much adjustment. If you mean rotatable as in using it vertically, I would not be able to say.
I own an MSI MAG401QR and have been very pleased with it. Out of curiosity, those who have one, have you bothered with the “Gaming Intelligence” app? While I haven’t used it much personally, I’m given to understand that it basically duplicates a lot of the built in menu settings. So you don’t have to use the knob on the back of the monitor to adjust settings. Instead you can just use your mouse. Same goes for the built in KVM,….
I don't do anything that requires any real color accuracy, with that said I designed some cards that I then had printed by a professional service and they looked correct to how they were designed with regards to color accuracy.
It's an incredible monitor, it just arrived today. I have a question: how do I turn off the screen (without turning off the PC)? I can't find a button for it.
It really is, congrats. I was also a bit stuck on that. To turn off the display without needing to touch the pc, push the red button on the back and hold it in for a few seconds and the display will turn off. To turn it back on is the same, push in and hold for a few seconds.
I see you are using MAC, I suppose for trading purposes and have many charts would be great, roght? Any split program in order to divide/separate the monitor in several zones/parts? Are you using the native resolution? Apparently another customer, said font was too little and was needed some program in order to use properly not native resolutions as well. Thanks!!
I don't use this monitor for any trading so I can't speak to that, and in terms of subdividing it into several zones I just manually move the windows to where I need them to be. I am using the native resolution and am quite happy with it. Text is truthfully a bit disappointing I suppose - only something I really noticed when using my older 27" 2k for something on my other machine and realized it was much sharper there. So definitely trade offs, but I am able to be far more efficient now thanks to being able to avoid having to open/close windows as I did before on the smaller monitor.
I am not entirely sure what you mean, but you should just be able to plug a regular hdmi or displayport cable into your laptop and connect to the monitor.
I just got this today. It came with two cables (power and another cable that connects tot he laptop). My laptop does not have a connector that is compatible with the cable it came with. Any recommendations?
Yes, that is called a displayport cable, and I am not surprised your laptop does not have one of those. Your laptop likely has an HDMI out port, so all you need to do is get an hdmi cable of the correct length and then you will be able to connect your laptop to the monitor as it does have an hdmi in port.
I have noticed after being off for a little bit (even 15 minutes) the monitor has a nasty oval shaped discoloration after being turned back on, this lasts about 5 minutes until it seemingly "warms up". Does anyone have any input on this?
@@danielgomezlopez3173 Truth be told it hasn't been off since I made that comment so I can't say for sure right now, but it doesn't seem like something that would go away.
I don't do any sort of graphic design work that requires complete accuracy, but I have not noticed anything odd in ps or graphically. I recently had some cards printed up that I made in ps on the monitor and they looked correct to what I designed them to be color wise.
I found the monitor way too bright. I actually had to download a 3rd party app to dim the brightness lower than it would allow. Great monitor otherwise.

Thanks for mentioning what those are hahah. That's an awesome setup with 2 of these, impressive!

Ohh. That's a really nice model. I also love the very large format flat monitors. Too bad it's much dimmer.

@@OminousIndustries that's awesome then.
BTW I'm getting my new workstation next week.
@@TheInternalNet That's exciting! Which model again, I recall it was a Lenovo correct?
@@OminousIndustries yes. That is right. Seems to have the most features for the best price. I really appreciate you remembering what machine.
@@TheInternalNet Of course, I appreciate all the support so it's only fair hahah!
great video, is this monitor rotatable?

It is a great monitor indeed. I have not used the app so I can't comment on the second part!
is out of the box color accuracy good or need to calibrate something?
I don't do anything that requires any real color accuracy, with that said I designed some cards that I then had printed by a professional service and they looked correct to how they were designed with regards to color accuracy.
May I ask how much it cost?
I paid $399, however I see it is on black friday sale at Amazon right now for $279, which I think is a very proper deal for this monitor.

How do you hook it up can you use the upstream connector to hook up to the laptop😊

I had an MSI MAG401QR monitor since about Black Friday 2023 and I haven’t seen this issue before.
If you have this issue, just send it back. They'll send you a new one as long as the warranty period hasn't expired.
is the stand height adjustable?
Unfortunately it is not. The height with the stand installed is very high, so I would heavily suggest a wall mount setup for this monitor.
@@OminousIndustries thanks for the reply!

Adobe RGB / DCI-P3 / sRGB 90% / 94% / 118%
Display Colors 1.07B (8 bits + FRC)

I also didn't want full brightness, I was very happy to find the eco mode and that is what I have been using since getting it.
