I agree with everyone above. Just picked up a 2018 Aprilia Tuono Factory strictly for the street, and was more than able to meet or exceed riding with the guys who track their bikes (on the twisty roads). Looking forward to the RSV4 for the track next year.
I saw on mcn that theres some images of an rs660, which had a prototype shown last years, its probably going to be revealed at the end of this year... they might also be working on the bigger brother also right? Hopefully but we wont see anything for sure untill fall...
Something you guys didn't mention that for me is a big selling point is the dealer network. I'm not sure how many people can say where their nearest Aprilia dealer is and they have been notorious for not getting parts out to their dealerships in a timely manor (although Ducati can sometimes suck at that too.) But for me the lack of dealer network and parts availability puts the Ducati on top.
Yeah, the guy at my local "Aprilia dealer" really wanted me to trade my Shiver in and buy an Indian last time I was there for parts. As if that would make any damn sense. That said, I've found for most things, ordering from AF1 is faster than trying to get shit through your own dealer. Sucks for my dealer but they aren't the ones with the actual parts stock and they won't ship the stuff right to my house. It's like... sorry you chose to locate yourself 40 miles from town but I'm not taking two hours out of my day to pick up the brake parts that fit 7 different bikes that you refuse to stock.
Same with mv, network SUCKS.... I wanted an f3 800 RC and was so set on getting it.... I found out it’s so hard to get mv parts and the dealer has a minimum order requirement before they came place the order. what kind of service is that.... now I going to wait a few months more and buy panigale V4
I think it's the youtube monetization change. I mean these channels do not really make a fraction of money they used to. That's why everyone is selling stuff and asking for patrons.
Every V4 Panigale review is of the S with Electronic suspension. Would like to see one with the standard bike with normal suspension and see how that goes. Price would be close to RSV4 RF. I love both bikes.

The worst audio I have heard in a motorcycle comparison video. The worst part is that the people responsible for it thought the sound quality was so good that they advertised their name at the start of the video. Jesus.
The audio was a bit funky in Part 1 but this wasn't too bad on speakers. As long as it's clear and the bike audio is good I'm not bothered. If it was music tracks I'd reconsider but for this it's fine for me.
I want your job. Great job guys as it was a good breakdown of the positives and negatives of these bikes. The heat of a Ducati, I had the 959, is a big killer where I live which is why I sold my bike.
Why does everyone talk shit about cruisecontrol on superbikes? like "idk if i would ever use it" "it's not really necessary on a superbike" i use it all the time on my s1000rr, it's probably the feature i use most... if i had to go down 20hp to keep my cruisecontrol, i would do it in a flash ;)
In a clear win for the Ducati you guys neglected to mention the fuel mileage. Abysmal on the Ape V4s (Tuono owner speaking) but actually not too terrible on the V4 Panigale. High 30s is what my friend is reporting on his. We rode on Sunday and my T was the limiting factor on our ride.
@@LuckyPause3d didn't they have a redesign or a major update a few years back when it won in superbike category? But yeah, I swapped running light bulbs in my BMW for LED. super easy mod and looks much better
I use cruise control on my RF all the time on road trips. I tested the V4 prior to buying the RF and the V4 made me sing for real at 180 in a heartbeat. Yea the RF didnt do that but I felt the RF was a magic carpet in comparison able to dance anywhere you need with precision and poise. I ran from the cops TWICE on the RF on the demo test ride. Having finally escaped pulling the most wicket wheely i was SOOOOOLD on the RF. Its all about feel and yea its magic.
I ride 17 Tuono Fac daily in traffic. It is sublime in any situation on the road. So comfortable, agile, easy, etc. a masterpiece really. Sounds is amazing (I have Akra) and way better than my V4S (Akra as well)I bought 18 V4S as my track bike and it sucks in traffic, practically a torture to ride in heavy traffic. On the open road It is on the other hand feels more special and acceleration is just mental. It’s electronics package is phenomenal once you learn how to use it. In terms of suspension, you really need to soften that rear, take out preload if you are light and it will handle much much better. Tuono feels quicker at low rpms , but at red line it has no chance vs Duc. I feel happy with my combo. If I could only have one bike it would be Tuono. For the track my choice is V4S because it is so quick. I do think RSV4 is an awesome choice for those who wants to have properly built Italian track monster and save about $10K once exhaust and all is done. It is a better value. V4S with Akra and bits is 40K practically, whereas RSV4 is probably 30. If you want ultimate sex on wheels - Ducati is the one. My opinion. Cheers.
I don’t see how you can write off the $4k difference, that’s a massive amount you can spend on the Aprila to make it even better and correct some of it’s negatives, yes the rich will probably just by the badge they like the most, the rest of us would have to think very hard before spending a extra $4k on already expensive bikes
I'm the same height and I don't think it's too bad, though my last bike was a 600 so maybe I don't notice it as much. I've only had the bike for a couple of weeks so i'm still yet to go for a lengthy ride.
Awesome review boys 👏 basically you ain't going wrong buying either one of these king of the track/streets super bikes. For me I'd choose the RSV4 RF just my preference that's all don't get me wrong id gladly take either and go home extremely happy but if I had to choose one it would be the RSV4 👍🏻 Adam 🇬🇧.......oh what canyon was this you where riding?
RSV4 wins! ... "Give" me the Panigale V4 S, I GRACIOUSLY ACCEPT! ... I will purchase the RSV4 without reservation or shame! ...Simply put by a simple man! ... (Meantime I will continue enjoying a 2000 TL1000R tuvm!)
For the street, it's very obvious that Panigale V4 is the superior machine at the moment. But... Competition check is coming very soon. 2019 S1000RR and all new CBR 1000RR along with(hopefully) a V4 superbike from Honda aka RVF 1000R. Great times for superbike lovers.
Sorry you didn't like the review. FWIW, neither will be happy with the scorecard result in the written portion of the test because it was a tie. They both want to beat the other, but that's the way that the scores shook out.
The issue isn't with who wins. The problem comes when someone loses. Losers are grumpy, and perhaps wont let you borrow as many bikes in the future. ..but way way worse: Loser are far less likely to buy ads. That is bad for business. Yikes.
These Bikes are so track focused and probably too powerful for the road to fully enjoy them, as most riders will be road weekend warriors so I’d be looking a the All new Ducati Panigale V2 because You’d get so much more from that bike for general road riding which most of us do 👍🏻🇺🇸🇬🇧
Great review guys. I test rode both and walked off with a base Ducati V4. Could I ask that you pronounce Ducati correctly 😉. It makes my skin crawl whenever I hear it pronounced doo-car-tee. My Italian wife confirms correct pronunciation is: Doo-cat-ee Other than that, I enjoyed watching this 😁
If you're trying to make up your mind for the street, take Aprilia. Getting your legs cooked and the finicky shifts suck to live with. The only reason to take a Ducati for the street is to be able to say you have the most powerful (cheater 105 extra cc) bike and the looks. But if that's what matters to you most, you're not a serious rider anyway. Keep in mind how much engine you can use on the street anyway: both will be breaking speed limits in 1st gear before getting into the meat of the power band and acceleration will be limited by the traction and not flipping instead of the engine.
Arilia seems like the clear winner as a street bike. Why would anyone choose for street use a bike that gives off excessive heat that is roasting your legs & butt? Comfort & usable fun power is more important than brute power when not on a track...
Aprilia for me, no question. Fact is, I’m not rich so $20k+ for any bike is way too much. I can get a 2018 RSV4 RR for $13999 right now and it’s about 95% of the RF version. Still has the Brembos, the TFT gauges, the 201hp motor, the sound, and stuff like cruise control but it’s less than half as much $$$ as a Panigale V4S. If money wasn’t a factor then I’d I love to get the Ducati but as it is, I’ll take the Aprilia. Picking mine up in 4 weeks!!!
For those saying get a Tuono for the street; well, what if someone isnt a fan of naked and wants a fully faired sport bike even for street use? I think for them bikes like Ninja 1000, Ducati Supersport, Suzuki GSX S1000F etc. make a lot of sense. However if someone wantes a full-on RR for the street, then still none beat the versatile CBR1000RR. Period.
I love Aprilia for the sound but they have have to get rid of the headlights 🤦🏻♂️ too many headlights what they were thinking, trying to make a race bike with so many headlights 😱🤦🏻♂️
Aprilia RSV4 wins as a street bike because your going to literally get your arse burnt more on the Ducati. Might not be a problem during a test ride but as an owner on a 35c + day you're going to regret the Duke . Top marks to Ducati for intuitive electronics Sexy headlight + tail section and it does cut a slightly better silhouette shape than the Aprilia but the duke does still sound maybe by design like a V twin . These days Im more into and love the exhaust sound of a motorcycle and my favorite street bike notes are Yamaha TRX 850 ... Yamaha cross-plane R1... Any Kawasaki triple S1 S2 S3 S4 H1 H2 and my all time favorite the ...V4 Aprilia so much so that I bought a Factory 1100 Tuono at first site . Its not the quickest of the lights or most technical but oh that cracking 15000rpm exhaust note .My riding buddies on there H2rs R1s MVs CBRs sports bikes drop behind me rapidly once we hit the good stuff cause the Tuono has so much low down exit grunt and ground clearance/stability and a inspiring 10kms more exhaust note exiting out of the twisties quick shifting crackle to the next corner after corner . The front brakes on my Tuono are a disappointment and are OK but not as great as they say compared to other bikes I've ridden. Were are in a blessed time to be into bikes .
Just saying that because these bikes are at a high price point, doesn't mean people don't take into consideration the cost difference.. It's a bit ignorant to assume that people who like these bikes don't care about money at all. I mean for that difference you could get yourself the RSV4 with full Akra and remap for less money than the stock Ducati, and now it performs just as well engine wise and sounds a billion times better and still has better chassis (and less weight than stock). Not to mention that the exhaust swap on the Ducati is a pain in the ass and you will pay a lot more for that compared to the exhaust swap on the Aprilia. To me, RSV4 all day even if I had the money to buy both.
the fuck does that have to do with anything? :I And for your information I can't afford either.. well, I could, but I also want food the next month.. But I hardly see why that is relevant. Care to explain your point? You could sit happy with the Aprilia with full Akra and a years worth of insurance for the cost of the stock Ducati, which might just be the make or break situation for someone's economy.

Gabatron You should watch the reviews from around 2013 if you want horrible sound. And nobody has worse sound than Jay Leno.
The audio was a bit funky in Part 1 but this wasn't too bad on speakers. As long as it's clear and the bike audio is good I'm not bothered. If it was music tracks I'd reconsider but for this it's fine for me.
Great video as always!😍😍😍
Is there any point in getting one of these bike if you don’t go track ?
No, but they're motorcycles. And you don't really need any actual reasons to own one, right?
Yes!! Its there only for you to get it! Track or no track!
What road was this filmed on?
I wish I could ride either one on that road!
where are the other presenter, the banter was interesting and made the video fun to watch
I just really wanna know where you were riding during this video.
Angeles Crest between Newcombs and Wrightwood.
Great show
They are both great bikes! Pick the one that fits your needs boys. You can’t go wrong.
You forgot the foldable mirrors on the rsv4
pancakes 4 U mirrors need to come off to make it look better , cuz those car headlights ruined it 🙄☹️
I want your job. Great job guys as it was a good breakdown of the positives and negatives of these bikes. The heat of a Ducati, I had the 959, is a big killer where I live which is why I sold my bike.
I like the Ducati sound, and looks. Plus the technology
Great aerial shot @13:58
Ducs good but Aprilia... love it. And for the street: get a Tuono.
if the bike doesn't goto track much, the Tuono will be much better
Just get a 17 Tuono RR, buy aftermarket TTX and revalve the front forks. You get all the electronic you need and still come under the RF cost.
William Ng I agree
Benson Austin Racing my poison
I used Arrow Racing exhaust. DB killer is nice sometimes when needed.
2019 RSV4 with 217 ps comparision with V4S please.
Aprilia frame and bottom end with Ducati valve train and suspension? Hey, I can dream, okay!😂
The RSV4 has cruise control, I have one and do use it on motorway / highway rides, it is very handy !
how do you flog a bike.
The beautiful sinister look of the Ducati wins me over
In a clear win for the Ducati you guys neglected to mention the fuel mileage. Abysmal on the Ape V4s (Tuono owner speaking) but actually not too terrible on the V4 Panigale. High 30s is what my friend is reporting on his. We rode on Sunday and my T was the limiting factor on our ride.
The Aprilia doesnt have LED headlights..?
@@LuckyPause3d didn't they have a redesign or a major update a few years back when it won in superbike category? But yeah, I swapped running light bulbs in my BMW for LED. super easy mod and looks much better
@@LuckyPause3d LED headlights are like $40 a pair and take 5 mins to change so not a big deal
D. Faust she has car headlights 😂 they ruined the bike with those headlights 🤦🏻♂️
LOL they are both great bikes. Your a winner with either one.
Jesus! It would be frightening to lowside off the end of the road @ 14:30
My opinion. Cheers.
Where is the duke
My buddy has a Panigale R and it's a no-go for him in Florida. Just too hot to ride for any length of time. I think I am going to try the Aprilia.
I don’t see how you can write off the $4k difference, that’s a massive amount you can spend on the Aprila to make it even better and correct some of it’s negatives, yes the rich will probably just by the badge they like the most, the rest of us would have to think very hard before spending a extra $4k on already expensive bikes
Your likely to get a big discount at aprillia, its more like a 10k difference
You guys never did give us your track day lap times.
V4s Bike of the Year maybe even Decade cant wait to get one waiting for the 2019 model hopefully a blacked out one.....LOL
Basically just pick which one you can afford and which one you think looks better.
I can't afford either but the Ducati is just stunning.
Ze Germanz same here I can afford both but Ducati looks better Aprilia ruined with those car headlights 🤦🏻♂️
I'm 6'2'' ...so I'm not sure I can fit on the Aprilla. 😬
Im 6'4 v4 will suit me
I'm the same height and I don't think it's too bad, though my last bike was a 600 so maybe I don't notice it as much.
That was the famed Angeles Crest Highway.
Evans Brasfield thanks dude 👍🏻 id kill to ride this canyon
RSV4 wins! ... "Give" me the Panigale V4 S, I GRACIOUSLY ACCEPT! ... I will purchase the RSV4 without reservation or shame! ...Simply put by a simple man! ... (Meantime I will continue enjoying a 2000 TL1000R tuvm!)
Now we have the RSV Factory 1100! I know theirs a new champ, hands down!
I commute alot, cruise control would be sooo great to have.
I'm so afraid to piss of any bike maker out there, so i'll keep sounding like a commercial for all of them". Great work guys..yeah, not.
Yikes.
These Bikes are so track focused and probably too powerful for the road to fully enjoy them, as most riders will be road weekend warriors so I’d be looking a the All new Ducati Panigale V2 because You’d get so much more from that bike for general road riding which most of us do 👍🏻🇺🇸🇬🇧
Nice jacket bro
An exhaust for the Ducati costs more than a 2020 gsxr 600 though
Great review guys. I test rode both and walked off with a base Ducati V4.
Could I ask that you pronounce Ducati correctly 😉.
It makes my skin crawl whenever I hear it pronounced doo-car-tee.
My Italian wife confirms correct pronunciation is: Doo-cat-ee
Other than that, I enjoyed watching this 😁
I'm happy that Aprilia is more of a household name now. It didnt used to be that way.
The shift thing goes away as the transmission breaks in. The heat does not.
Translation: this idiot doesn't like Ducati and wants to take everyone to know it
The audio quality and commentating was much better this time around but the video quality still needs some work... great content though.
I prefer the rsv4!
both bikes are sexy❤️🏍
Arilia seems like the clear winner as a street bike. Why would anyone choose for street use a bike that gives off excessive heat that is roasting your legs & butt? Comfort & usable fun power is more important than brute power when not on a track...
can't find another review that finds this close ! ducati pisses the aprilia everywhere! and i love the RSV
Aprilia for me !
IDK , 24 to 28 grand is quite a bit of dinero for a everyday sport bike ! Both are superb machines !
My take is the Aprilia is the best track bike and the Ducati is best for the street.
Fivespeed 302 wtf Ducati is the best track bikes in the world
Aprilia for me, no question.
George Lamas right, I still can’t stand that they have yellow halogen bulbs too like wtf. While 600s are now full hid/led and DRLs
Both. Super Rad
Which sounds the best?
jerryl davis Aprilia
Fireblade V4 soon....... 🤔
Aprilia is good, but I hope it's has more nicer headlights (I'm just nitpicking)
JayPlays 44 exactly they ruined such of beautiful bike with those car headlights 🤦🏻♂️ what they were thinking
In my country, the Ducati is 50% more expensive than the Aprilia so its a no brainer.
Hes the only good reviewer
So if the Aprilla had more power it would kick the Ducks ass.
i don't like electronic suspension it takes the feel away from the tires.
That should mean the 1100 RSV4 should be king!!
There is nothing wrong with committing to what u like and the score card not reflecting the same thoughts. Seems taller riders should go with Ducati.
A professional racedriver should do the track tests. Then the difference would be bigger.
Just say you cant afford the ducati lmao
the fuck does that have to do with anything? :I And for your information I can't afford either.. well, I could, but I also want food the next month.. But I hardly see why that is relevant. Care to explain your point?
You could sit happy with the Aprilia with full Akra and a years worth of insurance for the cost of the stock Ducati, which might just be the make or break situation for someone's economy.
