Book Review | Why Nations Fail by Arslan Zahid Khan | Current Affairs for CSS/PMS 2020-21|

When it is a Nation, why does it fail? Because ‘Nation’ reflects a knot between government and its people.
In the temporal era of struggle of survival, the failure of a nation doesn’t remain in short run which implies long term instability. The author has been generous to throw light on the root cause of a substantial issue. The plot of ’Why Nations Fail’ depicts comparative analysis of failed and successful nations.
It reflects how nations stand with a joint effort of government and its people through inclusive institutions and opportunities provided by the government which benefit laymen as well. On contrary, countries end up standing on fragile pillars through enforced extractive institutions for its people that keeps on sinking a nation in the pool of eternal loss.

Inclusive institution set up took centuries in america or europe. But sir we have examples of south korea , singapore, Estonia( as u mentioned in previous video). These states have developed inclusive state institution within few decades.

The implementations by inclusive state institutions in these countries were rapid . Therefore, these nations flousirished.
On the other hand, when we talk about USA , we have to know about the extractive capitalist elites. From 1783 to 1909, the inclusive state institutions in USA were not strong. although, USA established the basic framework for inclusive state institutions but from 1783 to 1909, the economy of USA was in the hands of narrow capitalist elite. Therefore, the maturity in inclusive state institutions took time in USA as compared to South Korea and other countries.👍
