Hi, Im Lilly. When i started watching you i did not have a hamster, but now Im getting a hamster! Me and my mom is going to build this cage!! (Im 10) thats all i wanted you to know. You save hamsters liltle lives. I hope penny loves the cage. Bye!!😊🐹
It’s great that you and your mom are providing your hamster with such a great cage ❤ a lot of younger kids tend to get a tiny pet store cage which of course aren’t suitable x good luck with building it and congrats on getting a hamster!
You are so strong & independent!! The fact that you built this by yourself should tell you there’s no need to compare yourself to anyone else. You’re super young & you: - are a successful content creator - are a homeowner - you give all of your pets 5 ⭐️ treatment - you’re funny - you’re basically 💯 successful all on your own already. This isn’t common & you should be super proud of yourself!!
I have the ultimate big cage - An entire room! I free-range my Syrian hamster 24/7 in a spare bedroom that I use for storage. Yes, really. I've been doing it close to 10 years, with no problems. I place a one-foot high wooden board in the doorway of the room to keep my hamster from escaping into the rest of the house. Note that even with a whole room, you still need a cage. The hamster needs a place to sleep and burrow, and you need a place to hang the exercise wheel. A hamster will actually potty train themselves, and return to the cage to use the bathroom. A small cage is totally fine when you free range a hamster. I should also mention that I have hardwood floors, so I don't need to worry about my hamster ripping up carpet. Free ranging a hamster isn't possible for everyone, but I highly recommend it to anyone if they have a spare room in their house.
how long it took for it to stop pooping everywhere? i never tried something like that because i always assumed hamsters would make the entire room dirty, for as long as they lived
@@andreysilva8418 Pooping isn't a big deal. Hamster poops are small, dry pellets. My hamster has had a couple accidents when it comes to pooping, but that's no big deal. I just sweep it up with a hand broom. But my current hamster has never peed on the floor. In the past, I've had a hamster who had accidents a couple times. I think she couldn't run to the cage fast enough, and she wound up peeing on the floor in a corner. I just wiped up the mess with a wet paper towel, and it wasn't a problem. Anyway, a hamster does not want to make the room dirty. I'm sure they see the room as an extension of their home, so they are motivated to keep as clean and sanitary as possible.
“Once you get a hamster you start to go down a spiral of always wanting to go bigger” Victoria this is so true! I started with one hamster and now my mom and I label ourselves as “hamster people” 😅 But we would not be here without your videos, you have helped us so much, thank you. ❤
I just wanted to tell you that you have been such a huge help with me for my hamster journey. I have now owned 4 hamsters in my life, one of them currently. She’s a black Syrian hamster and her name is Truffle. My very first hamster’s name was Almond, and she was a Cambell’s Dwarf hamster, and she was in a a small critter trail cage for her entire life. She lived for 3 years but she was always chewing on the bars and pacing weirdly. I then got a 2nd hamster, Kaoleomel, a Syrian hamster, and unfortunately she was also in a small, wired cage with a small wheel and tubes. She only lived for 8 months and she was also my favorite hamster (until now, with Truffle). My third hamster was a winter white dwarf and her name was Chia. This was when I started watching your videos and I got a bin cage with about 600 square inches of space. I made sure she had 6 inches of bedding all around as well and a good sized wheel, she lived for 2-3 years. I then took a break from hamsters and got into fish, and currently own a 40 gallon tank with 3 tetras and 2 fancy goldfish. I decided I wanted to get back into hamsters, so I got Truffle a week ago and she’s the friendliest hamster I’ve ever had, not scared of human hands at all. I got her a wooden and glass cage that’s about 600 square inches and 6 inches of paper bedding. I have a niteangel wheel, water bottle stand, and large hideout for her, and I got her a large sand bath and even purchased some sprays from niteangel and got some herbs and flowers. This is the most enrichment I’ve ever given a hamster, because as sad as it is, none of my past hamsters even had a sand bath, let alone anything else than the basics. So I’m so glad that you’ve made all these helpful videos and I love watching them and improving my hamster care, and soon want to get some new digging substrates for Truffle so that she can have different textures as well.
Oh my goodness wow!! I was offline yesterday until it was time for bed, then saw your video pop up on my subscriptions, THEN I saw your thumbnail and was like YES THIS IS AMAZING!!! Couldn't wait to watch today and am so proud of you for planning / building that all by yourself! It is no easy feat to make a DIY cage, but especially not one the size of your door! Good thing it could just fit in by a hair hehe! It looks so good and I hope you're proud of yourself. 😍 You are such a smart lady and hard worker! ❤ The end was so adorable trying to get the thumbnail pic. 🤣🤣 So so excited to see how you decorate and fill it up!! My friend got a hamster for her young son & it urged me to get one for mine. She bought her ham a critter trail *I think thats what theyre called* & as I was shopping for one, I found one I liked but figured I could get it much cheaper online, so I went home and bought one on Amazon. After I bought it, I started looking at reviews and one specific review said it was too small for a syrian & that one comment sent me down a hamster hole (rabbit hole) so I started researching exactly how big this cage needed to be for a syrian, & then I came across your videos. Since then, I have returned the critter trail, bought a 75 gallon aquarium, the biggest niteangel wheel, sprays, different substrates, hides, and given my ham 10+ inches of bedding & a sand bath. I also urged my friend to upgrade, referring her to your videos. She now has a bin cage, the correct sized wheel, a sand bath, & handmade hides from myself. They are no longer our childrens pets, but the family pets & they're respected as they should be. You've changed so many hamsters lives & I couldn't possibly thank you enough for educating me, so as a small thanks, I will continue to share my new found knowledge with as many people that will listen to me telling them theyre doing everything compeltely wrong, lol. Thank you, Victoria. ❤ Mochi & Hammy say thank you as well! 🥰
DIY is every hamster owner's best friend! Can't wait for the setup! 🥰 You are supper strong being able to lift the whole thing! 😱😱😱 If it's ok to ask, why did you decide to make a new cage instead of using the ones you got from Niteangel? They looked pretty good.

You take the best care of hamsters I always come to you from advice! I have a Syrian hamster and he’s happy! I just upgraded his cage from the way o wanted to go bigger!
With my last hamster, I did a cage similar to this using two IKEA Pax frames and some plexiglass. The frame I used was the 75cm * 30cm * 201cm one, and I stacked the outer edges on top of each other using metal plates, screws and silicone to make the overall height 70cm (18 inches of bedding in 1/2 of the cage, it was lush lol). The one thing I would never do again is use plexiglass though (without a wooden frame at least), it was too thin and flimsy and I'm surprised it lasted as long as it did :')
I am definitely guilty of always wanting to go bigger. My Syrian is in an 125 gallon tank, and I want to upgrade her to the largest IKEA PAX even though she’s perfectly happy with no stress signs. I think of how much more I can fit in there for her. I don’t know if I’ll ever be satisfied lol.
I remember getting my first hamster when I was 10 and being able to fit inside the 85 gallon tank I had gotten 😂(thanks to your Chanel I had all my research done)
Wish I was as handy as you are. My syrian enclosure is based on the video of the one Penny was living in. We got hinges from Lee Valley so that the lid would stay open. Thanks for another great video. Penny will be so happy 😊
I think I just have determination to be able to try and do things myself as I don't like having to ask or pay someone else to do it! 🙈 It may not be perfect but if you tried your best I think that's all that matters. That's a smart idea with the hinges!
"...which I keep proving to be true" SPEAK BB you're damn right you can 😆 never try to stand in the way of a woman with a little impatience, a drill, and a dream
I still remember from 8 years ago!! I remember the sugar and spice video and how excited I always was to interact with your videos/streams, I’m almost 21 now, can’t believe I’m still subscribed after all this time lmaoo!
Not going to lie, I'm a bit jealous of how gloriously big and beautiful this cage is haha! It would be a dream to have one so large. One day! 😅❤ I'm sure Penny will love it!
It looks amazing! If I move to a bigger place where a cage this size would fit I will definitely build one like this. Right now my cage is half that size, I too used a kompliment glasshelf as the front😊
How tall do you think I am based on the cage size? 👀🤣
I’ll go with a safe answer: 5, probably 5’4, idk tho XD
5’6 idk lol
If I remember correct from one of your videos you are 5,4
5’7-5’8
I’m just gonna guess either 5’5 or 5’4

I am definitely guilty of always wanting to go bigger. My Syrian is in an 125 gallon tank, and I want to upgrade her to the largest IKEA PAX even though she’s perfectly happy with no stress signs. I think of how much more I can fit in there for her. I don’t know if I’ll ever be satisfied lol.
Omg, that’s like a bed 😵 but the hammie will be soooooooo happy
I can agree with always wanted to go bigger lol! I have a enclosure about the same size as you and it’s so nice
I mean I have the same size enclosure as yours’ 😭
A wonderful enclosure! 🐹🫶🏻
Penny is going to be thrilled:)
Oh wow that's crazy 😲
I remember getting my first hamster when I was 10 and being able to fit inside the 85 gallon tank I had gotten 😂(thanks to your Chanel I had all my research done)
thank you! 🥰

Woah! 20 mins ago. I love you Victoria!! (In a fan way)❤❤
You treat your hamsters like babies!
How great the super cage is for your hamster. I loved how awesome. Greetings from Chile 💞💞
"...which I keep proving to be true" SPEAK BB you're damn right you can 😆 never try to stand in the way of a woman with a little impatience, a drill, and a dream
You got that right! 💗💪🏼
I still remember from 8 years ago!! I remember the sugar and spice video and how excited I always was to interact with your videos/streams, I’m almost 21 now, can’t believe I’m still subscribed after all this time lmaoo!
Wow that is crazy!! 😲 such a long time ago!
@@VictoriaRaechel yeah, I commented a bit ago and asked the same question but idk if you remember gamerboy98611, that was me :)
Not going to lie, I'm a bit jealous of how gloriously big and beautiful this cage is haha! It would be a dream to have one so large. One day! 😅❤ I'm sure Penny will love it!
Thank you!!! It also was once my dream too 🙈 So never give up! ❤️
@@VictoriaRaechel thanks! Once I manage to get my own place, it should be possible
It looks amazing! If I move to a bigger place where a cage this size would fit I will definitely build one like this. Right now my cage is half that size, I too used a kompliment glasshelf as the front😊
My dream cage for my hammy !!
Wake up Victoria posted another hamster cage video😛
Great video as always
Thank you as always Chantal!
