A sad Kratos makes sense. He finally has time to grieve and process EVERYTHING he and Atreus encountered on their journey. Keeping in mind that from the moment we loaded the game we were going to experience a different Kratos he's dealing with 3 things that I believe are weighing heavily on him. 1. The Betrayal of Faye I say betrayal because she walked the journey before Kratos and Atreus which eludes to either her or the Giants possessing some form of future sight/clairvoyance and we also see that with Atreus as well. Kratos is realizing that Faye hid everything from him regarding the true nature of her wish to have her ashes scattered. This also means that Mimir most likely has met Faye and could mean that he too is hiding something from Kratos. 2. Coming To Terms With Who He Was Kratos seeing Zeus, having his son witness what he had done, his son killing Modi(as far as we know), him killing Magni and then killing Baldur has plunged him into reliving and possibly rethinking his own reasons for wiping out key pillars of the Greek Pantheon. He had spent years forcing himself to live as a Mortal, but ever since the moment he told Atreus of their true nature did it open to door to really taking everything into account. 3. Unable To Escape Fate Kratos seeing their journey on the murals along the walls when they finally reached the realm of the Giants and the start of Fimbulwinter upon their return could have Kratos realizing that Fate operates differently in this realm than what he is used to. His perception has shifted. Throughout the game Kratos has approached everything through the lens of what he has experienced with the Greek Pantheon which is why he downplays the size of Jourmegander, but he may be realizing that there's too much he doesn't know and he has lost a meaningful ally in Freya. Just my two cents
I disagree with number 3, he still believes that fate can be unwritten, so he is not sad because he cant change fate, i think he is sad because he just wanted a normal life(live as a man) but he realized that will never be possible since he is a god and also finding out that dating faye led to him having to deal with something he never wanted to(gods and possible destruction of a pantheon). So in the end i think he is sad because he wont be able to live a normal live with a family and will have to deal with gods again which makes him worried that his new enemies will target atreus and possibly kill him
When you said that you think Kratos is sad about leaving Atreus behind and not have done enough of his role as a father, brought tears to my eyes. Pictured Kratos crying while saying goodbye to Atreus. I think he wants to atone for his sins by raising him to the best man/God he can be, as Kratos wasn't as good as he wished to be.
Having read the novelization recently, he had a moment of inner doubt where he questioned both Faye's intentions and feelings for him. Perhaps he wonders if he has been used like his former masters who brought him nothing but misery and a cursed existence. He's also being restricted by the hands of fate again (the Nornir, apparently) and believes he may die due to the mural in Jotenheim, thus leaving his son behind.
So if the next game starts right at the end of Fimbulwinter, I would expect that (at least in Midgard) we will not be using the Leviathan Axe all that much. Most of enemies we will come across will be cold or adapted to cold, after three years of winter, so the frost axe will be less affective against them. I expect the Blades of Chaos will be used more.
@@DiosDivine 100%. There should be new finishing moves, combo's. It'd be really cool if you could combo the axe with the blades somehow. That'll be awesome
Mimir feels like the boi's uncle now Also Brok and Sindri took some "measurements" for Mimir when Kratos and Boi left. Maybe Brok wants to make Mimir a cyborg?
It was fated for Kratos to kill his father, as his father killed his grandfather as his grandfather did to his great grandfather. Kratos cannot fight fate.
In all honesty, Kratos should be able to kill Thor with some effort. I mean he freaking has the soul of the God of death, Hades. I wonder why he wasn't in control of the enemies when he went to Hell to save Atreus.
Mr edits / m.a.k the gunner it’s not the weapon containing the soul it’s his body, otherwise we’d see it absorb the soul into the claws but it goes into his body.
What does hades soul actually do for hades and kratos? And I could be wrong but isn’t hades the god of the underworld and Thanatos was the god of death?
It started Ragnarok. In Norse mythology baldurs death triggers Ragnarok. Then skull and hati (the wolves sons of loki) eat the sun and the moon and fimbulwinter is everywhere. Want to see how Santa Monica will show Loki's kids.
Cycle ends here means gods killing their parents. Kratos killed his dad and family. And baldur was gonna do the same to Freya his mother. So he says the cycle ends here. Killing family members is what he refers to.
I think the reason Kratos is sad/conflicted is because of a combination of three things: 1) He believes that the mural on the wall depicted his death and while Kratos doesn't fear death he doesn't want to leave Atreus alone when he's still so young and inexpereinced in his powers. This is especially true since they've now made enemies of the gods in this realm. Kratos likely fears that he may have unknowingly pushed Atreus into a cycle of revenge like Ares and Zeus had done to him. 2) All throughout the game Kratos had been adamant that fate was "a lie told by the gods", so to see that the giants had predicted every single one of his actions was undoubtedly a shock to him. Kratos likely believed that since he was from another realm where fate no longer exists, he was an outside influence who wasn't bound by the prophecy and fate of this world. However, since the giants seemingly counted on him being in the Norse myth, that assumption is now false. Kratos is now bound by new fates and unlike last time, he doesn't have the will or reason to go on a quest to kill 'Fate' like he did in Greece. 3) Faye. Kratos likely feels betrayed knowing that Faye might have essentially "used" him just to save her people. In a way, this seems suspiciously similar to how Freya married Odin to save Vanaheim and Kratos likely wonders whether or not his marriage was ever "real". Of course, with Faye dead, Kratos has (seemingly) no other way to gain closure with her and with Fimbulwinter in full swing and Ragnarok not far behind, Kratos likely feels sorrowful knowing that he'll die without knowing if the last few years of his life had even mattered in the grand scale of things. After all, if Faye HAD truly used him then Kratos was still being used as a pawn by higher forces despite all of his struggles in Greece and Scandanavia. It would mean that (symbolically) he was still a slave to the gods, doing the bidding of other beings who didn't care for anybody but themselves.
Hey Kuba I got a theory video for ya In the foothill in Midgard there’s a hidden chamber of Odin. Under the valkyrie boss room there is a hallway with a horn in it. On the horn there are ruins. You know, the best way to subvert expectations is to fight Thow not once, but twice, and lose both battles. Thus coming to the realization that only Jǫrmungandr can actually beat Thor.
Well Kratos had done things that have surprised even Mimir, despite what information he has gathered surrounding Kratos. I definitely feel that if and when Kratos and Thor fight, it will definitely be memorable. I do believe more that Kratos has a chance at killing Thor, given that at the very least in one story that Mimir states, there was a Giant that Thor knew even he wouldn't be able to fight and kill on his own, whereas Kratos, despite having his own losses, has come back and defeated the enemy that beat him. I feel that anything is up in the air regarding what will happen, given how much Mimir states Kratos and Atreus have changed things (such as Ragnarok and Fimbulwinter seemingly approaching sooner than expected.), and how the prophecy will take place due to it supposedly being changed. And this is assuming that Mimir is telling Kratos and Atreus the truth. I say this last line, given how people have tried to get Kratos's trust, only to try and stab him in the back, one example being Hephaestus. Part of me feels that in some degree Mimir is mixing truth and lies together with communicating with the pair. One thing that has me paranoid, is that if Kratos is killed, and comes back, how that death will affect Atreus. Given how Kratos has come back from death, nobody has really mourned him regarding such. And I think that if Kratos comes back from the dead, how that event will transpire. Lastly, that mural showing of what a large number of people believing Kratos to be dead, whether it comes true or not, I really feel that Balrog is having a field day seeing people go nuts over it, and understandably so.
This was one of your best videos it was awesome to see events after god of war 4 we haven’t got much until now now all we need is a reveal for god of war 5 to come out and for fallen god to also come out
I love the thought that Kratos fighting Thor is basically GOW4 Kratos vs GOW3 Kratos. It seems so obvious after you said it, but yeah, I never pictured Thor as being the Norse equivalent of Prime-Kratos. Hopefully they play with that concept, you know? Kratos is well aware, I think, of all his past atrocities but seeing himself in Thor, so to speak, would be interesting.
My thoughts were that Odin could turn Atreus against Kratos by twisting those words and facts - bringing up that Kratos killed his own family. But Atreus would constantly question it, going back and forth with confusion
i never really cared much for the god of war series. I even tried playing this game once and couldnt get into it. I picked it back up like 2 weeks ago since i was bored. I just recently binge watched a bunch of your theory videos. After seeing them, I have a theory that in Ragnarok, Kratos won’t be fighting against the Aesir Gods. I feel like he’s going to be siding against the Giants instead. I haven’t quite worked out the details yet, but so far my theory is that the final mural that shows Atreus’ freaking out over a dead body is going to be the tipping point that leads him to trigger Ragnarok. Essentially, he meets someone that ends up becoming a mentor of sorts to him, helping him manifest and control his godly powers, and Odin, realizing who Atreus is, sends one of the Aesir gods to kill him. The mentor steps in and dies instead, and the grief and anger Atreus feels ends up putting his powers into overdrive and somehow ends up reviving the giants or turning back time. Perhaps the person who mentors him is Tyr, and the god uses his last breath to give some of his power to Atreus and that’s how he does it idk. He kills the god in a fit of rage and instead of the horn being used to signal Ragnarok, him repeating “Come” on the mural is him commanding Jormungandr to wake up. The snake obliges and the sun blacks out as Skoll and Hati finally catch up to their prey. Kratos tries to console his son, but ends up being attacked by the boy and loses, with Atreus disappearing into the portal to Jotunheim with the Bifrost. Instead of helping his son win the coming war, he sides with the gods to stop is, and is given a new bifrost to travel the realms to fight against Loki’s forces that are invading other realms, getting things that he needs to eventually travel to Jotunheim himself and defeat the Giants and his son to snap him out of his fit of rage.
“He’ll find his way out of valhalla for round 2 against whoever killed him” imagine killing someone and his ghost comes back while you’re eating dinner like whats up bitch lets go
I could definitely see us fighting thor in the middle of the next game, Kratos taking mjolnir to use throughout the second half of the game. Similarly to how the blades became available for the second half of the first game.
You predicted everything right so far. The Showcase, the events and I think you even predicted right that Tyr will be the one dying. I’m starting to think you are Atreus from the future and you got your fathers blades lol
it's sad how Baldur died. his whole life he couldn't feel a thing and was depressed, but when the arrow tip hit him and he started feeling again he died. the fact he could feel the snow was just depressing
If Kratos does perish, I'm sure it won't be permanent given his many deaths and escape from the underworld in previous games. Sure it may be sad and shocking when/if it does happens, but I highly doubt and hope it will be forever. Just maybe most of said game and perhaps most of the following God of War game installment thereafter. Also, I too feel the one being on the mural to perish being someone good and close to Atreus like Tyr or some other individual would be more interesting... 🙂
Something I love about this series is they have already revealed that when gods die their deaths bring destruction, plague, etc. Baldur brings fimbulwinter and I'm stoked to see what happens now
Wait what if thor does kill Kratos and that scene does come to be. And Kratos actually goes to Valhalla but Atreas doesn't know that Kratos has come back from the land of the dead before. So it makes Valhalla a travel point from then on and is a throwback to all of the original God of War fans.
Kratos: “Hey, I saved your life!” Freya: “You didn’t save my life, you ruined my death! That’s what you did!” Hats off to those who catch the reference.
I feel like the next game is going to go something like this. We fight Thor at least 2 times throughout the game( like Baldur un this game) but in one of it not the first battle with Thor, the fury and rage in him will out power and catch Kratos by surprise having him getting killed. Then Atreus will hold him in his arms and spawn the world serpent. After this we will play as Atreus for a short while and we will revive Kratos before finally concluding the game with Ragnarok and Kratos finally killing Thor. Thanks for watching my TedTalk LUL
Sooo I think the 3 wolves that dragged Kratos to Finland was Loki & hait & fedre or however you spell them. & they were sent by Kratos wife. & They did it to bring Kratos to destroy the prophecy of Norse mythology.. Kratos wife frye obviously wanted kratos to kill bauldar to start thimbalwinter early to mix up the prophecy. I think that's why you see the hint at austrus walking with the wolves at the end & fyre is the 3rd. thats why austrus asked if he could turn into a wolf. Maybe idk tho lol
Mimir told Austrus that he couldn't fight fate, So I think Fyre & the other 2 wolves went & brought Kratos to Finland (from the other video that you went over in the book) because he is the one that can fight fate.. & all of Frye handprints & plot lead Kratos to kill Boulder to start thimbalwinter early & mix up the prophecy.. & the mural at the end is austrus walking with the 2 wolves skull & hait & his mother which she is freymore or whatever the other wolfs name is. If you see my comment & like it enough, then please excuse the spelling & sentence structure lmao
Hey man This is kinda irrelevant to the video but i really appreciate all the work you do with your theories and wish you had more subscribers you work so well on your videos.
Something I read yesterday on reddit, the jotunheim we visited was a future where ragnarok didn't happen yet or at all, odin or thor managed go get to jotunheim and killed all the giants, and the murals are their story that ends in failure, but with Kratos actions this game he changed that fate, he changed the future and now Ragnarok will happen and much sooner than previously thought
I think Kratos will stop being sad when he realizes that the murals are of the past and not written in stone as a future destiny. That realm has time that moves very fast in comparison to Midgard. When they show up, it’s likely after the battle of ragnorak
"The cycle ends here." Kratos said this in either God of War 2, or God of War 3. What will be his end? When will Kratos have peace? Will he ever find peace? Or will he suffer in torment, like his Titan Grandfathers? Best gaming series of all time. You can't tell me different.
Hey man! You know how Cory Barlog said "Mimir is not telling us everything that Jormangandur told him"? I went to watch the first time time Mimir speaks with the snake (after he eats Thor's statue), after speaking Mimir says "Curious...", when Kratos asks "what is it?", Mimir replies "ohhh nothing to be concerned about". I believe this is one of the times Mimir doesn't tell the whole truth. What could he be hiding? Could Mimiir be a double agent (Odin likes to control the future right?)? Or perhaps Mimir has his own goals. We base a lot of theory on what Mimir says so if he tells half truths, we may be misled in some areas. Could you make a video on what Mimir's could possibly be hiding from us? Cheers!
Having come back here to watch this again, I think that the main reason that Kratos is moving slowly is due to him seeing the mural of Atreus, and who we currently believe is a dead Kratos. I think that the main reason Kratos is moving slower than usual, is possibly due to his parental side, of him not being there for Atreus for when he is able to become an adult, and do things on his own. At the very least with Calliope, and what we have seen with Atreus, Kratos has had his own level of being a caring parent. I don't believe so much in Kratos being fazed by Ragnarok. But more on the fact of possibility of him being gone too soon, and not knowing the events surrounding that. Kratos normally isn't bothered by the aspect of him dying, since he has died, and come back in the past. But possibly that he may die, and not come back, at the worst possible time.
It's a bit funny, how for awhile before they were smashing, slashing, piercing, crushing themselves etc. and then Kratos just grabed Baldur by the neck and snaped it like it was a sunday chore 😄
Something I hope happens in the next god of war, is the ability to have full body armor. And also the choice to change the look of armor but keeping the stats.
Luba what if hildsvíni is the last Jotnar that freya knows as she says “the last of his kind and you shoot him?!” And then says “the fault is min I should of kept a closer eye” and “I told you not too wonder too far” as she has a spell that blocks the gods from finding her and in the book it says that the golden markings on the boar deflected the arrow, and that Faye obviously meant for us too meet freya as we wouldn’t have had a chance too get past the Black breath and that might mean that they might of met each other before
the mural with the wolves, not sure if its fenrir with his sons, depends on when its meant to happen because if its before they eat the sun and moon it cannot be them kratos being the MC will defeat thor, can't say he provides the finishing blow but he will win in the end, what i would like to see is in the first fight between kratos and thor, kratos gains the upper hand but thor has the meginjord hanging loose and decides to tighten it, utilising its ability of doubling his strength and completely overwhelms kratos which gives kratos the reason to get stronger armour, weapons, weapon upgrades etc again as we play through the game i don't think the lake will freeze completely, even if it did then i think it will be part of our job to release it from the ice, i think the bridge will stay important for us to travel the realms, playing gow abit again today and just glancing carefully at what it says and vanaheim, svartlfheim and asgard are closed by odin just via the bridge i believe, so even if we had the rune we couldn't travel there, but if we had the rune but use mimir's eyes we could create a path to these places like we did in jotunheim, a "backdoor", sadly for mimir ,his eyes could be used a fair amount in the next game, we could end up in new places within the same realm too, for example, instead of using the bridge, we use mimir's eyes when travelling to muspelheim, maybe it takes us further in, maybe to where some fire giants are or surtr himself...
I think Kratos also does not want to erase a pantheon again because the last time he did was not really justified. The evils within Pandora's box corrupted the gods, even zeus to a large extent. I hope they mention that in the next game
I also believe Thor is the Kratos of the Norse pantheon, if you think about it, even though Mimir makes us hate him, if it was the other way around, a greek Mimir, wouldn't exactly talk marvelous things about Kratos. I think they might be even when it comes to power and strength

@Diamond Bourne we never know. I wouldn't mind carrying on with Atreus. I think Kratos suffered enough, let him rest haha

New combos as well. Im hyped. As long as Hyperion Grapple is still in the game, that's all it matters.

“The cycle ends here “ kratos knew he was rewriting history when he killed baldur
Actually he mean that the gods should stop killing their parents "we must be better"
@@GeekRaj i still think it has a double meaning tho

Yes in Norse mythology baldurs death triggers fimbulwinter and Ragnarok. That's why he says snow before dying.
Mimir: You can’t fight fate, lad.
Kratos: *Holding the sister of fates heads* You say somethin?
Kuba my man you deserved the interview with Cory and Eric for being a massive piece of the heart in this community. Thank you

I wonder how atreus will react when he finds out that kratos killed his wife & daughter. Do you have any theory about this?

Instead of helping his son win the coming war, he sides with the gods to stop is, and is given a new bifrost to travel the realms to fight against Loki’s forces that are invading other realms, getting things that he needs to eventually travel to Jotunheim himself and defeat the Giants and his son to snap him out of his fit of rage.

it's sad how Baldur died. his whole life he couldn't feel a thing and was depressed, but when the arrow tip hit him and he started feeling again he died. the fact he could feel the snow was just depressing
Baldur brings fimbulwinter and I'm stoked to see what happens now
Mimir "you can't fight fate"
Kratos "Why not. I did before, killed 'em"
Kratos killed baldur because he wanted to stop gods who kill their parent's thats why he saying "the cycle ends here we must be better"
Great video man, you have some pretty accurate presumptions.
Wait what if thor does kill Kratos and that scene does come to be. And Kratos actually goes to Valhalla but Atreas doesn't know that Kratos has come back from the land of the dead before. So it makes Valhalla a travel point from then on and is a throwback to all of the original God of War fans.
I wouldn't be surprised if kratos left Valhalla and meets his son to kick ass.
Maybe kratos'll have grey streaks in his beard at some point
He kinda already does

Hats off to those who catch the reference.

Kratos wife frye obviously wanted kratos to kill bauldar to start thimbalwinter early to mix up the prophecy. POST TRAILER: I feel like the mural IS Tyr, but not a dead one, maybe more of the one they find in the trailer?
The voice actor for baldur was PERFECT!

I think the mural really fucked with Kratos's head. He would have sworn every decision was his, yet it seems predetermined.
That son line was a nice touch. That mural at the house did that come from the giant realm is that why that hole is in the wall?
I like to think Kratos is evolving to become a version of a true God. And Atreus is his Jesus lol
Luba what if hildsvíni is the last Jotnar that freya knows as she says “the last of his kind and you shoot him?!”
And then says “the fault is min I should of kept a closer eye” and “I told you not too wonder too far” as she has a spell that blocks the gods from finding her and in the book it says that the golden markings on the boar deflected the arrow, and that Faye obviously meant for us too meet freya as we wouldn’t have had a chance too get past the Black breath and that might mean that they might of met each other before
i'll be joining the stream as always can't wait to see what instored
the mural with the wolves, not sure if its fenrir with his sons, depends on when its meant to happen because if its before they eat the sun and moon it cannot be them
kratos being the MC will defeat thor, can't say he provides the finishing blow but he will win in the end, what i would like to see is in the first fight between kratos and thor, kratos gains the upper hand but thor has the meginjord hanging loose and decides to tighten it, utilising its ability of doubling his strength and completely overwhelms kratos which gives kratos the reason to get stronger armour, weapons, weapon upgrades etc again as we play through the game
i don't think the lake will freeze completely, even if it did then i think it will be part of our job to release it from the ice, i think the bridge will stay important for us to travel the realms, playing gow abit again today and just glancing carefully at what it says and vanaheim, svartlfheim and asgard are closed by odin just via the bridge i believe, so even if we had the rune we couldn't travel there, but if we had the rune but use mimir's eyes we could create a path to these places like we did in jotunheim, a "backdoor", sadly for mimir ,his eyes could be used a fair amount in the next game, we could end up in new places within the same realm too, for example, instead of using the bridge, we use mimir's eyes when travelling to muspelheim, maybe it takes us further in, maybe to where some fire giants are or surtr himself...
Love your theories and ideas! I'm personally hoping we go to Muspelheim for more exploration rather than just trials
