Gday, I am doing this now and removed the bolt separating the upper steering shaft but the shaft doesn't move outta the way. Unfortunately you didn't show the bit that I needed - advice? Cheers.
Thanks for watching. From memory you only need a bit more room to get the UCA bolt out. so letting the steering shaft bolt be loose it should allow enough room in the uni joint to wriggle the bolt out past it. it is tight and the two shafts could have rusted a little. I can see from the image @5:36 I had the shaft pushed out about 1 inch. when i was done i moved it back up. I then put the UCA bolt back in from the other side. much easier. Im about to do this job on a d40 so will take some better footage i think and update the info.
@@sirjolly81 thanks for the reply. I did it on my d40 2008 model. So it's all done, bolt pushed in from the back, much easier, thanks again, cheers, Murray - Wodonga VIC.
Well after i posted this video i have had zero issues with mine. a couple of 4x4 trips and you get a little bit more front flex and the arms dont hit the spring anymore. So right now I cant complain for the price. next time i get the wheel of I will inspect the ball joint to see if its still solid.
Very cool. Thanks for posting. Not much stuff on the R51.
