It was always such a crazy journey playing RDR2 and realizing how much horror content is in the game. It's absolutely stacked to the brim with horror tropes.
I watched my 18yo nephew about to stumble upon the grizzly knowing full well he’s a serious jumper…I didn’t say shit and just watched from behind. Did not disappoint lol And of course the night people down in the bayou….approaching that disemboweled horse then hearing the sounds….and later approaching the crying woman. Good god I think I have PTSD
"What a cute litle cabin, lets look inside boah... Huh, my horse ran, why tho?... Where's this bear sound coming from?... Anyway, lets see what we got in this cAAAAAAHHH" Fun times... would love to do it again
@@vhscopyofseinfeldMy 12yon nephew was playing this weekend. He had just encountered the cannibals for the first time. It was dark, so I snuck up behind him and scared him. I felt bad, but it was so funny and he had made fun of me for going bald earlier. 😅
Speaking of crocodiles, the biggest (non scripted) jump scare I ever had was in Far Cry 3, where I was just standing by a river minding my own business and a croc lunged out at me. Didn't see it coming at all. Later, I got attacked by another croc in a tight underwater passage without noticing it in time. I've been jittery near water in Far Cry ever since.
There is a scripted crocodile attack in a secondary mission. I don't remember the name, but a villager tells you about people who go into a pool - in a cave underwater - and they never return, so you go investigate, you swim inside, find everyone dead, swim back and are attacked by a crocodile mid swim. Scared me so much the first time, and since then, I always throw a couple of grenades in the water after finding the corpses
When I experienced the RDR2 bear in the cabin I heard the bear and thought, 'Oh crap I'm gonna die to a bear better get in this cabin to get away.' That was a mistake.
That was also my first thought when I heard the bear, then I doubted myself "oh my God what if the bear is IN THE CABIN?!?" I still got scared when the bear attacked me 😂
In Batman: Arkham Knight, there's a far worse jump scare. I beat the game once and left it for a while. When I played it again from the beginning about a year later, same thing happened, but this time, when I finished it, I decided to try it on New Game+ and the opening scene with the Joker's body being cremated actually made my hair stand on end! That moment almost broke me.
that's weird, i had the joker burning thing too on my first ever playthrough, i had to hold a button for him to get set on fire. Maybe cuz i was playing the game on ps plus, streaming mode
@@Gxmergeddon Uh, no. That's not what I'm talking about. Yes, you always have to cremate the Joker at the beginning. Just start a New Game+ after you finish it... and let me know after you do.
As someone who grew up watching horror and playing horror games and is pretty much immune to jump scares the Batman Arkham Knight Manbat jumpscare got me. That’s the only time a video game has ever made me jump. Such a well timed scene.
As someone who never watched or played horror games the Batman Manbat jumpscare didn’t even get me to flinch. Just kidding my heart literally stopped for a couple of seconds
The most horror moment for me in games that aren’t horror is the Witcher 3 moment with the Hym in Skellige. Seeing the shadow of that thing pop out of your shadow is terrifying on the first play through.
I got ambushed by some wolves at night in Oblivion. Killed them but I ran out of torch and potions. Weakened and not being able to see. I saw a red light coming over the hill in the distance. I didn't know what this creature was, but I knew I was pretty beat up, and accepted my fate. So I prepped for a fight as the red light got closer and closer. I soon realized it was a torch I saw, but I couldn't tell who was holding due to it being dark and rainy. Next thing I hear... "By Azura, By Azura, By Azura! It's the Grand Champion!"
Honorable mention to the workbench Jumpscare in The Last Of Us: Part 2... that part when you're on the way to the hospital to find Nora and those AWOL WLF soldiers jump you. They took a normally innocent and essential game mechanic and turn it into a heart pumping enemy encounter.
It felt like if in Resident Evil the enemy suddenly enters a safe room. And the backstory of those wlfs was very sad, they were escaping and thought you were the enemy.
That Bioshock Infinite jumpscare still sticks with me to this day. Literally never saw it coming and yet it was kinda an obvious choice of jumpscare to put in that area if I was the developer.
I am not bragging, but I remember Bioshock infinite jumpscare, but I was so zoned out I guess, it didnt impact me at all, it is not hard to scare me, I dont even play horror games cause I hate the feeling, but for some reason I remember just seeing a guy and just started shooting and that was it. I remember it, because it was such a big deal on internet, people filmed live reactions, and looking at it, yeah, it was great scare, but somehow I didnt get scared on that one, and I dont know why? Most jump scares get me, and I was so invested in that game, I am not sure what meds I was on at time to completely shake of that moment at a time.
@@TheRealUcanUwill oh my god literally same. first time i played through the game, that jumpscare did not get me one bit. every following time? absolutely got me. even though i knew it was coming, as opposed to my first playthrough. even just watching videos of it, i get scared. but idk what the hell happened that first time that it had literally no effect on me lmao
Otacon's elevator jumpscare in MGS1 legitimately traumatized me, I was a real scaredy-cat when I was a kid, and I was maybe 8-9 years old watching my older brother play, the buildup of tension, not to mention the overall creepy vibe the control towers give off, and the eventual realization that there are a handful of invisible bad dudes doing the sneak on the elevator you're riding on, but Otacon's codec portrait zooming RIGHT IN while he screams "WATCH OUT SNAKE!!" In your face... I'm 32 years old now and even thinking about it still sends a chill through my spine. It actually did Traumatize me.
Bioshock 1 had the most effective jump scare. Early on in the game you open an item on the table and when you've finished and turn around there's a nasty standing behind you.
yeeeeah, when you are in the medical pavilion (I think) and the room gets foggy and you can't see nothing, and when its visible again theres a fucking doctor right behing you. That scared the hell out of me
Got to mention, any time a Reaper would appear on the map in Mass Effect 3. Minding your own business, scanning planets and suddenly the most jarring sound imaginable, which is 5 times louder than anything else in the game, goes off. Every single time my heart rate would spike and I’d panic to escape that zone.
My top 2 biggest jumpscares: 1) Fallout 4, I investigated an empty tent, I went in, looted it, turned around and a radscorpion popped out of the ground right in front of me and attacked me, it caught me off guard. 2) Playing with the spawn eggs in Minecraft creative mode and spawning in a ghast that immediately clipped into the landscape and screamed. Blew me out of my chair.
DUUUDE I THOUGHT I WAS THE ONLY ONE WHO DID THAG IN MINECRAFT LMAO also i literally cant use ender pearls anymore, was decorating my little cave with shroomlights and turns out an endermite spawned above when i pearled up to place a light! i broke that block to check the noise and it fell on me. new phobia unlocked 🥲
i can still hear the noise it made when i think of it..... also the rabbit in the castle area with the desert painting got me. i didn't know wtf it was and if it was trying to attack me lol
That Bioshock Infinite jumpscare still gives me the chills just like the first time I played it. I took the voxophone, pulled the lever then quickly turned around. And the bootleg sirenhead enemy is behind me
I LOVED that Witcher 3 moment so much...all game you're used to fighting monsters but you're never conditioned to be afraid of them, and realizing it was all a prank is just BRILLIANT as a character introduction and a way to have some light-hearted fun in this otherwise bleak game
I remember going into that little cabin in RDR2 for the first time and I was TERRIFIED. I think I was just looking for something for a member of the gang and was not expecting to find a giant bear.
I still say to this day that the biggest jump scare I've had in a game is from Fable 2. You get to these hidden areas (it's been a while since I played so details are hazy) where you go thru a portal and end up in a valley with a lone mansion in front of you. You go in, get a chest, and everything's fine. I think there were 10 or 12 total in that game. Well at the 5th or 6th one, you walk up like normal but as you approach the walkway, the screen flashes, a scream happens, and the mansion now looks like it went up in flames days earlier. Gat dang, did this cause me to jump while sitting. Eff you Molyneux.
I came here to talk about this moment! It didn't help that the cottage you enter was so warm and cozy, like a scene out of Narnia. The setting itself played the jump scare on the player. It was very effective.
I brought this exact same example up in one of Gameranx's other videos! Like another person said, I've played Fable 2 so many times but it still gets me every time!
You have no idea how much I love #8. That's when ND stared playing with foreground and camera movements and really started doing cinematic angles in gameplay for me. UC3 would take that approach further.
@@gameranxTV We gotta talk about this more gameranx! Wish you guys did a video about camera angles during gameplay. The Yeti reveal in UC2 and the camera pulled out and panning during the desert walk in UC3 Chapter 18 both belong on a list of wow moments during gameplay.
Yeah actually i find those games exciting. I got the first one as a bundle with my ps3 (i think), and figured id play it even though ive never heard of it. Completed the game and was very satisfied, i decided to try to 100% complete it and succeeded. Never completed 2, but i plan on getting the full series for ps4 or 5 and completing all of them.
@@Straight_White_Fatherly_Figure A lot of people think 2 is the best. I have played them all and probably have to agree. The story in 4 is the best but 2 has tons of action. A lot of people glance over 3 but I have a soft spot for it as it was the first Uncharted game I played. 1 is the worst and it's still a decent game. Definitely recommend the Nathan Drake collection. Even the Lost Legacy was lots of fun.
@Gatorade69 haha its nice to see some Uncharted fans. For a while i thought i was alone because no one really talks about them. Thank you for the recommendation.
A couple notable ones for me were the ghosts in multiple Pokemon games that just appear out of nowhere. I remember those spooking me pretty good when I was younger. Also this wasn't really a jump scare, but in Fallout 76 I was walking through the Mire area for the first time and it was night in game, I had the music and radio both turned off in game and that area is spooky by default so I was already a little unnerved, but I didn't expect a Flatwoods Monster (basically an alien) to suddenly start attacking me from behind. Scared the shit out of me especially since I hadn't seen that enemy before and was like "what the f is that?!?!?"
I knew exactly what you were going to say when you mentioned A Hat in Time. Vanessa's Mansion is actually such a hard turn into horror that the developers added in a way to just skip to the end of the level.
The scream at the end of the ghost ship in Wind Waker got me the first time. Sure, the music as you approach the ghost ship was spooky, but it was really just a quick gauntlet of enemies. The statue above the chest changes its face (I never noticed that until someone pointed it out), but what really gets you is the blood curdling wail after opening the chest. Link even jumps after the item description, and it fades out, then Link wakes up on his boat.
Did you run into the Night people ? In another comment thread someone said they didn't have any scary moments in RDR2 and I guess that could happen if you didn't explore around.
@@Gatorade69 I LITERALLY "screamed" with a night ppl encounter, one where the girl is crying and a night folk pops out of nowhere from behind and one shit kills you! that was INSANE!!!!
pretty much every noticeable "mark" on the map has something to explore/see. and then theres alot thats not on visible on the map that you gotta be lucky with.
I remember playing the haunted hogsmeade side quest in hogwarts legacy thinking it was gonna be a cute little side quest but it was actually horrifying to play with 2 brutal jumpscares that made me hurt physically and emotionally 😭
Singularity is very underrated. I still to this day love it. In fact, it has been on my wishlist on steam for a long time. I originally played it on console and want to take a nostalgia trip one day.
Raven's last game before being sent to the Call of Duty mines. Sucks too as Raven has always been an awesome developer who has made some great games. I actually hear they were responsible for the CoD Cold War campaign which was actually really really well done. So they still have it in them.
It's a fantastic game the multilayer was also awesome back in the day. Always rank it up there with the most underrated games: singularity and vanquish always my top 2
I hoped that the Fable 2 Demon Door jumpscare would make at least an honourable mention. First time you go through the Door by Bloodstone, run up to the home, go in... AUGH!!! Once I realised it wasn't because I'd made a bad decision somewhere (the game going "Nope! You don't get this wonderful place!) it was a PERFECT jumpscare.
The haunted house in Far Cry 6 spooked me pretty bad, because it was so unexpected. :D The "haunted house" in 5 was mostly just funny. The one in 6 was actually startling at points and the atmosphere was actually spooky.
I remember getting jumpscared by a random enemy that followed me for a while in Morrowind. Was walking around minding my own business but when I turned around a small monster enemy was there hitting me making me almost dropping my controller.
@@nobuzzlitebeer7258 The first time I encountered it I almost died, definitely wasn't ready for it. Somehow managed to shout it and it took a tumble and I ran as fast as I could.
I'm really surprised they didn't include doom 3 - mirror, dark souls 3 - irithyl dungeon screaming loot, and fear - Alma and Paxton on either level of the ladder.
What first came into my mind was one of the chapters in Half-Life 2, when after a bit driving you encounter this empty house in the field. After going inside this house and collecting some ammo next to the fireplace, suddenly it occurs to you that this house is not as empty as it originally seemed..
If anything, in Jedi Survivor, finding the other Rancor in the Phon'Qi Caverns was a jumpscare. Honestly wasn't expecting to find the big bugger down there. P.S: Forgot to add... but what makes it worse, is that it respawns each time you meditate.
Dude there's a respawning Spawn of Oggdo just walking around in Untamed Downs on Koboh... it destroyed me. Not a jumpscare but pretty weird. There's also a Rancor there, and Soont Madas (the psyko who killed his brother) is also there. Wtf dude. Maybe I'm too young to have seen this kinda stuff in other games but it weirded me out! Btw that Rancor scare in Phon-Qi is real.
@crabniac Hmm, interesting. Perhaps it's a New Game + feature, seeing how you get a perk that randomises enemies, giving you tougher encounters in areas that weren't as tough before. Unless it's just a really rare encounter after defeating the boss.
My favourite will always be the haunted house in VTMB. Yeah, it's a vampire game so has a bit of a creepy vibe but the game is mostly fairly tongue-in-cheek, however that level scared the crap out of me as a kid. It was also running on the Source engine, but an earlier version, so actually beat Half-Life 2 to implementing physics in a scary sense, with crates flying all over the place as you toured the house, something gamers hadn't really seen done well yet at that point.
I must agree with you, that rdr2 jump scare really got me, it was sooooo unexpected, i nearly dropped my controller when i jumped back from the television, one of the most frightening jump scares i ever got in a video game
In "Rise of the Tomb Raider", the second bear hidden in a cave that's shaped like a upside down "L" gave me an unexpected scare. The first bear was at the mouth of the cave but I didn't expect two of them. The best in Batman Arkam City was Tiny, while on the raft, it took me by surprise.
In ES Oblivion what made that game scary was the NPC themselves. No joke, that woman from the thieves guild who searches for you and the guy from the mages guild when you complete a fortress dungeon.
I believe that a 2nd part of jump scares in video games is a must. My favourite one is in Crysis when all of a sudden, an alien flies in front of you in the caves.
Reaper Leviathans in Subnautica - despite playing it many times I still hate being around them. The one specific I still remember is like that: I was going in PRAWN on the border of Kelp Forest and Crash Zone during night (and roars of reapers could be heard already). At one moment, I accidentaly got out of PRAWN (pressed the wrong button) and swimmed forward for a second. Almost immediately, I heard the roar of reaper . LOUD. which would mean it's very close. I totally panicked and the only thought was: where is PRAWN. I got in it and ran as fast as I could from there
I prefer it when you can hear them. I play Subnautica because I have a fear of drowning so it's actually quite an intense experience for me and the most frightening parts of the game are the big areas of open dark water where you're imagining what will come out of it.
I'm drawing deep on this one! The Banshee coming out of the coffin in the original SHADOWGATE for Nintendo. That was one of the first games I ever played, and it's a core memory for playing games.
I'm surprised you didn't mention Grounded! That game is so scary when you first play it. So many streamers who stream that game literally jump out of their skin when they are suddenly jumped by the wolf spider or an orb weaver for the first, second, or third time. If you hate spiders, you will hate this game. Have you ever played it or watched someone else play it? I highly recommend it!
That PS Exclusive Mission in Hogwarts Legacy should have made the list, it was SCARY AF! Such a great mission but it had multiple jump scares the horror was turned up for that mission.
Most memorable for me will always be either the Dog when you open the front door in the first Resident Evil or the Licker jumping through the two way glass in the interrogation room of the Raccoon City police station in Resident Evil 2. I really can’t remember any jump scares in video game other than those two. I know this was primarily about non horror games but I just don’t remember any from non horror games.
More jump-startle than scare is the Marlboros on the Island Closest to Heaven in Final Fantasy VIII. You trigger a random battle and then it arrives with that "Hah!" That doesn't happen in any other encounter. It only surprises you the first-time, but I think it counts.
If you've ever played Detroit: Become Human there is one jumpscare in the game. In the sequence where Markus is first locating Jericho, he jumps into the ship and proceeds to walk through it with a flash light. Suddenly out of no where an android runs past him down a hallway and you just catch a glimpse of it for half a second before the android disappears behind another corner. Totally scared me the first time I played through that level, because it just came out of no where.
I hate jumpscares, but the one that got me so good that it actually made me laugh was in Prey (2017), in Psychotronics with the looking glass. Honestly a great setup, especially as if you find it, you're likely to be the kind of player who thoroughly explores and wants to learn stuff, so you're too focused to see how obvious it is until afterwards. Honestly a really great game all round.
In Black Ops 2 you go through a corridor that is completely flooded and a drowned body comes out of nowhere. It might not sound special but it happens so quickly and suddenly. Also, the tower of mice in W3 creeped me out more than I'd like to admit
I found in Mirror’s Edge in Chapter 4, you run up the stairs as you usually do and then a man comes out from the side and grabs you whilst tense music plays. It scared me the first time :o
For me that RDR2 jump scare was pretty tame, you can hear the bear way before. The one that got me was the Map Serial Killer near Valentine. That guy gives me the creeps. Hahaha
Time Splitters 2's first mission Siberia plays out like a typical fps game and on easy mode it ends that way too, but on higher difficulties all the dead bodies around the place are now walking dead with a loud siren going off, creepy as hell for a first time player
Doom 3 had an amazing jump scare. It actually had quite a few. However one scene has stuck with me. You see bloody footprints appear on the ground. Only time you see those. You can follow them and they lead you to the dead end of a corridor. Then you’d hear behind you, “They took my baby!” No matter how you try you can’t turn around fast enough. There was nothing there and the end of the corridor opens to some loot, but best (worst) jump scare in any game ever, IMHO.
Reminds me of borers in S.T.A.L.K.E.R. First time you encounter one, you just hear a baby crying. Just wailing away. Immediately puts you on edge, because iirc you're literally in a nuclear power plant, so why in the ever loving fuck is there a baby? But overly curious kinds naturally have to go look for it. It sounds like it's right behind a door, and when you open it, BAM. Mutated dwarf-like creature comes barreling towards you. Never went looking for any more distressed babies, I'll tell you what.
@@ledumpsterfire6474 I must have missed that. I do not recall a mutated dwarf like creature in the NPP. Or I just forgot as it's been a while since I played it.
Nothing scares me more than cs-fuvking-go dawg. Relying on your teammates holding your back, you see them cover the area, and still you get that unexpected shot in the neck, from an enemy (or teammate who wants to take the piss on tou) is something that makes me knee my table 🤣
I remember one that really got me was in TimeSplitters 3: Future Perfect. Much like A Hat in Time, this game played like a different genre each level. In the haunted house level, I was jump-scared so hard by the undead moose/elk boss jumping out of the wall from the mounting!
Honorable mention: Fable 2 when you walk into The Winter Lodge. I remember just standing outside the lodge, really appreciating the pretty atmosphere. Then I went in.
My most loathed jumpscare is the one in Luigi's mansion 3, the room on the 1st floor where you can go out onto the balcony and look through the binoculars. I used them for the first time and was confused at first why it wasn't letting me back out when all of a sudden the ghost just appears right in front of me. Like jesus christ I was not prepared.
If you thought that RDR bear one was bad try going in the back door(heh) that bear comes blasting out the door at you way faster than the front door. Damn near gave me a heart attack first time I found it.
For some reason, the Mortal Kombat one got me and it pissed me off too because it was so sudden, and I didn't have the time to know when there will be a jumpscare 😂😂
I would say the work station ambush from the Last of Us 2 deserve a place as well. It definitely ruin the sense of safety for rest of the work stations in the game.
Can't believe I don't find a video of it but the jump scare that got me best was when in Half-Life 1 you come out of the Black Mesa complex into this vast canyon. You're awe-struck by finally being outside and seeing the huge landscape, focus on not falling off the cliff and just when you try to enter a pipe to continue a headcrab jumps out of it
@@ledumpsterfire6474 It’s considered action/adventure. It’s debatable whether it’s truly a horror game or not. If it is a horror game, it’s pretty light on scares.
I'm actually pretty surprised that you included Batman Arkham knight! When i read the title I automatically thought about that jumpscare but thought that you wouldn't include it. Underrated game
The Snow Yeti in Uncharted 2.. it freaked me out so much when I was younger 😂 especially when it's already following you in the cave and the camera pans out
I agree with what you said about the Arkham games, Falcon. They all do have that spooky and Halloween feel, but the jumpscare in Arkham Knight is the worst that I've ever been scared by a videogame. That's the first time that I've jumped and actually let out a yell!
I feel like an honorable mention is in getting over it with bennit fody. Theres a specific part where you stumble on a church you have to climb, but when you pull yourself up and on top, bats fly out of the part where the bell would usually be. A screeching noise also plays. This is definetley a jumpscare uncalled for and can definetley starle players into falling who arnet ready. Theres also another jumpscare you can find. Shortly after, youll find a cliff that has an anvil. If you wait there long enough, a present will drop, wrapped and bowed up. Touching it results in the same jumpscare.
I forgot about the Bioshock Infinite jump scare. I’ve played through the game a few times and it got me every time. The footage you guys used doesn’t quite do it justice.
One of my best jumpscares was in The last of us, after Joel falls down in an elevatorshaft and the basemant is filled with water. You have to sneak out, but before that, you have to find a keycard and start a generator. You you sneak in a room to grab the keycard and when you turn around, there is a runner standing 2 meters infront of you...and then he runs away.
Love how whoever had to play that part in Infinite was still too scared to look completely at the boy of silence even if they had knowledge of it being there. lol
I've played through Arkham Knight numerous times and Man-Bat gets me everytime, also 1st bear encounter in Tombraider made me nearly jump through the ceiling
Id like to see a part 2 of this. My favorite jumpscare was from the original bioshock. You find either a tape or note in the medical ward. Its a hidden area, and when you turn around theres a doctor right behind you
If you want a good idea for a video, I would suggest 10 of the best pieces of music that really enhanced the tension in the game. An example of this would be the music used when you’re hunted by an alligator in red dead redemption two for the first time when trying to rescue Jules in the swamps.
This is not a video game in the typical sense, but the biggest jump scare in a nonhorror game I remember is actually Poptropica. It's a silent game (or it was at the time). One island has you looking through a telescope for a bit, and suddenly (and there's no way to know when) you hear a woman's voice ask "Are you looking for someone?" In literally any other game it may not have been scary, but in a game where you are not expecting any sound, it's terrifying. Especially since it's a kid's game.
as someone who has arachnophobia, grounded got me jumping and screaming a lot. im a quite person and just jump a little bit at normal jumpscares but huge ass spiders with red eyes behind you screaming is really scary
The jump scare in RIVEN (1997), when you're walking through a woody path and turn back the way you came and suddenly a small child is standing there watching you. I almost jumped out of my chair!
I played it a long time ago. It was an underrated game for sure. I don’t remember that specific jump scare, but I agree that it was a really clever way to do it. Raven Software made some great games many years ago.
Look at Singularity getting some love! It’s one of my favorite time travel games. I never came across that jump scare though. Like you said, I just stopped interacting with items like cameras.

By far the creepiest part of that game. Worse than even the invisible super troll

That one got me bad. Nearly jumped out of my own skin.
Plus the rat king jumpscare in the hospital
That one was more suprising than actually a jumpscare. More of a fight "oh shit" than a flight "oh shit" yk.
It felt like if in Resident Evil the enemy suddenly enters a safe room. And the backstory of those wlfs was very sad, they were escaping and thought you were the enemy.
@@TheMostGloriousBeard Me too! I really like a lot of the encounters and mechanics of TLOU
The one bioshock 1 was better because it wasn't obvious
@@TheRealUcanUwill oh my god literally same. first time i played through the game, that jumpscare did not get me one bit. every following time? absolutely got me. even though i knew it was coming, as opposed to my first playthrough. even just watching videos of it, i get scared. but idk what the hell happened that first time that it had literally no effect on me lmao
Should be able to head downstairs and get to Elizabeth now
@@BlackKoshinomiyou mean the guy that should be dead? Since that moment i shoot every corpse in bioshock games 😂😂
Is that the one with the rabbit mask?
I always assumed that the one in Infinite mentioned in this video was a homage to that exact moment you're talking about
yeeeeah, when you are in the medical pavilion (I think) and the room gets foggy and you can't see nothing, and when its visible again theres a fucking doctor right behing you. That scared the hell out of me
The introduction to Houdini Splicers, geniunely the worst jumpscare I’ve ever gotten from a game. That one got me good
Thank you!! That jumpscare was horrible. I dont know how many bullets I've wasted shooting the guy and his dead corpse after I killed him lol
That Bioshock Infinite one is probably the best jumpscare I've ever experienced. Nearly gave me a heart attack but I wasn't even mad.
well, in the end it was just a copy & paste jumpscare from bioshock 1 ^^
@@marcovonrodziewitz it was significantly better done than in bioshock 1 though
@@DaLooseGoose11 I disagree .
Pt 1 was random this one was obvious
My top 2 biggest jumpscares:
1) Fallout 4, I investigated an empty tent, I went in, looted it, turned around and a radscorpion popped out of the ground right in front of me and attacked me, it caught me off guard.
2) Playing with the spawn eggs in Minecraft creative mode and spawning in a ghast that immediately clipped into the landscape and screamed. Blew me out of my chair.
DUUUDE I THOUGHT I WAS THE ONLY ONE WHO DID THAG IN MINECRAFT LMAO
also i literally cant use ender pearls anymore, was decorating my little cave with shroomlights and turns out an endermite spawned above when i pearled up to place a light! i broke that block to check the noise and it fell on me. new phobia unlocked 🥲
I think the piano attacking you from Super Mario 64 is the most iconic jumpscare from a non-horror game
no
I was so scared I turned off my N64
i can still hear the noise it made when i think of it..... also the rabbit in the castle area with the desert painting got me. i didn't know wtf it was and if it was trying to attack me lol
Lol I remember being so scared of that piano as a kid that I would turn off the volume and close my eyes whenever I got to that part
That Bioshock Infinite jumpscare still gives me the chills just like the first time I played it. I took the voxophone, pulled the lever then quickly turned around. And the bootleg sirenhead enemy is behind me
The beginning of the asylum level in the Thief reboot about gave me a heart attack... I never trusted looking through keyholes the rest of the game 😅
Hands down for me the scariest level in a non horror game
Stopped me playing the game and I haven't played it since ahahaha
The jumpscare that got me the most in RDR2 was finding the serial killer (actually him finding me).
Ooh that one scared me too I actually did that one like a month or two ago
It was very effective.
wait, that demon door gets me every time and I've Fable 2 so many times. like, i know it'll happen and it still spooks me. it's such a good jump scare
I brought this exact same example up in one of Gameranx's other videos! Like another person said, I've played Fable 2 so many times but it still gets me every time!
You get a good weapon though
@@mryesgaming true, but I ran out of there screaming.
You have no idea how much I love #8. That's when ND stared playing with foreground and camera movements and really started doing cinematic angles in gameplay for me. UC3 would take that approach further.
👍🏼
You got unlucky with the Flatwoods Monster, they usually just disappear for me, which is annoying when trying to do certain achievements!
I knew exactly what you were going to say when you mentioned A Hat in Time. Vanessa's Mansion is actually such a hard turn into horror that the developers added in a way to just skip to the end of the level.
took the skip way every time 😅
The scream at the end of the ghost ship in Wind Waker got me the first time.
That Batman and Bioshock jump scare got me when I originally played those games. My soul left my body and I’ll never forget em 😂.
The Haunted Hogsmeade quest in Hogwarts Legacy was super creepy. Reminded me of the Weeping Angels from Doctor Who.
As well as that f***ing spider in the hallway.
Mate, I was thinking the same! Oh those bloody Weeping Angels 😱
I had no idea about the RDR2 one and I've played than game so much. It's crazy just how big and how many secrets that game has.

The first time I was attacked by a cougar in RDR1 gave me quite a jump scare.
The haunted house in Far Cry 6 spooked me pretty bad, because it was so unexpected. :D The "haunted house" in 5 was mostly just funny. The one in 6 was actually startling at points and the atmosphere was actually spooky.

What first came into my mind was one of the chapters in Half-Life 2, when after a bit driving you encounter this empty house in the field. After going inside this house and collecting some ammo next to the fireplace, suddenly it occurs to you that this house is not as empty as it originally seemed..
And also a screaming Stalker in HL: Ep1
Just playing Arkham Knight, and the joker jumpscares in the game are pretty scary!
I love you! Keep up the good work and that's for the whole crew even off camera
Gloom spawn in TOTK really got to me that first couple of times that I was always weary of any area with gloom 😅
The scariest one in RDR2 is when you’re in camp and Dutch pops out from your sleeping back and yells “I got a PLaN!”. Gets me everytime.
I've played this game a million times and brace myself every time and still flinch every time lol

The Trite coming out of that monitor you interact in Central Processing begs to differ. Caught me with my pants down.
Doom 3 was like all jumpscares. From not being able to use your weapon and flashlight at the same time to the hundreds of monster closets.
0:04 this actually jumpscared me so bad, wtf
It definitely ruin the sense of safety for rest of the work stations in the game.
i've talked to so many people about singularity and nobody i've talked to has ever heard of it. this is the validation i needed
This channel is awesome ! It's always great fresh content , other channels , they feel phoned in , this one never does ! Much respect 👍🤘
Glad you enjoy it!
Can't believe I don't find a video of it but the jump scare that got me best was when in Half-Life 1 you come out of the Black Mesa complex into this vast canyon. You're awe-struck by finally being outside and seeing the huge landscape, focus on not falling off the cliff and just when you try to enter a pipe to continue a headcrab jumps out of it
Depending on whether you consider it a horror game or not, I’d add The Last of Us Part II when you get ambushed at the workbench in Seattle Day 2.
The Last of Us is literally marketed as one of the most iconic horror games ever made lol.

The Snow Yeti in Uncharted 2.. it freaked me out so much when I was younger 😂 especially when it's already following you in the cave and the camera pans out
I’m so glad you mention Singularity. It’s an amazing, game very less talked about.
I love how Falcon always sounds like he's drunk when he does these videos lmao. Makes it so much more entertaining to me for some reason.
Id like to see a part 2 of this. My favorite jumpscare was from the original bioshock. You find either a tape or note in the medical ward. Its a hidden area, and when you turn around theres a doctor right behind you
The Broodmother in Dragon Age Origins scared the crap out of me the first time I played. All that buildup couldn't have prepared me lol
COD BO2 Mob of the Dead. Take a sniper and look through the scope on the roof of the prison, still gets me to this day
A jump scare that was really unexpected was from Band of Brothers: Hell's Highway during the hospital mission. That one got me real good!
as someone who has arachnophobia, grounded got me jumping and screaming a lot. im a quite person and just jump a little bit at normal jumpscares but huge ass spiders with red eyes behind you screaming is really scary
The jump scare in RIVEN (1997), when you're walking through a woody path and turn back the way you came and suddenly a small child is standing there watching you. I almost jumped out of my chair!
That jump scare in bioshock 1 was way better ..
I did not see that coming
lmfao i never played singularity but you're absolutely right putting that in number 1. that was so well executed
I played it a long time ago. It was an underrated game for sure. I don’t remember that specific jump scare, but I agree that it was a really clever way to do it. Raven Software made some great games many years ago.
