- The "Legends Quartet" performed at the banquet at the end of the last day of the 2014 PGMA (Pacific Gospel Music Association) festival. Comprising this quartet was event guest artist Ken Turner on bass (former bass singer for the Blackwood Brothers), Gordon Kuryluk and Ed Knox (co-chairmen of the PGMA), and Dennis Larson. This was held at the Hilton in Eugene, Oregon, on November 8, 2014.
Holy Molly! Ken drops C1 not once but twice! One of the greatest bass singers by all means.....
he is one of my favorite! im eager to share this with all my bass loving friends!
Ken was born in 1935 from what I could find. That means today he's 87 years old, and at the time of this recording, he would've been 79 years old! He was 79 and still was able to hit a C1 twice!
That descent at around 2:45 is one of the most impressive things I've ever heard. He looks like such a charismatic guy, too!
Ken Turner is the best
I like him better without the curly hair, it's more like I knew him. ❤
I love ken turner hes such a goof ball but hes an excellent bass singer
one of the most underrated basses in Gospel quartets.
He still does the thing with opening his eyes wide when hitting the lowest bass note at 2:50 lol
Seems to be having the best time ever up there lol.
Truly, a legend.
I once was lost in sin but Jesus took me in
And then a little light from heaven fill my soul
He bathed my heart in love and He wrote my name above
And just a little talk with Jesus makes me whole
Now let us have a little talk with Jesus
Let us tell Him all about our troubles
He will hear our faintest cry
And He will answer by and by
And when you feel a little prayer wheel turnin'
And you will know a little fire is burnin'
Find a little talk with Jesus makes it right
I may have doubts and fears
My eyes be filled with tears
But Jesus is a friend who watches day and night
I go to him in prayer
He knows my every care
And just a little talk with Jesus makes it right
Now let us have a little talk with Jesus
Let us tell Him all about our troubles
He will hear our faintest cry
And He will answer by and by
And when you feel a little prayer wheel turnin'
And you will know a little fire is burnin'
You will find a little talk with Jesus makes it right
Now let us have a little talk with Jesus
Let us tell Him all about our troubles
He will hear our faintest cry
And He will answer by and by
And when you feel a little prayer wheel turnin'
And you will know a little fire is burnin'
You will find a little talk with Jesus makes it right
Right, right, right
We all should marvel at and be so grateful that we can enjoy the talented folks here, especially Mr. Ken Turner. He has so much charisma about him and is funny to boot! Ken is a bass singer that will long be remembered for all he has put forth so all of us can appreciate the best of the best. Thank You Ken! Your voice reaches the stars!
hits a C1 like a Sunday walk in the park!!!
I can only go as low as A2.... makes me feel like an amateur.
No doubt I can barely hit a c2
Ingressive and subharmonics are the secret ingredient to most bass singers very low notes.
Ken is Blessed with a God given voice. He and J.D.Sumner were good friends.
Let all Creation cry out with joy for it's Maker for God is King and Christ is risen indeed just as He said. Alleluia.
Thanks posting!!! I agree that he is one of the best bass singers ever. Funny guy too. He did an entire song where he imitated brass instruments.
Mega1Happyman would love to see it if there's a video
Best bass singer of the history.
2:56 "Can you guys believe I just hit that?!"
Ken entertained the Fort Mill, SC First Baptist Senior Adult luncheon today. He was afraid the banana pudding was going to mess him up. But it didn't because we really enjoyed his singing and some comedy too. God bless you Ken.
His C1 seems so effortless and easy. Like he's not even trying
That guy is a national treasure lol...and I'm not even American.
Incredible lower bass
The part with Turner's deep voice start at 2:13
Impresionante!
What a spirit...
I'm not generally a fan of gospel music but ken turner is incredible.
I want to hear this guy on Sulfur Hexafluoride
Guao que voz mas espectacular la de ken turner un bajo para no olvidar un regalo que Dios le dio
Sensacional maravilhoso!!
This is great!
I'm trying to find a car subwoofer box big enough to put him in so I can place him in the trunk when I'm listening to my music.
Good Bass notes !
Awsome
2:42 you can hear him switch to his subharmonic voice.
I have somewhat expensive desktop speakers....they've never shook the table so violently at someone's voice before.... 😮
I think i cant make that last key even with my 5 strings bass
What is Ken saying during his line?
like those low notes
3:35
Ken Turner is a tuba! 🍷🗿
Does he live in 2020?
2:48 & 3:44
i thought the average bass singing voice started at E2, but this dude went to C1 so is he like a contrabass???
Bass profundo
Lettuce.
Imagine a bass trombone or tuba play this
as a bass trombonist im getting lightheaded just thinking about it
He has got to be one of the lowest bass singers of all times
He hits a C1, the only person I've heard hit it.
He's not the lowest bass singer - JD Sumner goes lower. HOWEVER, Ken's vocal fry sounds better than Sumner's pure bass.
2:50 lol
2:51
2:41
2:14
