Great video, big thumbs up to you for the desire and love you ha e for this engine. I have the W212 with the M156 engine. It's on a 59 plate. Which is in the so called head bolt weak era. I like you idolise this engine it is so rewarding to drive easy. But at the click of a finger it's a pure Brute. I've owned the M113k E55 and this engine/car has way more carracter. Really like your content on the M156. Keep it up. And get more to love this amazing built AMG machine. Btw I have been to Boston many years ago. And I attended to Boston Bruins ice hockey stadium. If you are ever in that side of town please pass on and mention in your videos. Great stuff. Your car looks fresh btw 👍
Thanks for watching and reaching out. It is a legendary engine period. When I did my head bolts they looked almost new, but I made a DIY anyway for others to see. I will be certain to stop by the stadium one day and perhaps even film in front of it :)

This car is in pristine condition. Those seats look like nobody sat on them. Great content!
I clean and condition the seats twice a year using highest quality leather creams :)

You didn’t upgrade when you traded for the E550! I think you did a big upgrade! Beautiful machine man! I love this car, I’m looking forward to buy one! My father is a taxi driver, and he bought a E220 back in 2009, I was 11y, and I love the car, there’s the new models that are really nice too, but this E63 AMG will always be a badass where ever he is!
Thanks man. W211 is indeed a very nice chassis. The AMG version is both sporty and comfortable, unlike the newer ones that ride very rough.

Like your context, you are one of the few people that review this vehicle in TH-cam, I’m thinking about getting a E63 but a bit scare of the head bolts issue, also since you daily this car what’s your average MPG?
Thanks man. Appreciate! If you ask me the head bolt issue is rare. The internet makes it sound more. MPG is around 11 when going slow in traffic, it is about 16-17 in the city during light traffic, and is 22-25 on highway.

What are your general thoughts on w212 e63 compared to w211 e63? such as build quality, driving feeling etc
Oh man... that's a loaded question, haha. I will try to give you a short answer on what I think. W212 E63 is a solid but different car. It has strong engine and transmission. Common engine issues may be stretched timing chain and cylinder scoring. MB used a different materials to reduce friction in cylinders which is the culprit for scoring.
They've used high quality materials in the interior, but some rattles and chirps may develop as the car ages. I would say W211 interior is more solid than W212.
We only get 4Matic W212 E63 in the US which means it is fast, can be driven all year long. W211 is RWD and much more fun to drive for me as I can spin tires, drift and power slide.
Forgot to be specific. Up until 2011 w212 E63 had the same m156 engine. If you find one that is late 2011 then you should not be worried about head bolts since MB updated bolts by then. You can check using the VIN. After that they used m157 twin turbo engine.
I couldn't agree more, the Mercs of that era are the last of the good looking ones with better quality, classier interiors. I owned a W211 about 10 years ago (albeit an E320CDI) & missed it that much that a year ago I sought out a V8 one, but they're quite thin on the ground here in the UK. The CLS500 W219 of the same era is a bit more plentiful & is basically a W211 in different clothes, so I ended up buying one of those.
Totally agree. Congratulations on the CLS. I love w219 CLS a lot. I always liked the front end of the newer CLS but not the rear. W219 looks perfect IMHO all around. I wanted CLS63, but also needed foldable rear seats which E63 offered.

What do you like the most about your car?
You will love this car until there are problems. First camshafts adjasters and camshafts with hydraulic valve lifter, then if you have an old type of engine block bolts, then there will be problems with them, air suspension, and all this costs decent money, remember this when owning this car !
You can watch my other videos where I talk about my 2.5 years owning experience. You can also watch my another video where I replace head bolts and show their condition. Head bolts- had minor surface rust; camshafts and valve buckets - in perfect condition; no adjuster issues whatsoever.
These cars are great if taken care of. Internet has ruined the reputation of them by exaggerating issues. All the issues arise from poor maintenance and late oil changes. Watch the videos from Tasos and he’ll say the same.
There are too many E63 owners out there with 150K+ miles running strong.
Still way cheaper than a car with similar performance. I know. I have a 2008.

It's blown way out of proportion, this engine has won Top awards, no engine is totally failure proof. All engines have issues. The problems are blow way over board. Get yourself a drive in one. And you will be hooked😁
Most of those who bad mouth m156 don’t own one.
