The w211 e63s don’t have electronic brakes, it has a traditional set up. You might be confused with the w211 e55s, those do have the electronic brakes that everyone complains about, but they changed them for the e63s.
@@elijahealks6098 nah i bought it used at 113k miles, i’ve put around 7-8k miles on it so far no major issues. a coolant line blew once but that’s about it
Very well informed review. My '09 E63 at 56k miles now and has never gave me an issue. None of the Mercedes that comes after it have caught my attention so I guess I'm driving my W211 to the grave!
My 2007 e63 threw a rod at 100k - $14,000 for a used engine. Rotors are $2500 each. Fun car. Loved it. Glad to sell it though too. It’s like a boat that way.
I am a fan of the W211 but I went with the E55 over the E63 since the 5.4L is pretty bulletproof as is the 5 speed transmission. Not to mention the E63 needs head bolts replaced to be trusted for the long haul. The M113k engine in the E55 offers the most in performance upgrades for relatively cheap, bolt-on parts whereas the M156 engine in the E63 is not as receptive to inexpensive power upgrades.
My fav E is the model that I think was discontinued after 2004. I always loved the two-tone seat version. This one isn’t too bad. Glad to hear it’s a decent buy, obviously if you keep up with the maintenance. I still love the roominess of an S class, even though I’d probably rarely take anyone for a ride. Nice to see certain Benzes that have good lifespans, and are not a waste of time after awhile. I know someone with an olderJag coupe that I’m like, why does he bother?
Yea I think I did a vid on a 2001 E55 and a 2010 S63 amg review as well. I too was happy to see how well this Benz aged as well as the chassis it handled really well
I am caught in between an ‘09 E63 w 67k miles and a similar-mileage E55. I LOVE the low-range torque of the 55, but it seems that the 63 offers the most well-rounded and balanced driving experience. It feels like a true trade off because the transmission and engine are more reliable in the 55, although they are both more sporty/linear in the 63.
I miss my 211 07 E550 even though its not as brutal as the E63 it can still get to dangerous speeds pretty quickly. As long as the headbolts we fixed or replaced this car is pretty rock solid prices on these are decently reasonable I think there at lowest pt right now before this car appreciates slowly. The 211 07-09 E550 probably the best 400 HP car you can get for under 10K.
@@MeynMotorGroup and finding a owner that took care of this car. When I had my 07 550 I was fortunate he did the repairs on the Airmatics and many other things on the car. .
If I was to ever get a old high performance sedan, it would have to be the E39 M5 with that 6spd manual. With proper maintenance, you can get up to 300k. I know because my buddy has one and it is a freaking blast in every way!
Gorgeous car, great review Kevin , I've been perusing several AMG cars, they are beautiful and are aging well. My neighbor has newer AMG sport utility and sedan, they just make your head turn. As you said they have presence. Refinement at a very high level. Get the warranty and ride. Thanks for covering these beautiful cars.
For the audio, just use the aux jack in the glove compartment with a good Bluetooth receiver. A cheap one from fiio should do (still overkill quality). You won't get the most out of the sound system without using your own music.
The only thing I've done is a transmission issue(5k bill) and bent rims (3x) in my time driving an e500 over the course of 20-25k. Really, fun to drive. But I'm a casual driver, I just like a big V8 engine. I always felt confident driving it on bends. It handles well to me.
These things can throw rods, have transmission issues, and a ton of other less major (but still relatively expensive) problems. I see it all the time, folks that are attracted to the 500hp and the low price, but don't factor in maintenance. You'll get guys that swear they've spent less than 3 or 4k over 4 or five years of maintenance, which is decent, but then you get soooo many other people that run into camshaft problems or rod issues, and boom, 12-15k repair bill. To put it bluntly, you'd have to be stupid, young, or have a decent day job to buy a 13-year-old used AMG. Beautiful cars, but there's a reason why you have to be relatively well off to afford one (unless you do your own work, or are very lucky, or both) P.S., I do like how you mentioned buying a warranty, that's smart for a used AMG. Thanks for the video, I just get frustrated with the other folks with titles like "I spent 25k on maintenance on my used Mercedes over 4 years" or something stupid like that.
