I've actually been waiting for someone to do a video exactly on this subject. All the Packard videos I've seen have the owner always trying to resurrect a single barrel Carter. About time someone did the right thing to increase performance and reliability. Good for you.
I had 54 Super Clipper years back that I put an Edelbrock 600 cfm manual choke on. Had to do the same thing you did by grinding the corner off the adapter plate and I had to retap a bolt hole. Ran pretty good but I think the 600 was a little too much for it. Unfortunately never did anything with the car. It was a mess. Floor was held together by hope. No front seats. The engine and drive train were in great shape. Gave it to a guy in the neighborhood who was interested in it. He was going to do a 350 swap but I think he passed away. I believe it's still sitting on his property. Hope someone else can rescue it and keep the original drive train.
First of all I love the car. It is awesome, a great project. It seems that the accelorator pump linkage adjustment is a bit restarded as the engine sort of falls on it's face when you push the accelorator. Just a by stander's guess. I love what you are doing to the car.
That's pretty trick man I like that. You think it made any difference performance wise over the ole twoBarrel? Nice car too , really makes me want to get an old flathead project car myself.
@@rescuerestorerepeat8500 Okay that make since, The Perfect carburetor ,would have been a Holley 2 bbl, whats the Piston size in that motor 3-31/2 inches it should have ran great with 2 bbl, I was given a straight 8 , I was going to bore max have a cam cut Just to see how much hp I could get.end up selling some one needed it .Good luck hope it works out, Merry christmas

Thanks
FYI, the last couple years of the Packard came with a four bbl. carb. It was a small-bore carb with mechanical secondaries.

Love the Packard! Glad you got a carb that will work for you. When you get it dialed in, take us for a ride sometime. Merry Christmas!
Thanks and Merry Christmas
It;s a beautiful machine! I really like your Packard. Love the low idle of the straight 8

Thanks I actually adjusted the accelerator pump linkage the other day and it runs a lot better now
Put the fuel filter between the tank and the pump.

Yes I think it made a difference in the performance it has a lot more power now and it runs a lot better and starts a lot easier too thanks
That thing sounds Like a lawnmower, LOL I can not Believe it did not start right up, That carb isn't new is it
The carb is brand new it didn't start right because the timing was off
