3:00. Just putting a note here, because I like to practice along in my way with caxixi and with tamborim. I pray someday I can visit and hear live music and dance in Brazil.
That is a very good point! Sometimes there are up to 15 Samba Directors that assist the "Mestre de Bateria" , kind of like the overall Samba Drums Conductors. These Samba directors are specific to different instruments - the snare, the surdo, the agogo, and so forth. The entire process is very interesting, because of the non verbal interaction with all of the Directors and sub directors. Below a very good article . You can use the translate function. Cheers! carnavalizados.com.br/anonimosdocarnaval/o-que-e-e-como-funciona-uma-diretoria-de-bateria/
I like how the camera operator lines up the view of the chocalhos so the one person who is playing with a totally reversed back-and-forth arm movement is hidden from view :-)
+Marty Mar Yes,! If you listen carefully you will be able to watch the grooves, which is called Bateria "paradinhas", which is when the samba drums section stops for a few seconds. Great!
+Marty Mar Yes, the grand master of this samba-School is very innovative. O love when he "stops" almost the entire drums section and hammers "all in" with everyone together" Great Drumming!

It's like the conductors are at a mixing board. A living, breathing mixing board with like 100 channels. It's fascinating!
