      One other difference is that his armor is almost always much more durable in the comics. Just the durability differences within the MCU between the solo movies and the Avengers is striking, with the armor being a lot closer to the comics in the latter.
      Stane is much more effective in the comics, having weaponized Tony's alcoholism against him. Whiplash's whips are MUCH more powerful. Justin Hammer is also an actual mastermind in the comics rather than being merely a pawn of whiplash.

      @@Bungycb Well, I guess via personality. The vibe of the live action version of him is very appealing and fun to watch. And then the suit, in comparison to comic book version, feels, or at least felt back then, as something fresh and new. Also the CGI of the suit was amazing back then. It felt like it was a real thing because they put some effort in to making that suit. And yeah, I personally liked the action scenes involving Iron Man in live action movies. For me personally it was fun to watch him craft something, make new suit or use some stuff that you didn't saw in previous scenes, which was a surprise. So yeah, maybe that's why live action version is better, but everyone has their own tastes so I don't know. If you don't like it then you don't have to like it. I personally like the live action version of Iron Man and that's all what matters to me personally.

    It's been many years since I last read the story arc where Iron Man faced off against Stane's Iron Monger suit, but I recall it as being moderately larger than the Mark 2 suit. Maybe half the size of the later Hulkbuster model. I had fancied the movie Iron Monger as being somewhat inspired by the old comic book villain Titanium Man, but maybe the inspiration was at least in part Gargantus, who I didn't know about until watching this video! I was still a young child when Shellhead (Remember that?) wore all gold and I never saw this early stuff in reprints. Thanks for this new (to me) information!👍

    In terms of personality, CB Stark is a mix between Don Draper and James Bond. He's got dry wit, but he takes his work very seriously, be it superheroics or running his company. He never berates people with sarcasm unless they're someone he doesn't respect, nor he acts like a class clown when he's in the room. He also is against killing, unlike in the MCU. CB Stark have killed, but never by pure intent, and if he did, he had to face serious consequences for doing so. The MCU ignored his struggles with alcoholism, which made him less interesting and relatable. Pepper wasn't his primary love interest, as she later married Happy Hogan. Stark's main love interests were Bethany Cabe and Rumiko Fujikawa. Bethany because she helped to get him through his alcoholism, and Rumiko because Stark wanted to start a family with her until she wasn't killed because of him. The movies omitted many of the supporting characters, like Mrs. Arbogast. They also did his villains dirty. The Mandarin was his arch nemesis and was the one who was responsible for why Stark became Iron Man. Justin Hammer in the comics was an old British weapon's dealer and a total sociopath who framed Stark for a murderer of an innocent man to ruin his life, which is where Stark's struggles with alcoholism began. Whiplash was a failed American businessman who turned into a supervillain to take care of his wife and kid. And Stark's relationships with his parents were far more complicated. Howard was a drunk who once put a glass of scotch in Tony's hand back when he was a kid and forced him to drink it. He would abuse him and Mariah (verbally) and often refer to him as a sissy boy because he wasn't manly enough in his eyes. Tony felt very distant with his parents. In the MCU it was toned down to just a generic ''dad didn't have enough time for me'' trope. His parents died because of a rival company, Roxxon, that tried to get rid of competition, not Winter Soldier, who didn't even exist in the comics back then. So on and so on.

    Some of the things from the comics really were not part of Stark's origin but happened many years later. For instance, what happened to him in Vietnam reinforced his dedication to manufacturing weapons to defeat "the Red Menace". When the political wind shifted in the 1970s, he stopped making weapons. Obadiah Stane was not part of his origin but came along around 1980, I think. It was Pepper Potts and Happy Hogan who married each other. Stark didn't start acting like a spoiled juvenile until maybe the 1990s. I think making him an alcoholic was also a retcon in the 1970s although it was believable. But some of these retcons are so recent that I didn't even know about them until I saw this video, like Howard and Maria Stark not being his biological parents. That's so far after the fact that I'm going, "Yeah. Okay. Whatever." 2012? Sorry. Too late. The statute of Limitations on uprooting and drastically changing his origin and background has expired. :) I love the movie Tony. In the comics, as time goes by, I think writers can't literally mess with the origins and early adventures of characters (other than pretending stuff that happened in 1963 happened in 2023) But they retcon a bunch of stuff into it, usually dark, basket case stuff. Bruce Banner's father murdered his mother and he saw it. Sorry for the wall of text. It's just that, for me, the comic characters now are just another alternate reality that I cannot take seriously as the characters from the original reality.

    • @Xenaboy-vt3hi
      @Xenaboy-vt3hi หลายเดือนก่อน

      Just to make it clear, that's not saying anything negative about the quality of some of the far more recent stories. It's just that there is a total disconnect in terms of being able to buy into the idea that the current Tony Stark is really the same character, the same reality, as the guy from 1963. Every shift in the timeline should be acknowledged as yet another alternate reality just as the Ultimate Universe was an alternate reality.

      If Iron Man were real, he would tell the government to fuck off in spending so much money on the war while ignoring basic needs in the country while also trying to get the conflict to stop just because fuck war. Civil War was literally Iron Man not trusting the government because he knew what their plans were if he didn't comply with the Registration Act and even in the middle of the Cold War, Tony still made friends with communist and socialist to the point that one of the Crimson Dynamo became buddies with him

      @@luisalejandrolopezbuendia9686 my politics aren't bullshіt, you silly redpilled schmuck. Yes, IRON MAN WOULD, BY ALL ACCOUNTS, BE ON UKRAINE'S SIDE, as he's always been ''don't hurt the little guy'' type of man. He stopped weapon manufacturing business because he was profiting from Vietnam War, a war in which the US were the invaders. Ukraine did not invade; it was invaded, by a bigger country, led by a full-on dictator with delusional ambitions and evil intents.
      He had intervened in conflicts even with his pacifist views. Like during the story when he helped bunch of monks to overthrow Wong-Chu's dictatorship by supplying them with his armor variants. Or when he met Ayisha, where in the story the aggressor was obviously post-soviet Russia.
      So yeah, Iron Man would help the little guy.
      If Iron Man were real, he'd not use the incorrect term ''spending money'' on the war when anyone with minimal knowledge on the subject knows that the US sends old retired weapons that were up for disposal, not actual money. He'd also know, since he was briefly the Secretary of Defense, that the US is obliged to help Ukraine after what happened in 1994 during the signing of the Budapest Memorandum. He'd also know that by saying ''fuсk wars'' without acknowledging who is the aggressor, you're being a coward who tries to stay neutral and can't call out the true evil.
      Tony never made friends with commies. He befriended Vanko after he renounced communism and decided to stay in American.
      So yeah, If Iron Man were real, he'd have UA flag in his Twitter bio and would meet up with Zelensky every few months.

    Original comics good after the 80s to now , it’s a grifters game mostly.
    All movies I can’t tell the difference between Batman and Ironman and then Spider-Man. You get what you get when you hire people that want to put their tart marks so they can put their name on it. The multiverse is a schitte attempt to throw crap at the wall , hide the holes in the plot and just fill the screen with nonsense.
    Could you image if they took the original comics and did it almost book by book.
    It would be the greatest marvel/dc movie. Think.
