Lately, my family and I have been a little homesick. We were supposed to be traveling back to Taiwan, but with life and many unexpected events, we had to cancel our trip. So I thought, why not surprise my family with an 8-course meal with dishes that remind us of home?
I started prepping the day before to help us save some time on the day of the dinner. We started with my signature Braised Pork Belly Rice, I then wrapped up some wontons and made sure to make enough to have some in the freezer for the future! Next up, the buns for the Gua Baos, which will be featured in my cookbook! We ended the night by marinating the chicken for the Popcorn Chicken, and soaking the rice for the Sticky Rice.
The next day, we started by cutting all the veggies and making the Sticky Pork Belly for the Gua Baos. We then moved on to my grandma’s Sticky Rice, which features my SECRET SAUCE!! We deep-fried the Popcorn Chicken and made a big batch of my favorite Spicy Cucumber Salad. Next up, we got Steamed Eggplant drizzled in the most delicious garlic sauce. We boiled up the wontons from yesterday and made a spicy dipping sauce using my secret sauce! And last but not least, we got the beautiful Steamed Fish!

Another amazing video! Love! I think it's so awesome that you're teaching people how to make Taiwanese food. For the longest time there were no good resources on TH-cam (Koreans had Maangchi and Seonkyoung Longest, Japanese had Cooking with Dog). Even though I'm Taiwanese I know how to make more Korean food because of this and barely know any Taiwanese recipes. Thank you for the Taiwanese food lessons!!!

I tried your chicken adobo recipe, it really is a rice craver. Have you though of doubling it so there's more sauce for the rice. Anyways great video as always and the food looked so yummy!
Looks good ! How do you keep the food hot since you're cooking everything in advance? Or how do you reheat everything to keep the texture intact?
Popcorn chicken actually tastes good even after air fry the next day!! Stick rice just needs a quick 2-3 min re-steam to heat up! ❤❤ rest I cook them almost all at the same time haha 😅
If you want to keep the fat in the Lu Rou Fan for a pot that size add a heaping tablespoon of peanut butter at the end mix well and all the good fat emulsify into the pot.

How do u make pickled parsnips which accompany falafels. Also hot sauce.
A delicious steam glutinous rice (dry) 20 minutes half cook. Ingredients: 1. Salted Egg Yolk 2. Chinese Dry Red Sausage 3. Braised Pork Belly 4. Shitake Mushroom (Cut Half or Whole) 5. Soft Small Yellow Beans (Triangle Dumplings) 6. Seasoning To Taste: Light Soy Sauce, Abalone Sauce, Dark Soy Sauce, Sugar, Chicken Powder. Cook the rice first before adding the mixture ingredients and resteam 30 minutes (50 minutes)
Braise Meat. Put fried garlic instead of fried shallots. Add fresh shitake mushrooms slices is delicious too

Tiffy, just curious, why do you use cornstarch instead of AP flour when you dredge chicken before frying? Is this a Taiwanese thing? Asking because ever since I started following you, I’ve been running out of cornstarch quick 😂
