I'm weirdly into the spider eye headlights, it's nice to see Yamaha thinking about headlight functionality. Riding the new MT-09 in the dark is like riding by candlelight.
Actually Bob if Yamaha want to make some improvements to the GT+ I would suggest the following. 1. Change the shape of the panniers to a more rectangular (user friendly) shape and change the split in the middle of each case to the top (when on its side) like a suit case lid. 2. The indicators need more than a single LED, they have the room to take 4 or 5. Have a look at the Triumph Tigers. 3. The hand guards should move independently from the levers, so you adjust each separate. 4. Longer mudguards. 5. Fully adjustable suspension. In A2 setting there is not enough rebound at the rear. In A1 mode there is enough rebound in the rear but the ride is too hard for a lot of roads. We need the flexibility to personalize the suspension to make a great bike a fantastic bike.
Yeah, hangduards in my 2022 9GT are mounted in the most stupid way. You can't set correct angle of levers because you have to move also handguards. I need to move levers down a bit but I can't because they hit tank when handlebars are near to lock. They added shitty looking lights an I think they will try to sell it for a lot of money lol.
After watching the new Tracer 9 video, I can only wish for one thing - I need to know what Yamaha's designers are smoking, cause this headlight is HIDEOUS ☠️
yes indeed, the front design once again is not at the level of the rest of the bike. The top part is ok, but the bottom one, with all those headlights, I didn't like, it's still a good bike, but I think the current one is even better designed, more attractive,.. anyway,.. it's something that's been happening , and it's not just the Yamaha, just look at the Suzuki,.. which in my opinion in certain models is even more shocking,.. it's a shame,..
@@MrRui33333 The previous Tracer 9 was beautiful (in my humble opinion) - it had the glorious MT09 gen 2 headlight, but now the really manage to ruin the last beautiful bike in their lineup... P.S. I think that most of Honda's bikes are beautiful, they are doing quite good (again, in my humble opinion).
All these manufacturers looking over at KTM and wondering how they can one-up them when it comes to hideous headlights. Amazing! And I say this as someone that owns and loves his KTM.
Long time motorcyclist who never really used high beam at night because gloves and the switching was too much hassle for me. I happened to be a part of the development of the camera/high beam/low beam system which we call SmartBeam with Yamaha. We used an FJ for the initial development mule for the camera system and it really was a revelation having the bike automatically switch between low & high beam at night. And as stated, you can disable the system anytime you want to and just flip the high/low yourself without any hassle. We didn't have any of the matrix headlight - all that development was done by Yamaha with the headlight supplier.
@MOTOBOB - you forgot to mention 2 things. The autohold brake system. No more squeezing brakes on uneven crossings. And as a second tire pressure monitoring system as standard by GT+.
Been riding for 50+ years and rode a ‘24 GT+ last summer, its sophistication blew my mind. It also convinced me that, for my tastes, its “character” isn’t for me. Still, brilliant bike!
Ich finde sie schön und werde sie nächstes Jahr kaufen! Automatik, elektrisch verstellbares Windschild, Griff - und Sitzheizung, Stauraum - der perfekte Ersatz für meinen Yamaha Tmax!
I love the rework also on the DRL blinker lights. Integrating them in the headlights gets rid of the (especially in the dark) irritating reflection coming from the deflectors. Small but very practical upgrade.
I am so happy they announced it right now - I just bought Tracer 9 GT 2022 with 1k miles on it with 30% discount from new. 2-3years from now I will swap it to the one announced today and again it will be 30% cheaper than the new one in the shop.
I own 2023 GT+ (with additional options, such as heated seat, grip heater and etc) and I find the new model front looks seem a little busy. If the new model's front end were designed more differently and keep the current GT+'s features intact and add the adaptive lighitng, I might have considered trading in my current 2023 model for this new one. But, as I am not really into the new model's design and features (and possible higher prices), I felt relieved as I have less urge to spend my money to get this new bike.
Having got matrix headlights on my car I am looking forward to see these in action as they are a game changer at night on the car so if these are linked to the IMU cornering lights should be much more intelligent and useful.
I'm sure it's a great tourer, commuter, all rounder, and a brilliant engine by all accounts + Japanese reliability. I just don't know if I cold live with those looks.
I love the advanced adaptive lighting tech. I like the idea of the automatic transmission, but I would kind of like an electonically sensed clutch lever to remain. Basically an effortless clutch that modulates the actuator to actuate the clutch. I have some tendonitis in my clutch hand and ride dirt bikes a lot, so commuting through traffic is sort of the straw that breaks the camel's back for me.
Kind of has the Harley Pan America and BMW R1300GS Adv vibe to it. Also their big touring rig. I looks good. A Tenere edition? Sure I won't be the only one question this. Has a center stand. Yeah boy. AT, they have used this system several years now on a SXS YXZ with paddle shift clutchless design. How similar it is I don't know. My Honda Rincon 650 has it, 2005 model, works wonderful. Full auto or full manual, just touch the button up or down. It automatically shifts down when at stop with either mode selected, so 20 year old technology that works. Hands down for safety. All good from east KY USA next time
I have the Tracer GT+ 24 model and absolutely love it. I like the look of it but don’t love the look of it. The new one looks a bit how’s your father to say the least.
Finally, Yamaha figured out it's smart to test the bike in a wind tunnel-better late than never! My biggest gripe with the 9 GT has always been the wind turbulence, so I'm hoping ...🙏
I like the AMT because i'm looking for a bike to commute. i sat on the old tracer 9 and felt it was to tall for me. Do you know if the Amt is coming to the FJR 1300. They def need to update the navigation on that bike.
I think it looks great. My only gripe is that every manufacturer are forcing auto gear boxes on us. You mentioned in the video that some people want radar tech and a manual box, I am that person. The motorcycle industry always talks about getting young people in to motorcycling, so why are they forcing old-man technology on to us?
Nice video, just like always. It is hard to keep the position of a very well selling bike. Certainly it is not a bad idea to update it, but in the same time there are not a lot of changes if we leave all that tech aside. Somehow they will get some new buyers, but I believe that they will also loose some older owners of the previous models. Opinions about styling are so different somehow. This is what I think and I am the Tracer 9 owner. :) Anyways... where is the FJR? That would really be a game changer. Anyways...
I have bad knees. A total knee replacement of the right knee. Is there a good knee triangle in this bike so I would be comfortable for any time? I'm 6 foot tall with a 32 inch inseam. Thanks and keep up the good work.
Wow thanks Yamaha. We’ll surely get that 2025 model in 2030 in the Philippines. We don’t even have the 2023 GT+ yet now you already have a new model. 👏
I'm a huge fan of Yamaha's Tracer and I issues with their suspensions but all that already been fixed. But those headlights are massive💀 I hope they are what they are, about what Yamaha has said.
single day! Only goes to show how damn good these kislux are visually. Now guessing which is the fake by feeling them both in my hands is another story.
Wow that’s certainly a look you need to get used too. I like the idea of better wind protection and less bufferting but people will need to ride it first before we really know. I like the idea of the automatic gear change, I use a DCT bike for my 100 mile round trip commute and the automatic is perfect for that so some choice other than Honda is welcome. Not sure it the adaptive lights are a solution to a problem which doesn’t exist. Looks don’t bother me too much but agree with others that it’s not a good looker, you don’t seem many of these on the road anyway, I wonder why that is!!
Thanks for your video upload. That front facing camera, controlling braking and speed while in cruise control is incredibly frustrating in my car, as anyone cutting in, in front of you automatically gets detected and brakes come on. It doesn't automatically re-engaged the cruise control either once the distance between you and vehicle in front reaches the set amount, you have to press a button which is labelled resume to get things going again. This is not the case with my older car, and using cruise control can be stopped by braking, and then resumed. So more driver involvement is needed. I just hope the Yamaha doesn't have any of these issues otherwise it would be deal breaker and or a frustrating waste of money. The top of the line GT plus in the current model range is already about $27,000 Aus dollars. Which for a bike with and engine smaller than 1000cc seems a bit steep, heading into Aprillia, Benelli, Moto Guzzi territory. A head to head comparison with the Triumph Tiger 900 GT Pro may be useful, as it is a comparable price here perhaps even cheaper.
Do you think the Tracer 7 is on its way for early 2025? I'm looking to get one for a first bike, but don't want to take a 2024 only for a 25 to perhaps come out shortly.
Surprised that the AMT is not an option on all 3 versions much like Honda does with the DCT. If for example you get DCT on an Africa Twin it’s simply an option I believe
I find this great! But what I would like to see is for Yamaha to update the tracer seven, and bring it to the United States. The fact that they don’t sell it here is frankly insulting just a bit.
I got this from their publication - loosely translated and summed up in English: "Advanced Millimeter Wavelength-Radar system - which is compatible with CMC system, working with wireless communication network, the radar-brake system will get its data fed from CMC automatically brake if other vehicle makes a wrong move (at least in theory). This Radar, CMC, and ACC integration will work in conjunction with the Advanced Motorcycle Stability System (AMSS) - this millimeter wavelength radar was developed by Yamaha - initially as a two-axis mechanical HXYx/Hirokeikan system was adopted for SAR". My head hurts... :D but I'm sure if you own one you will get a good use out of it especially on a long travel.
The top trim only comes in automatic? Why? Been noticing a bit of a push for more automatic bikes recently, and while I'm not against the idea and the tech, making models that ONLY feature automatic transmissions seems like a misstep to me.
i'am happy to have a t7, just basic, nothing can break. but would love a automatic as a second bike like the nieuw mt07. I wil never sell my t7, prob one of the last new bikes with normal clutch cabel.
I don’t mind the headlights. Looks like a samurai helmet . Also, I’ve never thought more light could hurt, bring it on. Probably light up a football field
The Y-AMT is great and everything but ... Because it's not connected to the IMU it shifts while leaned in the turns which upsets the chassis a bit and gives the rider this not good feelings of unpredictable shifting where normally rider don't
It was very funny to read all the hyperbolic comments of outrage regarding the looks. Although I am not aesthetically impressed, I will have to agree with other older gentlemen whose eyes are failing them and prefer to see at night. Also, it is nice to be seen during the day (I have had several close calls because cars failed to see me during daytime even when I was right there in front of them with my daytime running lights on). Another advantage in my books is the symmetry - no more squinting pirate looks.
Personally, not so keen on the Y-amt as the gt+ will be my choice, will prefer quickshifter and blipper. Other than that, the Tracer 9 GT+ remains my 1st choice.
Here's an idea: Instead of making only a few models of motorcycles and jamming so much crap into them that they cost twice of what they should cost.... keep motorcycles more simple, and make twice as many different models.
Sadly I don't think Yamaha or any other brand is going to do this today. Regulations have made it impossible. They would lose profits and business. Engine development is the biggest expense and hurtle to overcome. If you've noticed, they make 5-6 models all running the same engine. Why? Too costly to develop specific engines for specific models and sell them. Japanese companies used to do that, about 30 years ago.
I must be the only one who actually likes it lol... Wonder if the current GT+ would dip enough in price after this releases so i could possibly trade in my MT10 for it...hmmmm
The new headlight isn’t my favorite, but it’s not atrocious either. The rest of the bikes aesthetics are great though and I’m a big tech nerd who had been looking at the previous years GT+ so this bike has definitely caught my eye. And as I currently have a Honda rebel 1100 DCT, I’m curious how Yamaha‘s AMT compares.
@@russellschroeder3 not much difference there I would say based on my experience. sure each system has its quirks... but overall you will not see the difference
When will yamaha use this platform to make a new super tenere adventure touring bike with 17/19 tuneless spoked wheels or even better 18/21... 7 to 8 inch suspension travel with electronic suspension... I don't understand why they don't give a run for the money to the Triumph tiger 900 rally?
Hey Bob you think we'll have some kind of Superbike in 2025 that offers an automatic I've been waiting forever for something like that or at least a muscle bike. It seems like most of these automatics are for beginners I want some performance. The KTM sounds good but it's ugly I'd rather have the GT version.
Yamaha always have a trade off (at least for us in the Philippines). First they made a split tft which many didn’t like. Then they said we’ll make it one big tft with rader tech but it will not be available for you. Now they have radar on all models but if you want the GT+ you can’t get the manual option. What if buyers want the full package but with the manual gearbox? Plus the headlight is ugly
People were complaining about low beam on one side and high beam on the other side,...
Yamaha responded those complaints aggressively😅
🤣🤣🤣
Motorcycles for some reason suffer from horrible stock light, Yamaha finally setting a new standard.
Totally true 😂 I’m one of them

Agree, The suspension is a joke on this bike

Great tech, but looks matter so it’s a no from me

did I just see the windscreen setting on the TFT? 07:43 moment. Like electronically adjustable?

Wow thanks Yamaha. We’ll surely get that 2025 model in 2030 in the Philippines. We don’t even have the 2023 GT+ yet now you already have a new model. 👏
I think this is a gorgeous looking bike, but then I also love the look of the Pan Am.
Glad I didn't pull the trigger on last year's, I love the updates
Exactly, 😂🎉 the GT ice ceramic one 😢
I like the new front very much 👍🏼
It reminds me of the new BMW GSA.
When is available in the US?

I'm wondering if you know what version or versions will the US get? I'm not 100 percent positive, but I think we only got the plus in 2024

they've updated the MT07, an updated Tracer 7 /GT is imminent. Updated Tenere as well.
A face only a mother can love.
When will the y-amt versions be released?
Only positive point is that the curent model will drop a bit in price
I got this from their publication - loosely translated and summed up in English: "Advanced Millimeter Wavelength-Radar system - which is compatible with CMC system, working with wireless communication network, the radar-brake system will get its data fed from CMC automatically brake if other vehicle makes a wrong move (at least in theory). As you get older more light's 👍👍 I'm sorry but I'd like it if it was shaft driven , still driving my xj750 seca 40 years on
Does the entry model of tracer 9 have keyless start?
GT & GT+ only
Betting we don't get the dynamic lighting in the U.S. Audi's matrix headlights aren't allowed either with our antiquated lighting laws.
I don’t mind the headlights. Looks like a samurai helmet . Also, I’ve never thought more light could hurt, bring it on. Probably light up a football field
I thought it was impossible to design an uglier front end than the current tracer 9, but man they delivered.
I was complaining that the original looked like only one fog light was on and now I could go to a scooter meet up. You know 100 lights and mirrors 😂
Spider look with the light setup :)
Wait! The new GT+ has the Y-AMT as standard? Can it be had with a manual?
No. Standard and GT models only
This new design makes the choice easy, it’ll be the 2025 Triumph Tiger Sport 800 for me
The Y-AMT is great and everything but ...
Because it's not connected to the IMU it shifts while leaned in the turns which upsets the chassis a bit and gives the rider this not good feelings of unpredictable shifting where normally rider don't
The only bit I don’t love is the shifting on the gt+. I’d much rather have the foot shifter with quick shift
The bike is also 1 kg lighter in spite of the extra tech. That is impressive and Yamaha should get credit where credit is due!
Only a face a mother could love!

Yamaha: Not enough electronics. Let's mess with the lights and make a spaceship on 2 wheels. Don't worry about looks.
Here's an idea:
Instead of making only a few models of motorcycles and jamming so much crap into them that they cost twice of what they should cost.... keep motorcycles more simple, and make twice as many different models.
@@exothermal.sprocket so how are going to differentiate them and sell them?
Sadly I don't think Yamaha or any other brand is going to do this today. Regulations have made it impossible. They would lose profits and business. Engine development is the biggest expense and hurtle to overcome. If you've noticed, they make 5-6 models all running the same engine. Why? Too costly to develop specific engines for specific models and sell them.
Japanese companies used to do that, about 30 years ago.
I must be the only one who actually likes it lol... Wonder if the current GT+ would dip enough in price after this releases so i could possibly trade in my MT10 for it...hmmmm
I kind of dig it too
you are the person who saw the glass is half full
I sell you mine since I've ordered this one already :)
The price for the GT+ is £17000 in the UK. Its a bargain compared with other bikes with all the toys this comes with (Fully spec'ed GS for instance)
It’s the Griswald family truckster!
I like it's design.. not best in business but it's good enough thinking i don't need auxiliary lights
Looks cool and fulfilling👍
Personally I quite like the looks
I thought twin headlights were illegal on motorcycles ?
I don't need "dynamic" lighting, or automatic gearbox.
There was nothing wrong with the last gen headlight, my 2018 tracer is great in the dark, all I'd want is cornering lights like on my bmw.
Will the new model have car play instead of the awful garmin, will it be displayed at NEC ?
