When I was a child in the playground the kids were stomping on some spiders and an old teacher told them to stop as the insects were part of God's kingdom and children of God. It's one of my earliest memories and imbued me with deep empathy for animals ever since

I find it easier to be kind to myself if I visualise myself as a 4-5 year old, though I do forget often. I do have a photo in a frame. I write or talk to her sometimes or meditate with her. As always, wise words, because I tell myself I'm lazy. There's always an excuse not to do the 'work' and I know it! Perfect reason to write that letter. Thankyou! Love and blessings 🙏

Thank you, Lorna for your wonderful message! You are truly beautiful! I ask my Guardian Angel and all the Angels around me throughout my day, to give me increased love and empathy towards my husband because he is verbally and emotionally abusive to me. I feel the Angels are always trying to show love to me, giving me compassion and hope and teaching me to give myself more love ❤️

I have too much, I struggle with it. I can’t watch the news because of it. I stay home most of the time. I had a really hard time with it as a kid, because certain family were mean to me and nature, but if anything, it made my empathy stronger.

I'm trying to strengthen my empathy muscles back after it got atrophied due to years of neglect and apathy. And Lorna's message is a great reminder for me. I'm committed to never let my empathy atrophy like before.. So, I keep making an effort to practice it. I keep asking myself "What's that experience is for that person?
"What is it like to be in thier shoes?" Or "What causes someone to say or do something?"
The more I try, the more I can see the humanity of others even underneath the so called wrong action. I see that people are complex, messy and imperfect but people nevertheless and worth showing empathy for.

Thank you so much, dear Lorna! I'm so painfully empathetic and I suffer so. Yes, the children need to be shown empathy for nature, but many of their parents never were, and don't show empathy for/to their children. So many animals and beings, large and small are abused, neglected, disrespect, imprisoned and enslaved etc. It's soul crushing. Thanks again for your messages! Love your heart 😇

Hi Lorna, thanks for yours wonderful words, I think some times, we have false beliefs about nature, because for example the spider say us, its dangerous, and spider have a space in nature, Thanks for yours words about empathy, because I have hard in deepen in mysefl!!

lorna you are so right again! however, your empathy should be pure. so if you empathise with or for some one or something your drive should be to 100% to try your best to make them feel better. so if you are doing it so you can be accepted into heaven or because you dont want to end up in hell then you are doing the act of good to help yourself. when i see an insect of any kind even spiders which i really find a bit scary drowning in some rain water in a container in the garden i feel like iv just seen my dog or family member drowning and spring into action as soon as possible. i was born this way so i dont have to try and do the right thing. im autistic and dyslexic with ADHD and SPD. I think that helps to be an empath. take care to you all. love to everyone and everything. one blood!

May I ask a question that address the flip side of the issue? I find that I have too much empathy and then I can feel the emotions of others (animal, insect and human) and oftentimes it just makes me feel sad.

I so relate! My empathy led me to stay in narcissistically abusive relationships. But I had to learn how to love myself first. I’m sure there are exceptions to the rule of empathy and love no matter what. I can love my ex Narcissistic abusers from a distance. The only reason why I stayed in the relationship(s) so long was because I saw the narc as God sees them. My empathy became a weapon against myself. Ultimately it became my saving grace when I loved myself more than I loved that individual. A whole life lesson learned in 59 years.

Thank you Lorna! I struggle with having empathy for insects. Our city has a problem with black water bugs. In the summer I find them in my bed. When I go out on the patio in the evening there can be 10 to 20 crawling around. Plus, spiders and other insects. I always apologize to the insect & to God when I kill them. But what am I supposed to do. I don’t want bugs crawling in my bed when I sleep or when I’m awake! Help!
