    I’m still learning but I like the idea of using canvas as a base. It’s sturdier than fabric fusing yet more pliable than cardboard. 👍

    I’m 12 minutes in & I have to say (as an amateur seamstress) it’s so refreshing to see someone actually sew the buttons & other embellishments on instead of breaking out a glue gun...that’s archival quality! Adorable journal, I think I will also try this! TFS & keep the videos coming!
    One quick tip for you though: please do yourself a favor & invest in a good rotary cutter & rotary (self-healing) mat for cutting fabric instead of using the paper cutter

    All I can say is...wow. This was such a long video that I watched it in pieces throughout the day WHILE I was running out to my studio to work on my own (humble) junk journal. I have to say, I was assuming that junk journals were something that could just fall together, but as I start to put one together, I see how very much imagination and creativity you have used here!!! Gosh, my little projects are plebian by comparison. However, I'm inspired now and will push into adding more and more and more bits and pieces and attachments. I loved this being in time-lapse without just a bunch of talking and waving of hands, LOL, that I often find on TH-cam videos. Less talk, more action, I want to say !! THANKS !!

    Amazing... watched this over and over .. how do all of your papers seems to be just the right size? I struggle with that,, seems like I spend a lot of my time cutting to right size..

    • @MarinaWilsonSaySomethingCrafty
      @MarinaWilsonSaySomethingCrafty  7 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Thank you, Letty! Fold your paper in half and measure length and width, make your cover a quarter inch to a half inch later on both sides. Most normal paper measures 11x8.50 Fold it in half and it measures 5.50x8.50 so if I don't want to cut it down I would make my cover 6x9! I hope that helps. Let me know if you have any more questions! I'll do my best to help!

    I really enjoyed your process and the finished product is beautiful. The video was long. I think there was time when the camera could be shut off. Also, music was intermittent. However, I'm not trying to diminish what you did. It was awesome and I did enjoy watching it regardless!

    • @MarinaWilsonSaySomethingCrafty
      @MarinaWilsonSaySomethingCrafty  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you Kelly. I had a lot of requests to make my videos longer so I did my best without making it too long or in more than one part. I think on those long parts people just skip ahead when they feel the need. I'm not sure what you mean about the music, it plays through the whole video but I'm sorry if you didn't find it to your liking. I will continue to learn as I go on how to improve my videos. Hopefully you will enjoy the future videos more!

    I love this journal it is so beautiful, I'm inspired to try to make one. I am going to try to get that sewing machine from hobby lobby. Is it hard to work, I'm old and trying to find a new hobby and I don't need anything to complicated LOL, but I stumbled onto journals and I love it. Have you had any issues with that machine? Anyhow your journal is beautiful, thanks for sharing.

    • @MarinaWilsonSaySomethingCrafty
      @MarinaWilsonSaySomethingCrafty  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you so much, Etta! I hope you find that it isn't too complicated and that you enjoy creating journals! I did in fact have issues with my Janome after a while. The needle started jamming and just being completely stubborn. I didn't know when I purchased it but for the price I paid, I feel it put in a lot of work before quitting on me. If you're looking for a long haul sewing machine Janome is not a good choice. I would get a more trustworthy brand like Brother or Singer. I got a new Brother sewing machine and while it is a little more money it does more and has been very reliable and versatile. I hope this helps!

    Do you call the canvas you used "rolled canvas"? I've only ever seen stretched canvas for painting.

    • @MarinaWilsonSaySomethingCrafty
      @MarinaWilsonSaySomethingCrafty  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, I called it rolled because its in a huge roll! Like a rolled up carpet. Haha I used it originally to make my own stretched canvases to paint on. Way cheaper to buy a frame and stretch your own canvas than to buy it already stretched. The roll I have I got for about $30. It was $90 but I used a 60% off coupon at Michaels.

    There has to be something wrong with your machine. Poor thing I felt so sorry for you you have to rethread your machine over and over and over and over I've noticed it in several videos. I wonder if your tension is off? Do you have your thread spacing set long and wide like a basting stitch that way the stitches aren't so tight. Types stitches also cause it to rip to the paper sometimes and also causes your thread to come unthreaded.
