So good to see keyboards and other musical instruments demonstrated by someone who actually plays them, musically. So many reviewers and (well-off) gear owners merely create unmusical, mechanical sounds/noises or play keys in faltering slow motion. So often I’ve heard great synths sounding awful in so many other reviews. Here you get to hear their potential and true value as musical instruments
Every instrument is a tool, even the new and flashy midi/vst/modern synth like this (awesome) one. What matter is the soul of the musician at hand. And that, mister Claudio has almost to infinite. That's why he is the best to show a new instrument for us, because it inspires us to do our own music too. Thanks Dr Mix and Arturia, keep doing what you do!
I never get tired of Claudio improvising, so definitely LONGER videos! Normally more of a Yamaha fanboy but this is a beautiful looking and sounding synth. Those pianos man 😲
Finally, a professional guy that knows how to demo this new device!! 👍🏻 THE BEST video out there, including a sustain pedal 😂 what couple others failed to have ....
Surely One of the best acoustic piano sound I've listened in a pure synth. GORGEOUS ensemble strings, also... But its price, at moment, it'snt a joke!!!!!
I just saw a really horrifying video that disturbed me so bad. I needed to click on something that I knew could get me out of that place. Dr. mix to the rescue! Like five seconds in huge smile on my face! you really do have a pretty special personality man! Much love brother❤❤
Arturia is doing a great job. Is a great player in electronic music industry. And will become bigger. Their software and hardware are great and intuitive. Deserves a longer video !!!
No. The Hardware ist really bad. I tried for months to assign the buttons from Keylab to Studio One. It did not work. Then I bought an Alesis master keyboard and it worked straight away.
Agreed. I'm a V-Collection and FX Collection user and I must say U I find Arturia's software products amazing. I can't speak for their hardware tough, as I've never used any of theirs.
And this is why you're one of my favorite synth and keyboard demonstrators on YT. You play your ass off (and you've got serious FUNK!) and you have the joy and passion for music...you HAVE to have joy and passion and put that into your playing to really connect with other humans and bring people together, which one of our most important jobs as musicians. Keep doing what you do, you rock man. If we can't spread love and joy through music, why are we even on this stupid ball of dirt hurtling through space in the first place? Much love and respect.
So satisfying to see you play and tweak it as it should be done. Can't wait to see you delve into its expansive plugins that make it a great stage piece. Thank you!
One difference between this guy and the other channels is he actually has talent playing. BTW I already have Arturia collection as plugin so there's no need for wasting another penny.
I never get tired of hearing you getting the most out of all the instruments you play. ❤ It sounds a bit like Gattobus and Vangelis together through my JBL headphones. Super stereo.
Great video as always. Seeing the Hammond C sitting in the studio brings back memories for me. I carried one around for 15 or so years with a Leslie 145. A great combination. It took its toll on my back. It's one of the few keyboards I have played that would growl back at you thru the keyboard as you played.
Exactly this. This is part of why I almost always drag furniture to my gigs. It's not just the sound...it's the feel of sitting at the console and digging into it and it digs into you too.
I'm in love, those piano sounds are so spot on,and the variations are amazing and realistic representations of pianos you have Heard in your life. Just amazing. Yoiu asked for it: LOOOOOONGER 😀 Thank's a lot for this absolutely gorgeous unboxing !!! We want more of your incredible energy and positiveness (and sounds). Thanks for all your work.
Claudio you don't need this unit you can do everything this does on several of the many synths & plug-in's you already own. While there's nothing wrong with that, we all can't own every cool new Synth or Pro Audio product that's ever been made. Besides so many of the newest products include so many upgraded redesigned versions of our Oldest and most useful favorite Gear. But again we win in the long run when we get a new Hi Tech version of that unit built without any of the problems that will one-day cause us to face a costly repair we could avoid. It's nice to hang on to our old Gear that was much harder to purchase when we were young guys just starting out dreaming of the day or praying that the one piece we wanted so badly was just a dream. Even if & when your entire family believed in us so much.. That they all one night were drunk enough that they secretly came together & chipped in to buy us that one thing we cried for God Jesus & his mother Mary to make a miracle for us. Hoping we could have the Tool we wanted so very badly. Now Imagine if your family had raised the cash way back then to surprise you with a Brand New 70' Hammond B3 or C3 and waited to stuff it under your pillow like the Tooth Fairy had been there. They paid the retail price of $3700 & that was with a deal they got from your Uncle Enzo. They now owe the Mob favors for many years to come, for saving them so much money ha ha.. The Organ he got for you turned out to be an old used Farfisa Combo Dlx. It was also stolen 15 yrs ago, from another family friend & hidden in flooded basement. Sitting in the darkest corner under an old WWII Army blanket. It was there so long no one knew if it was still there. Embarrassed that all tried to forget about it even had hoped it was gone. What you stupidio she no was stolen. The truth. They lent some one the money to buy it . but he never paid them back for it. So disgraced by not keeping his promise which was a big deal back then the entire family hadn't talked for years because of it. Worse no one knew how much he owed them for it. He was just a kid when it went down. He just didn't want to be seen playing in a Rock & Roll band using the new expensive Cordovox his Dad had bought as a gift. Grampa said It was piece of shit, used & beat up when he got it. Which made him hide it down there. Grampa was the only one who knew the whole story. He went with Frankie to buy it from a high school kid. Papa said this is what you want so much that you cried to get it. Yes Papa I can't be seen with that Accordion when all the other kids have modern Organs like this. And The girls Frankie ? Is it part of your on stage look. Yes Papa I just wanna be handsome & sexy those other guys can't even play or sing well. But they have Rich families who can buy them the best. And she would have to go to USA no family could come with her. She cried a little bit, she said I knew I would need to go to school for yrs I wanted the big money so I could buy everyone a new Car & a house. Do you know how much that would cost ? Even the very Rich Movie stars don't make that much. Ok at least I can still make my family & friends very good food. And maybe one day we will make beautiful babies together. That's all I ever wanted me too. So I asked her to marry me and we all have each other to love as a big family. No body owes anybody any money let's uncover that Organ to see if it works Besides do you know how much a Hammond B3 & a Leslie 145 speaker cost back then. But you have one now don't you & it's like new your friends took good care of you. Now enjoy it we can always sand it down and paint it pink a paint the old Rhodes Pink too will you be happy then. See you're just a cry baby always have been. But you can play your ass off that makes me so proud of you
I ordered mine already. Exactly what I wanted, no need for a computer, MIDI keyboard and audio interface when I want my Arturia V Collection/Pigments sounds for live use.
Wow what a great Synthesizer. I absolutely loved the way you played Chariots of Fire. You did that so beautifully it brought a tear to my eye. I actually had to play it over another 6 times. I would love you hear you play the full Chariots of Fire on this synthesizer.
One can see how this would be good as a gigging keyboard with easy access to sounds, tonal modifiers, and FXs via the knobs. I doubt it would maintain its pristine appearance after 12 months of load ins and outs to gigs. It would definitely need a custom flight case for transport. As for studio use as an additional keyboard I think sample libraries and software instruments, including Arturia's software don't place it high on the acquisition list with the on board sounds. Unless, you are wealthy like Doctor Mix : )
I keep dropping the same comment on all the reviews for this thing in hopes Arturia takes note. I would have already placed an order if they gave a price break to current owners of the current V Collection, otherwise it is just asking me to buy the same sounds twice. Love the concept, just can't get over that hurdle at the moment.
Congratulations to ARTURIA !! I own some other keyboards and as a software-developer, I know that it is much easier to make something similar to existing products. Respect, ARTURIA made a lot of things nicer, more beautiful and much more modern than anyone could ever expect. A really impressive product for a good price! Nice wooden ends!
I really want one of these as my first real synth. I like that it is geared more toward live playing than tweaking patches (I have an MC707 for that). Yeah, it ain't the cheapest, but with the variety of high quality tones, it’s no different than buying a quality guitar for around the same price. Just gotta save up.
This isn't particularly expensive by stage piano standards, that said I'd argue it's very much one aimed at those people who would lean towards actual synth sounds instead of the traditional staples of sample-based stage pianos. This completely lacks the organ-oriented controls found on Yamaha and Nord units for example.
Great review - obviously it it is 10x more powerful if you buy into the software (which just about doubles the price!) but out of the box that is a really giggable keyboard. Loved the Moog Bass / Rhodes duet!
❤ Claudio you are always the best in showing true live playing capabilities of a piece of gear! Now we want a longer video where you show us more sound from other engines!
No question Arturia software is awesome sounds fantastic. I think putting it into a stand alone keyboard makes good sense and does fill a certain niche. Lovely looking thing as well...But do think the minimum controls, weird little screen etc seems pretty steep at the price their asking.
Sounds good, especially the pianos. Wish you had previewed more of the brass, woodwind sounds and informed the audience what it was connected to for amplification. How did the keys feel? Were they sturdy or flimsy? What didn't you like or thought could have been done better? The bottom line - Would you buy it?
Typical Arturia: an attractive case in white metal and light-coloured wood; instant gratification when playing it; external power supply (unfortunately). Knowing the KeyLab mkII, the keybed is going to be nice, and the overall instrument sturdy and solid. It's not really that different from that KeyLab and Analog Lab or the V Collection, except that you don't need a laptop or PC. Beautiful. Not for me, because I'm not a performer, but this is the perfect instrument for quite a lot of people. I've said it before: Arturia is my favourite synth manufacturer of today. They never disappoint.
You will need a laptop, and the correspocding licences of the V Collection if you want to actualy edit the sounds. Out of the box, at 1600€, it's just an expensive Arturia's plugin player with a short keyboard, bi-timbral and a limited polyphony.
@@FLH3official Maybe so, but Arturia are very good at what they're doing. How big of a corner of the market they can capture remains to be seen, but what are the alternatives? Maybe the Prophet X, and while it has analogue filters, it's considerably more expensive. Forget that there's a PC inside. You have to compare it other 61-key performance synths.
@@FLH3official If you go for V Collection, you will add a midi keyboard, and a computer, so it should be more expensive if you are a mac user, and probably very expensive too with a PC capable of playing music plugging ( needs a lot of ram and CPU ).
@@aymerictortat8621For just playing the sounds of Analog Lab no need for a pricey laptop, a second hand MacBook air and a cheap USB audio interface are enough. If you do the maths with an Arturia Keylab 61 essential at roughly 250$ new (Analog Lab and more included) , an Apple refurbished MacBookAir M1 at roughly 800€ and a cheap audio interface (a Minifuse Arturia at 140$ new for instance) ... And you get a larger screen, and a little computer, in the bargain. It will be cheaper & more powerfull (not just bitimbral). The only downside is everything is not in the same piece of equipment, you'll have to plug 3 things. I understand this fact is important for some people.
I like what Arturia is doing with this concept. Hopefully, that keybed is playable enough and maybe if they could make a 73 key version this would be nice to take to a gig.
Interesting keyboard, but I would have expected a 73-key version for this price (£1599)... an 88-key around £1999... and this 61-key around the £1200 mark, personally. Not struck on the WHITE either... black preferred... so it will be just like Arturia to bring a black version out about a year or two from now.
This thing scream for an upgraded version with poly aftertouch and ribbon controler with the choice of 73 and 88 semi weighted key, the concept is good enough for that.
A Roland MKS 20 / RD 2000 / Motif Power Grand patch then I’d consider it. The sounds are fine but many won’t ’cut through’ in a band situation. Just ask Elton - he’s still using the Roland/Yamaha set-up to this day.
I wish this came out just over a year ago when I bought a Keylab 61. I wanted the power of Analog Lab in a lightweight gig synth without having to bring a laptop. I might swap them.
1:30 American Grand sounds exactly like a Piano V3. This keyboard seems to be a stripped down V-Collection slapped into a KeyLab controller. Which is not a bad thing - V Collection is perfect.
I own several Arturia products - excellent - but am still stroking my beard and wondering what will this add to what I already have - apart from a beautifully designed keyboard (controller) (and a dial that looks like a Nxxx thermostat). Beautiful playing once again from Claudio
the keys look verrryyy uneven... and I was worried about the 1-2 keys on my Nord Stage 4 Bei 0,2mm uneven... but this looks much more prominent.. that keybed looks more like my vintage Crumar T2 than a modern keyboard... 😆

More plz, on the Rhodes again...
Your playing skillz are awesome 😎
They took the damn Nest thermostat and put on top of the keyboard lol.

💯 agree. Musical reviews are so much better than technical reviews.
I am part of the ARTURIA family, Bravo Claudio for paying homage with your talent and your passion. And thank you for the wink to Vangelis.

Please don't forget: this is an awesome keyboard but it does not buy talent and skills like Doctor Mix! Beautiful demo!
Oh man, i love your videos you are the electronic culture itself haha
No question Arturia software is awesome sounds fantastic. I think putting it into a stand alone keyboard makes good sense and does fill a certain niche. Lovely looking thing as well...But do think the minimum controls, weird little screen etc seems pretty steep at the price their asking.
Sounds good, especially the pianos. Wish you had previewed more of the brass, woodwind sounds and informed the audience what it was connected to for amplification. How did the keys feel? Were they sturdy or flimsy? What didn't you like or thought could have been done better? The bottom line - Would you buy it?
In my opinio the Arturia acoustic pianos are the worst. Augemented/hybrid definitely usable, but not the acoustic pianos.
Thank you for posting this.
Deep breath. Ahhhh. Thank you!
Always a pleasure watching dr mix video's! ❤
Actually Quite good looking keyboard! I want one!
I like what Arturia is doing with this concept. Hopefully, that keybed is playable enough and maybe if they could make a 73 key version this would be nice to take to a gig.
Awesome presentation, Claudio! When did you get that beautiful Hammond C3?😊 The Hammond deserves a special video, hope you will make it soon.
I am a fan of ARTURIA!!! love it
Interesting keyboard, but I would have expected a 73-key version for this price (£1599)... an 88-key around £1999... and this 61-key around the £1200 mark, personally. Not struck on the WHITE either... black preferred... so it will be just like Arturia to bring a black version out about a year or two from now.
Man @7:50 that's an awesome sound with the left/right channel swaps
This thing scream for an upgraded version with poly aftertouch and ribbon controler with the choice of 73 and 88 semi weighted key, the concept is good enough for that.
A Roland MKS 20 / RD 2000 / Motif Power Grand patch then I’d consider it. The sounds are fine but many won’t ’cut through’ in a band situation. Just ask Elton - he’s still using the Roland/Yamaha set-up to this day.
At last some VANGELIS (3.50), very beautiful played on a instrument that is.......wow. Thanks for this.
DUDE! That sounds fantastic!
Best Demo . Hope they let you keep it
He's pulled of the screen protector - that's how you mark a synth as your own! :-))
Neeeext video, longer please !!!
¡Así se prueba un nuevo instrumento! Bravo Paolo.
Yea thats my thoughts too! I thought they just basically put the plugin INTO hardware, which is awesome in my opinion!
I own several Arturia products - excellent - but am still stroking my beard and wondering what will this add to what I already have - apart from a beautifully designed keyboard (controller) (and a dial that looks like a Nxxx thermostat). Beautiful playing once again from Claudio
A little giant experience, zaac!
Man! PLEASE showcase that organ in the background!!!! 🥳❤️🎉
Now that's a sound. Amazing. Agree with others it would be good to do a reconstruction of some piece with the Arturia.
the keys look verrryyy uneven... and I was worried about the 1-2 keys on my Nord Stage 4 Bei 0,2mm uneven... but this looks much more prominent..
that keybed looks more like my vintage Crumar T2 than a modern keyboard... 😆
Vangelis es un instrumento muy expresivo, congratulation a la firma Arturia.
shine like a star 👍
It sounds really good...and yeah, what a beautiful keyboard!!
4:00 it was like Vangelis wanted to try this synth so he came inside you and played it!
