Just purchased a Pro500 and was pleasantly surprised. I had seen videos where people had sand fretts, well that's not a great big deal when you pay 250.00 (that was my cost), but I didn't, the fretts were polished, no frett sprout. I did remove strings and clean and oil up the frett board but I've done that with guitars that cost 4 and 5 times as much the neck was straight. I did put in a bone nut that I already had. I'm pleased to see this video because I knew I would acquire more plugin pickups.
True Story... I have a dozen guitars, Les Paul, Firebird, Teles, Strats, Ibanez RG, ect. Recently at practice I brought my first guitar, an old 1977 Ibanez LP copy, equipped with GFS Dream 90s, my drummer stopped in the middle of rehearsal and complimented me on my tone, stating that was my best sounding guitar.
This was an AWESOME demo, Perf!! Best I have ever heard from GFS... You should try out the Dream 180s and also the Mini Humbuckers with the slightly overwound in the bridge position. Two of my absolute favorites! Cheers!
Great video! I really appreciated your approach of comparing the pickups. I ended up here after just noticing the Surf 180 on GFS' website. Thinking about one of those for a guitar with a Surf 90 in the neck position (currently the lipstick humbucker in the bridge position). Also thinking about a Crunchy PAT in the neck position of a different guitar and probably a Fat PAT in the bridge position. I just became a Subscriber and need to figure a way to get out to the LA area (from the midwest) to see RockStallion! Keep up the great work!!!
Cool demo. I really want to check these out. I'd like to get a second Les Paul, and put these, or something like them, in it. So many completely different sounds out of the same guitar... By the way, this is the first video of yours that I've watched. Subscribed, and I look forward to checking out the stuff I missed.
I’ve been wishing all pickups were like that for years now. I’ve only ever replaced a dead pick up once. I’ve never been sure what I wanted without trying it in a particular instrument and what if I didn’t like it? Theses quick change units could help me figure out what I really want without hours of soldering etc. very cool product.
I have used the P90 in humbucker case, the vintage 59 alnico 5 humbucker, and the retrotron liverpool humbucker...all in sets, and I am sure there are better pickups....but try to find them....for their price...
I’m really curious about splitting the surf 180s. I assumed it’s just the 2 coils, with 3 rods each. If that’s the case, maybe pulling the tap switches the wiring from series to parallel? If not, it must have two full length coils with hidden poles under the covers.

man i want more GFS pickup reviews
I love my Surf 180s!! I've always thought that Fender's Wide Range pickups' pole pieces are oriented incorrectly. These pickups got it right!!
Yes! GFS initially told me the splits won’t work so I was pleasantly surprised when the splits did and made the Xaviere twang
Was jumping on here to rave about these 180s ... they sound fantastic!!!! Can't believe more people haven't found them.
Great Demo
Nice job! I really was feeling those 90’s! I want to see you demo the Nashville tron pickups.
That Surf 180 is awesome.
Excellente demo, and your playing is awesome, best demo from GFS since a long time :)

NIIIIICE!
A dream for the tweakers! Solid.
Wasn't certain about pre-mounting alternate pickups with rings. Thanks for affirming that.
I Have GFS Mean 90.. sobrang ganda nakalagay sa SG epiphone ko.. bigay ng tito ko from USA
A great comparison, thank you!
I have a qwikplug harness and classic II Alnico 2 pafs in an LTD Viper. Amazing system! GFS rocks!

For a closer P90 sound y'all should try the Mean90's instead of the Dream90; way more aggresive sound
I'll check those out
Great demo thank you so much ... a lot of value for tone seekers

Welcome to the thing!
Thank you for sharing clean tones. Lot of videos just demo what sounds best on that specific set, which might be really saturated drive.
My pleasure! Yeah, less saturation lets you heat the pickup’s voicing
Great reviews

Yup! And the points of contact are solid
Solid✊🏽

Ganda ng mga guitara

You may be on to something with series/parallel tho GFS did tell me that coil split won’t do anything. Still a mystery
I have my Dream180's set up pretty much the way the Surf180 pole pieces are set up, it is way better for a neck pickup to be set up like that
I have a D'Angelico SS Premier and i was wondering which pickups from GFS do you think would be perfect for jazz?
I really dig Surf 180. How do they compare in sound quality to bigger brands? DiMarzio, Seymour Duncan, Lollar and others?
Which pots did you use on the dream 90s?
250, 330 or 500?
Stock pots so 500
How much?
Cheap.
Each individual pickup is in the $30-$40 range. Very cheap for what you get.
