I have a Godin Session (HSS) I'm about to swap out the neck and middle with GFS "60s-70's Grey Bottom Non-Stagger vintage" single coils and putting a Fat Pat Boutique in the bridge. My band does Goo Goo Dolls / Gin Blossoms style rock, I hope these pickups will work out. I hear such mixed reviews on them, but given the price, I'm willing to take the risk.
So did it work? I have the very same guitar, but I never liked any single-coil pickup on it, and i tried many. I like the DiMarzio Cruiser on the neck tho - the ones Andy Timmons uses. He uses the bridge version on all positions. I paired that with a custom ceramic humbucker on the bridge.
I have the surf 90s and it's awesome. I wanted a cheap dynasonic copy but the surf 90 sounds more like a tele and jazzmaster with the bass response of a humbucker. Nothing really sounds like it and its now one of my favorite pickups. I'd definitely consider gfs first over seymour duncan or dimarzio if you want to save some money.
I've got a beautiful flame top Les Paul MIK edition. It's got several issues with the electronics. Gfs is who I've decided to buy all the replacement stuff from. Quick plug harness, alnico 2 neck, and a veh extra hot in the bridge. Most of my guitars have Seymour Duncan, DiMarzio, or bill Lawrence pups, and I like them, but after doing several builds and mods, I've realized, you don't have to spend a ton of money, to get a good sounding pickup. GFS is killing it, imo. I can't wait to get that guitar back together with their parts.
I have thought about that exact combination. I love the alnico 2. Its got the Slash woman tone to an art. I just don’t know about the VEH . They might over power the neck pup. I think the crunchy pat is a bit better pup. They sound eerily similar to the veh but nowhere near as hot
The Fetishizing word play would’ve worked, had you also done a play with the pinky finger at the corner of your mouth. As in Dr. Evil, God Bless my man
Nice vid, I have sold about 8 partscasters to working musicians using gfs tele and strat pups. They all loved the sound and these were for example pups i had paid $15 for the tele and strat sets. If you order during their holiday sales, you can get up to 30% off. They are very well made and do sound great! My favorite so far are their vintage strat set ceramics. Another really nice inexpensive set are the Wilkinson alnico 5 strat set for about $35. An established NYC guitarist who plays a $1,400 Fender strat said that my $350 partscaster with the Wilks did not sound as good as his Fender, BUT it was "UNCOMFORTABLY" close. LOL. so ignore the gear snobs and like GS&T is saying here, try the reasonably priced gear , you just might be surprised. oh yeah i forgot give guitar madness pups a shot too, they sound incredible for not a lot of $$$.
Hey thanks for chiming in. The demo at the beginning featured various pickups of theirs thus removing the need for additional separate clips. I used varied tones, tunings and styles. I hope your day improves bud. Sorry the video wasn’t to your liking

I like to play most clean on the verge of break or just over and back off the guitar volume to clean up... Any input welcome. was also sort of interested in gretch style or p90s they have.
I just finished a scratch build a couple months ago. I put the the Crunchy PAT set in it in the bridge and neck positions...and a Dream 180 in the middle. Love them, so much I ended up keeping this one for myself instead of selling it. I utilized three (on/off/on) toggles for pickup selection. Each toggle is wired so the down position is humbucker mode, middle is off and up is single coil. You can imagine the tones that this monster can produce.
