The baby can only request parents status changed when they turn 21 (or 18 if in military). However, since baby is a citizen they are eligible for a host of benefits like WIC, Section-8 housing, medicaid, etc, on which mom can piggyback on without hurting her immigration petition requests.
People have to start taking responsibility for themselves. You don’t make babies if you can’t take care of them.

They get better treatment if they have anchor babies in the United States as the baby is automatically a US citizen and therefore given benefits: WIC/Food Stamps, Section-8 housing, Medicaid, tax credits/future stimulus checks, etc… all of which the mother can piggyback on and simultaneously does not count against her when she files for her asylum petition and eventual green card request. Even if they get deported, the kid can request a green card for their parents when they turn 21, or 18 if they join the military.

I am sooo confused because Maria knew that she was pregnant prior to coming here and for some reason thought that everything was going to be handed to her. I feel bad for none because they have been warned by multiple politicians at least two months prior of the evictions. As well as the weather so they had more than enough time to take a free flight to a warmer state. It is a shame how much these Spanish women constantly jeopardize these kids. Citizen 's kids would've been taken away. I'd say to put the kids in care for adoption for couples who have trouble conceiving and deport the terrible parents!!!

Years ago I was a volunteer teacher of English as a Second Language to new immigrants in Toronto. They were all eager to learn and grateful. We also took them on field trips to show them how to use public transportation, the post office, libraries, and shop at a supermarket. It seems to me that the people shown here could have used the year they spent in hotels with so many free services learning to speak basic English. How else will they be able to get a job?
By coming here the legal way and taking the time the legal process took to learn basic English.

I was once on the train a couple of months back, and a homeless gentleman came onto the train, and In a very calm tone he asked all the passengers on the train why the people who just arrived in this country were getting placed into hotels while people like himself and others have been here and homeless for years and the city wont lift a finger to help them. As a native New Yorker you hear and see alot of homeless on the train, but this was the one time that it genuinely brought me to tears. We have to fix our problems at home first before we start shipping busloads of migrants into the city. If you are in NYC after 8 at night you will truly see the underbelly of it. Homeless sleeping on the trains, in the train station, using a garbage bag as makeshift pants, people openly injecting in the subway stations. And what do we do about it? We deploy hundreds of cops to make sure people are paying the fairs and giving out bogus tickets. NYC has one of the highest tax rates in the country, plus they employ hundreds of traffic police in cars to dish out tickets that can be more than $150. This city is corrupt, with weak leadership(also corrupt leadership-- mayor Adams), and cant care about the actual residents of the city.

@jg8464 Yes, crime was much higher, especially because most people didn't report crimes back then, it was likely much worse than officially acknowledged. However, immigration was much more moderate and didn't kick in until the mid-1980s. You never saw Mexicans in NYC until then.

Maria Guetto and husband are the perfect good example of people not willing to give their 100% to succeed. They are hoping and expecting the city of New York will solve their problems as long as they can get away with it. We are hook with her future child for the next 18 years because is obious they will not be able to care for themselves. She complains that we are not fair, maybe living in Venezuela is better of staying in the jungle is more comfortable than the tent city in brooklyn.
The best part is , her child will be a full citizen because of birthright

Some of them can start getting cleaning jobs in the hotel. Why not? I don't appreciate that most of them just think they can forever stay in the hotel, enjoying a good time in NY. I know a 28-year-old girl bringing her 4-year-old daughter to NY. They immediately went to her sister's home in the basement. The next day, she was put to work in a cleaning job (despite having a college degree in her country). Many families benefit from her help by using her services.
