- This is a tool-assisted speedrun. It was made on an emulator with tools such as save states, frame advance and TAS input. The goal is not to demonstrate skill or compete against real-time speedruns, but to demonstrate how far a game can be pushed to its limits.

The all dungeons category is defined by reaching the post-boss save prompt for each dungeon, as well as defeating the final boss. Timing starts upon file-select and ends when Link stabs Ganondorf in the chest.
As with all TASes, this one is not perfect and can be further improved. Since this took roughly 4 years to make, new strategies were found along the way that would have made the run even faster. One such example is the Faron gate clip (23:47), which I didn't do the first time going through the area as it hadn't yet been discovered. Adding the clip in the first run-through would mean re-TASing many minutes of gameplay, meaning a lot of effort I didn't feel like putting in.

I love this game, but as someone who doesn't know the Speedrun, this is mind-blowingly crazy and sooooo cool!
This was a friendly reminder I do not have the skill or patience to start speedrunning Zelda Games, lol. Jokes aside though, the movements are absolutely insane and I can see why TAS is required for this. Even I can tell that no human would be able to perform half the skips with the efficiency of the TAS, or even at all in some cases. I honestly wonder if this can be broken, or if, by the time I'm writing this comment, it has been broken.

tas is like song writing... certain commands or patches (melodies or chords ) are recorded and optimitized step by step and if one sequence didnt work you try again and rerecord and when you put the whole sequence ( most optimal ) inputs together you get this

If you save and quit, you will always have minimum 3 hearts when loading the save file.

This was made and recorded on an emulator, where you can upscale the internal resolution. In this case, 4x native gamecube resolution.

This is not me playing with a controller. TAS means Tool-Assisted Speedrun. It's made on an emulator with save states, slowdowns, frame advance and some other tools. The goal is to create a speedrun as close to perfect as possible, to see how much you can push the game's limit.

I'm actually really torn when it comes to stuff like this. Mad respect and kudos in figuring this stuff out and making it. ... But absolutely NO interest or entertainment in watching it.
I think it's interesting in that it shows the current theoretical limits of what a speedrun could be like if it weren't for our limits.
Some tricks are near impossible using a physical controller seeing as you can input on every single frame.
The rolls throughout the run and dialogue boxes are likely frame perfect.
Otherwise, I can agree that it takes out the competitive skill aspect of speedrunning if you can just create the "perfect" run.
Though TAS runners have shown off glitches in various games that were adapted into regular human runs, so it's not entirely without value.
