  • Whats Happening Everyone! Hope you are all well. Another quick project build for you. A downdraft table. nice simple build and essential to any workshop. It really helps pull the sawdust from sanding down and away from you, its something I have been meaning to build for awhile.

great job . a downdraught table is brilliant. a great place to store it is on the drill press table, put a few buts of timber around the metal table to stop it moving. put a replacable part in the middle to drill into. its great to hold the piece down and to suck up any dust. ypu could put a wider hole to sweep in shavings. i would round over the holes to make it easier to pull the dust in.

You are never getting that lid off again! LOL. I am cleaning up the workshop, designing a new storage system with French cleats and hunting for materials in the ceiling joists to keep busy. I love useful projects, so thank you for this one.

Nicely done John 😁. Looks like I "need" one of these, will prob have to make mine a little shallower so I can store it when not in use 🤔. I have been using the top of one of my home made MFT cabinets as I made it "torsion box" style so it's already a box with holes in the top and works OK. But a dedicated one will be better 😁. Thanks for the vid John 😁👍

Great build John, only thing I would suggest is to countersink the holes to smooth the flow of air and help catch more dust. Keep up the good work, and stay safe 👍

Cheers John, I'm a new subscriber who has always had an interest in DIY and has taken up woodworking in iso. Thanks for the simple projects to get me started on my journey, I especially like your video on simple jigs as I don't want to spend heaps of cash on things if I can make them myself.

Great project, seeing as you have a void under the baffle would you cut a slot, to hold sandpaper etc.

@@JohnMcGrathManInShed I don't have an MFT yet, but I am about to build a downdraft table. Seems venting with 20mm holes on 96mm centers might allow me to more easily integrate the clamping and holding of whatever I am sanding. Also, THANK YOU for all your amazing content.
