I'm 64 years old,this is my first time commenting about anything but when I googled FMC Link-Belt (1979)excavator I got to say something.i operated that one machine from 1979 to 1996,you had pedals for the bucket & stick levers for boom & swing,at first in 1979 it was a weird setup for me but I got use to it,I was 21 years old.that was a VERY good machine for the 17 years I operated it!!!,not DRIVE it OPERATED!!! IT!!! lol anybody can drive a piece of equipment BUT can they OPERATE it,there's a big difference just ask any veteran operator,,,those were some of the best and happiest years of my life, I miss them years...
You bought a great machine!! Company I work for has 2 case 9040s which are identical but with the cummins engines and they both have 21000 hours and are on their second and third under carriage and are still going out on jobs when the other shovels are out.
Looks like a great machine. I am running a Link Belt 350x3 right now. Really impressed with it. Never ran a Link Belt before, but after this I would consider buying one. The 350 is too big for what I usually do but it is kicking ass on this job. Hope this one works real good for you. That thumb looks real nice and heavy duty too. It's going to be hard and frustrating going from hydraulic during the week to fixed on the weekend.
Hot dog looks better in person can't wait for the new vid hopefully we get to see you running it a little bit maybe a little clearing or digging???????

I need an calclator when you are telling the measures :D But nice looking machine, I dont think in here Finland we have Linkbelts unless someone has brought it, but not common atleast... Nice to see also other makes than Cats and Deeres etc, nothing wrong with those but atleast from finnish eyes these are rare machines :)

looks like you got yourself a nice machine, nothing a pressure washer wont fix. That mud in the cab has got to go, that drives me crazy.
That Thumb looks really well built with heavy components; I guess you will put this to the test soon enough.

I think Sumitomo makes those Linkbelt excavators, as well as the Case excavators.
Yes they do, also build JCB. I have a 200 and a 60 sumitomo, great machines....
