Welding and Running Link Belt 2800

  • With crappy weather and all this Corona down time I stopped to do a bit of maintenance. I had to haul the good welder out to rebuild a bucket pin on the backhoe so as long as it was here then might as well weld in some pin stops. The issue is pins turning outside of their hardened bushings. When pins turn in the cheeks of the thumb then the wear is concentrated in a far narrower area, an area without replaceable bushings and without any grease. I can't undo the damage that had been done but I can keep it form getting worse. The biggest change was the thump pin. Far less slop in the thumb now, I think I might have it rotated so the wear on the pin and the wear on the thumb no longer line up.

    Is that a Chevy S-10 u have as a rock crusher? I have a 1992 blue s-10 still driving it daily.

      Lol, yes. It us a 1984 long bed 2 wheel drive with the 2.8. Totaled out buy insurance company for a sideswipe. Was my mother in laws old truck.

      @@acme663ryo awesome I also had a 1982 S10 with the 2.8 v-6 I donated it. My 92 has the 2.5 4cyl iron Duke motor. I love watching your vids and hope to live somewhere like you in the near future.

      @@acme663ryo I just recently bought a 2800c2 Linkbelt. Has a few issues but overall it seems to be a good machine

      @@tttco sounds great. I hear many have issues with electronic throttle but I can assure you, they work just fine retrofit with a manual. Have to bootleg guages on the dash however.
