I always found it funny when throughout the series people would say things about the accidents how they're "unrealistic"...while I'm thinking "Dudes, death doesn't play the 'realistic' way, it does whatever it damn pleases." XD
@@carameldiva5131 I keep hearing this, that’s so cool. Unfortunately I had it on VHS at first for ever, but I’m willing to buy the dvd just to see lol 👍
When Alex saw the lightning strike the ground earlier in the film, it was a premonition of his own "death" when he saved Clear near the end. He doesn't see the exact way anyone will die but the elements that combine for the next in line's potential demise.
WHEN PPL ASK ME WHATS MY FAVORITE HORROR MOVIE I SAY THE FINAL DESTINATION MOVIES. REAL HORROR MOVIES ARE LIKE COMEDIES TO ME. THESE MOVIES MAKE YOU REALIZE HOW CLOSE TO DEATH WE ARE WITHOUT REALIZING IT. WITHOUT OUR CONTROL SOMETHING COULD BREAK, SLIP, SNAP, COLLAPSE, IGNITE ETC. AND IT COULD ALL BE O.V.A!!! LOL LBSS GREAT REACTION. DEFINITELY CONTINUE THE SERIES. YALL WILL LOVE THEM ALL.
Hey guys!! I’m 38 living in NYC, specifically The Bronx. I grew up watching horror movies. It’s my #1 fav genre. Watching you guys watch majority of the horror movies I grew up watching in my pre teen and teen years is soo dope and entertaining!! I gotta ask when you guys will watch FINAL DESTINATION 2?!
I hope you continue with the franchise, its one of my favorite ones. The 2nd movie has one of the best openers, the 3rd one is most people's favorite, the 4th one is the only bad one of the franchise, and the 5th one has one of the best ending twists of all horror cinema
The script was finalized around 1998/1999, and John Denver passed away in 1997 so his death was fresh in everyone’s mind. It would be like a Final Destination character today hearing a Liam Payne song while walking onto a balcony and thinking “he died by falling off a balcony.” A small coincidence but an eerie coincidence nonetheless.
It’s always good to see channels watch these movies for the first time. Fun facts i picked up and like to share on new watchers of the series: • Much of the news footage shown is actual footage from the July 1996 explosion and crash of TWA Flight 800 off East Moriches, Long Island, New York. Not only does this film borrow footage of the crash of TWA Flight 800, it borrows other things as well. The flight was carrying a high school French club, it exploded suddenly and was investigated for a possible deliberate act causing the accident - first a bomb, then a surface to air missile. As with this film, it was ultimately decided that the crash was a result of mechanical failure (explosion in the central fuel tank). •The story was originally going to be the concept for an episode of The X-Files, which was inspired by Sole Survivor in 1984. In this movie, a woman who was the sole survivor of a plane crash starts to be haunted by dead people that Death uses temporarily as vessels trying to kill her to correct its plan, and killing everyone who suspect about it. •The numerous appearances of "180" in the film refer to the film's original title of "Flight 180". New Line decided to rename the film to "Final Destination" through fear of confusion of other films like Air Force One, or Con Air. •287 people die in the Flight 180 disaster. In the real disaster, 230 people died on the plane, the 3rd deadliest aviation accident in U.S. History. • Clear's cabin is the same cabin seen in Lake Placid. •The music played throughout the film was by John Denver, a musician who died in a plane crash a couple of years before this film was made. • In Alex's premonition, Tod is one of the first to die, he does not die from the explosion but actually dies with his neck broken from the impact of the music player during the turbulence. • After Terry dies, the bloodstain on Carter's face looks like the number "5". He is the fifth survivor to die, after Death skipped him earlier. •The plane set was built on a gimbal to make it shake. The plane set was later torn down and changed to Clear's top floor which she runs through in the storm sequence. •In the last scene at the cafe. The sign that breaks free from its holding brackets spell 18o in reverse (i didn’t notice that until i rewatched it) • A romantic subplot between Alex and Clear was deleted from the final cut. The infamous beach scene originally ended with both of them kissing, and Clear later finds out that she is pregnant. There is an alternate version of the scene where Alex saves Clear from the wires, but dies from both electrocution and catching fire. Clear then has her baby, whom she names Alex, and together with Carter, she creates a plaque for their five deceased friends which is placed on the memorial. When Carter laments that Alex never got to see his son, Clear assures him that he does, as she feels Alex' presence every day. A romance between Alex and Clear (without a pregnancy) was retroactively used in the sequel.
The final destination (Final destination 4) Is the only one that is almost universally disliked by fans. All the other entiries get plenty of love, so you should be good if you decide to continue this series.
Mann I always remember watching these movies growing up as a kid, the roller coaster one is my favorite! I think it’s either part 2 or 3. Also the antagonist or that being is a manifestation of Death itself.
This is a classic, and the series is mostly good. 2 is awesome, 3 is great, it dips a bit in the 4th film, but then it totally redeems itself in the 5th film.
Definitely watch the other Final Destination movies. Also, check out the movies House of Wax(2005), Wrong Turn(2003), The Texas Chainsaw Massacre(2003)(Remake), The Faculty(1998), and I Still Know What You Did Last Summer(1998).
Yes!!! I second his recommendations - These named films are all Top-Tier Horror films (And if this film causes trauma wait till you guys see The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2003) Remake - Which is inspired by true events - I still have nightmares from that, lol).
@jacksonharris05 u think your nightmares were bad, imagine getting locked in a bathroom at your cousins house then he turns off the light and whispers candyman×3
@cocolokoflacco showing my age here but me and my cousin had scary movie marathons all of the nightmare on elm streets, Halloween chuck's, Friday the 13ths and then up to the room to fall asleep. Tell me why there was a picture of Freddy on the ceiling? 😮😅
The film is based on an actual event, the explosion of TWA FLT 800, a Boeing 747-100 that subsequently crashed into the Atlantic near East Moriches, New York, on July 17, 1996, 12 minutes after takeoff from JFK, on a scheduled international flight to Rome with a stopover in Paris. There were no survivors. Parallels between the movie and the actual event include the type of aircraft involved, departure airport, both planes had students heading to Paris for a class trip, both planes exploded not long after takeoff and the cause of the explosion was the same in both cases, I believe. The news report Alex watches shows actual footage of TWA FLT 800's wreckage burning in the water. I would imagine the relatives of those killed probably weren't fans of this movie. Another thing I noticed about the film are the frequent references to water. Water is everywhere. Water is commonly a symbol of death, burial and resurrection. Death seems to be personified by water in the film. Seems like it was raining at the airport. The plane's wreckage falls into water. There's the water in the bathroom when Tod dies. There's a scene with Alka-Seltzer being dropped into a glass of water. There's the steaming kettle and the water leaking from the cracked mug. Alex almost drowns in shallow water. There's the canoe trip. There's the swimming-pool. It's raining when they're in the car. One of the characters is even named "Clear Rivers." Even the beer they're drinking could be considered water. Likewise, the Vodka, which means "water" in Russian, I believe. "Water, water, everywhere and all the boards did shrink." Also, all those electrical events in the film are analogous to water. Electricity is commonly analogized to water, e.g., electrical current etc. So, electricity = water = The Grim Reaper. It's great to find all this symbolism in a film that's primarily meant to be a good, albeit somewhat gruesome, entertainment, which it is. Of course, there's also the somewhat more obvious references to the number 180, John Denver, who died in a plane accident, etc. Oh, don't forget six months = 180 days, guys! Also, the signage at the end in Paris also has 180 on it. 180 also means turnaround, so it could also be a warning, at least initially. Another thing I saw was the use of German language and references to German filmmakers who were known for some famous, what you might call, horror movies. "Der Tod" is the German word for "death." Tod's the first survivor to die. In real life, if I were him, I wouldn't like that name and would have been very concerned from the get-go after the plane exploded. The character of male teacher Murnau, who died on the plane, is almost certainly a reference to F. W. Murnau, the German director regarded as one of the most influential filmmakers for his work in the silent era. He famously directed "Nosferatu," a film about a vampire. Agent Schreck is a reference to the German actor Max Schreck who played the vampire, Count Orlok, in "Nosferatu." Interestingly, "Schreck" in German means "scare" or "fright." Agent Weine must be named after Robert Weine. He directed "The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari," another German horror movie. Also, the surnames of the other characters in the film had associations with real people involved in the past production of Hollywood horror/thriller films. For example, the female teacher was named Valerie Lewton, and there was a Hollywood producer famous for horror films name Val Lewton. A sort of tip of the hat to all of them, I suppose. Yes, everyone gets a kick out of the line "Are there any survivors?" Ah, NO! It blew up in the air. But, you know, I wouldn't put it past someone actually asking that question, especially a reporter. Oh, after the train crash, look at Carter's pants. Yeah, and Tod foreshadows his death by making a hanging motion on the plane when Alex agrees to change seats with the girls. I think the lady teacher's death was most over-the-top because she was married to the film's producer or someone like that. An inside joke, I guess. Oh, Alex has a nice a$$, too. Real nice. I think the mortician is an agent of Death. I mean, it looks like he's coming out of a cave. Something supernatural at work, there.
This franchise is indeed very popular. Lol. It's getting a 6th movie eventually. The second one instilled the biggest fear of... I won't say. But these movies are nuts and had me paranoid of just about everything for years. Keep watching! :)
I'm so excited! Dare I ask (because I hate to potentially spoil, I like to be surprised) but I'm curious on what other people guesses on the first scene incident will be? I kinda wanna guess cruise ship/Titanic situation ahh lol 👀😭
All the things that kill them are elements of water, wind, fire. I don’t know all the connections but it’s always one of these that are part of deaths plan
What kills them isn't the elements but the signs of what's coming come with them. Alex always sees something connected to fire, wind, water and then some kind of image aligned with how it'll happen. He saw the bus with Terry, the little flames with Ms. Lewton. When he saw the lightning outside of his house earlier in the film it was a premonition of his own "death" when he saves Clear late in the film.
I liked the first one growing up for Devon Sawa in it. The second one has Ali Larter Devon's girlfriend from the first. And I liked three the rollercoaster one. But it has new characters but they do talk about the characters from the first I think
