12:59 It was the 80's and lots of kids were latchkey kids so it was normal to see kids as little as Andy walking around a city by themselves. That's why Gen X built tough lol; especially places like Nyc, Detroit and Chicago. They had talking dolls since the 60's, and they were always creepy. You guys should watch the old Twilight Zone on your own with "Talking Tina" lol. I hope you guys watch all the Chucky movies, they're all good; Chuck is a menace and only gets more crazy. Great reaction, thanks!
Some facts to understand chucky lore. He’s powered by Voodoo, and he still has the strength of his human form. That’s why he’s able to smoke these adults, and Maggie flew back like she did. He basically hit her in the face with a hammer with the strength of a grown man. The grown actor of Andy he’s referring to in the show is the one who hunts down the chucky dolls. He is a gangster. And was the best final character. Cause Andy was really with the smoke for chucky. He had to save the adults more than they were saving him
And if Chucky “Is just a doll” then how is he strong enough to stab a knife through a car seat or as wooden door. This shows that he does have grown man strength.
Yall are definitely my favorite youtube couple to watch reactions with. I feel like Im hanging out with my younger brother and sister. I have a younger sister who is 14yrs younger than me and I'm always putting her on to old school movies and music. Im in my 40s and she is still in her 20s. I saw this in the theater when it first came out. The main actor Andy and I are about the same age. He is in the new reboot series. I feel old watching these reactions lol
Funny you 2 mentioned the doll craze. Back then, there was an actual doll called "My Buddy" (& later on a girl version, Kid Sister). They were all the rave back in those days (along with Cabbage Patch Kids etc). But when this movie came out, it actually caused the sales of their product to plummet, to the point where, if I recollect right, they even sued the studio behind Child's Play because of that.
I just had a silly thought about this... If you really think about, if Andy was delivered/born at any time after 6:30 am, then her guess of 5 was technically correct. For example, if he was born at noon then he wouldn't have turned 6 until noon 🤔🤗🤣🤪
yeah back then we had CTA tokens for us kids andy's age who would take the train or bus to or back home from school. that latchkey kid life was real back then, at first i was that kid on the bus terrified i was gonna miss my stop and be lost forever. having existential crisis at the age of 7 every day is some hardcore shit : D
Great reaction y'all!!!!! IMHO child's play is a classic but i think part 2 is better! They also took those animatronics to another level in the sequel!💯💯💯 peace from Brooklyn NY 🙏🏽
Chucky used to scare the shit out of me for years, it was a problem. Then, thanks to watching the movies and the Dead Meat Kill Counts, I not only have moved fully past the fear but actually like and enjoy the series. Child's Play 1 is for sure the most horror or scary of the series. Chucky doesn't fully get his jokey nature until 2 so while this one is good, I think of it more as a test run for the series. Great reaction and looking forward to yall getting into this series!
Definitely watch the other Chucky movies. Also, check out the movies Trick ‘r Treat(2007), The People Under the Stairs(1991), Pet Sematary(1989), and Candyman(1992).
Chucky haunted my life for the 1st decade of my life or so… I was terrified for a while and when I was 1st-4th grade there was a vent in my room above the door, and I always used to think he would crawl out of there and slit my throat in my sleep or something, id recommend reacting to the rest of the trilogy! Chucky is a horror character classic 🔥
This is the movie that started my nightmares in life. Chucky was the reason i was scared of toys for awhile. Fun facts for those that know or don’t know: • Chucky loses his right hand in each installment from the original trilogy. In the last act, where Chucky attacks Andy while he's alone at his home, you can see Chucky's hairline is starting to recede and look more human-like. • The story takes place in three days. •The Good Guys animated sequence that Andy watches on TV was produced by the animation company Ruby-Spears. • The scene when Andy is crying that Chucky will come and kill him, the filmmakers had to make Alex Vincent cry on camera by telling him "Alex, think of sad things. Think about your parents dying." • The only Chucky movie in the series to be distributed by MGM until the 2019 remake. Every other Chucky movie is distributed by Universal who have retained the rights to the previous sequels and the original versions of the characters and story. • The Chucky films have always been accused of inspiring violence in children. One case linked to the series was a gang in Manchester kidnapping and murdering a 16-year-old girl. While they tortured her, they forced her to listen to recordings of the gang leader repeating the catchphrase "I'm Chucky, wanna play?" Director Tom Holland has always defended the first film from these accusations, stating that viewers of horror movies could only be influenced by their content if they were unbalanced to begin with. • All of Brad Dourif's voiceover work for Chucky was recorded in advance so they could match up Chucky's mouth with the words. Because of this, Dourif rarely ever appeared on set during the "doll" scenes. Instead, recordings of his voice would be played back for Alex Vincent to go by. However, Dourif did act out the doll's movements during rehearsals, as seen in the making-of videos included with the DVD. • The film was released on the same date (November 9, 1988) as the opening scene, when Charles Lee Ray transfers his soul into the doll. • The toy shop used in the opening scene was actually a Chinese restaurant that closed down in Chicago, on the corner of Wabash and Van Buren. Chris Sarandon even says the name of the street corner when calling for backup. Prior to the release of Curse of Chucky (2013), this was the only film in the series to mention Eddie Caputo, Chucky's partner in crime. • John Lithgow, Gary Oldman and Andrew Divoff were rumored to be considered to play Charles Lee Ray and voice Chucky. • According to director Tom Holland, the shot of Maggie falling to her death was achieved by having a stunt woman do the main shot followed by a concrete filled dummy when she hits the car which had charges underneath the windows to shatter them. Maggie's death scene originally had her being electrocuted while taking a bath. Don Mancini altered her death to her getting pushed out of a window instead, as he felt it would be more shocking and cynical. Her original death was reused for Bride of Chucky (1998), with Tiffany getting electrocuted.
Yes the first two movies, and tv show Chucky star the same actor playing Andy Barclay. The only exception is the third movie in which another actor plays teenage version Andy Barclay, due to how fast the movie came out right after the second.
The 80s were wild. Giving kids an actual metal hammer with their toys and all them adults seeing Andy get on and ride the train by himself. No wonder kidnappers were putting up numbers that decade, fuck them kids was a way of life!
You have to watch ALL 7 MOVIES. The Chucky t.v. show takes place after the 7th movie. Word is there is another movie in the works also, and it probably will take place after the t.v. show.
Check this out! Back when I was a kid, they actually had dolls that looked almost like the Chucky doll called My Buddy and Kid Sister! Look them up! I had a black one. After seeing this movie I threw that doll in the closet!
True Story. I had a good guy doll when I was around andy's age growing up. A lot of kids at the time had one. After having him for a while, I've never seen his little ass again. I still to this day never knew what happened to him. I vaguely remember asking my mom what happened to it after trying to look for it one day, and she claimed she didn't know herself, which I found odd, because I couldn't understand how a doll that size can just disappear like that. She was adamant that she had no idea where the doll was. We looked all around the house for it and could never find it. It was weird because that doll always stayed in my closet. Needless to say, I didn't want another doll after that, lol.
Welcome to the Patreon FAMILY! We're so glad to have you there. Yes, we're definitely planning on diving into more Chucky films and we never thought about the TV show just because we started to watch it and never finished it. But we have a lot of content on the way! Stay tuned🙌🏽
Scoring the franchise on a scale of 10 (ie. #/10) *adjusted specifically to the franchise Child's Play: 7/10 - Great but mostly because it's the original, the one that started it all. Child's Play 2: 8/10 - Even better than this (the original). Many consider it their favorite. Child's Play 3: 6/10 - Not the best but better than people like to say - Probably bottom 2 of the franchise (maybe even last place), but that just speaks to how solid the franchise is Bride of Chucky: 9/10 The best & most beloved of the franchise & my personal favorite Seed of Chucky: 6/10 - Cult classic. Definitely the weirdest and generally considered the worst of the franchise, however, as time goes by people are growing to like, appreciate & understand it more (I used to not care for it, but now I really like & enjoy it) Curse of Chucky: 9/10 - Just great. The darkest (tonality) and most grounded (visually) of the franchise. Most cinematic. Fantastically directed, great story, great acting.
