Heater Box Reinstallation - Foxbody Restomod Part 80

- Painting my car door and installing the heater box assembly - It's been over a year since I rebuilt the heater box assembly in my foxbody Mustang but now that the firewall is completed, we can reinstall it. But first I have to make sure the blower motor works. And of course, yes there is a bit of work on the driver's side door thrown in as well, but this isn't a door window!
If you want to see the original heater box resto, here is:
Part A • Heater Box Restoration...
Part B • Heater Box Restoration...
I purchased the heater box on e-bay, plastic welded the smashed bits, separated the sides, replaced the evaporator core and the heater core, scrubbed it out, glued it back together, and re-assembled it.

The heater box looks great! I agree with the Duplicolor color paint cans. They really suck! Great idea using rivnuts instead of the speed nut clips. Awesome video!
👊😎✌️
Thank you Rick! Still a little bummed I can't find the speed clips, I thought I did a good job of keeping things packed in baggies. Oh well, this works. Thanks for watching!
Ive been horrible at spray painting all my life 😂 can’t offer real advice! Wow that interior is looking real good! Your parts washer set up is great I need something exactly like that! Heater motor came out great too!
Thank you my friend! The parts washer is the newer release from HF, it's pretty great with straight undiluted simple green. The pump is a little too strong but you can always mod a VFD on onto it. Highly recommend it!
Great job on the heater box Brother! Sorry the paint didn’t turn out the way you wanted….rattle cans are unpredictable…🙄But I think it turned out ok. Just my opinion. 💯👊🏾
Thanks bro! Yeah, the rustoleum in the middle came out alright, but the dupli-color was garbage. Really thin coverage and the can doesn't spray at slight angles off 90 degrees. But for some reason I can't wait to try the canned 2k clear out. Thanks again!
If it were me I would keep the fan motor as spare and replace with new while you have it out….
You are definitely not wrong, I seriously considered and wrestled with this. I've been replacing everything with new stuff as I've been going so far. At a certain point I've started to feel like I'm throwing the baby out with the bath water. I know the fan is cheap and replacing a bad one represents a ton of work, but I've started to lean towards keeping some of it's original charm. Hard to explain but I'm glad I used the blower fan from my original heater box in this replaced heater box, even if I have to replace it later.
Them Duplicolor cans are hot garbage! They drip like crazy. I used the same stuff (oxford white) on my 89 to re-do under the battery tray. I wasn't impressed either. Just an FYI on spraying over the top of Rustoleum. It does "gas" for a couple of days after, and will create a crinkle effect on clearcoat.
Ah, thanks for the heads up! I usually leave the rustoleum for at least a week before even touching it because it usually feels tacky for a while. That would make sense. This Dupli-color can only sprayed at like 90 degrees plus or minus 5 degrees and spit the whole time. Really frustrating! Thanks again!
@@SleazysGarage sounds like the exact same experience! I have a place by work that will put whatever color you want into a rattle can. It's a much better experience. And honestly, about the same in price.
