Somehow I'd forgotten about this one. What a fun game; the companion system really set it apart. I remember using the priest guy a lot, with the blue energy.
Finally the mystery has been solved!!! The name of this arcade game eluded me for years, but by some stroke of randomness it showed up in my suggested videos this morning. I remember watching a guy at the arcade play this game and beating it.
This game was a work of art. The fact you can only keep one teammate and one magic item with you is annoying. But the constant sense of progression with the tower floors and knowing how many there are to go was great.
I'm a big fan of these scrolling action/RPG hybrid fantasy games. If you liked the general notion of D&D but wasn't big on tossing dice and all that, you could play your favorite archetype, bash the crap out of slews of monsters, and scoop up tons of loot and XP. And you didn't have to spend hours in your basement to level-up your fighter into a mighty warlord.
i would always go on "errands' with my parents at age 5 or soand the 7/11 we always went to had this in it. my dad would read like the entire newspaper while loitering in there, and i'd play this game for what seemed like hours. it was the game that made me realize i was going to love fantasy and RPG's for the rest of my life
I have a very different story - I always used to see this game in the arcade and wanted to play but I could never convince my Dad to let me have any money for it because he simply didn't believe that I would have any idea what I was doing and it would be 40c wasted - which was a totally fair assumption, I sucked at games. "Why don't you go give Rygar a try instead, son?"
Goldenaxe did that for me. Strange enough, my dentist had it lol never seen this game in an arcade though. Only ever played it on snes. Its loads of fun on there too even though it runs like ass sometimes. Understandable why it runs so slow... it isnt too far off from the arcade version itself.
This game was before my time and I don't really watch play throughs, but I actually sat through this whole video and was really entertained. Looks like it was an awesome arcade game! I can only imagine how sweet the cabin art was 🤘
I spent years trying to remember a game I saw at the skating rink. I think this was it. I don't think I ever actually played, which made the character preview at the beginning all the more fascinating.
Downloaded this game for the PSN in a package that included Final Fight. First time I played it, I couldn't stop until I beat the game. This is an awesome arcade game! :D
Muy pero muy buen juego de aventuras espero que en el futuro saquen una segunda parte de este increíble juego con las mismas gráficas de su epoca. A pesar que es un juego ya muy viejo pero se merece su segunda parte.
And by the way, the best, safest and fastest way to end the game, is to destroy bats on the level 5's bridge until you'll get a ring. Then go back to the first chest of the level and summon the thief. Who comes when you open the chest and don't pick up the coin. Then you kill bats again and if you're lucky you can get a second ring to get one more thief on first hidden chest at next level (up the platform on the right of the entrance). Makes him lvl3. If lucky, you'll get a red heart at the priest to make him lvl4. What's already strong enough to kill what you can meet there. Lvl6 on next floor with the one imprisonned. And might be lvl8 at the end of same floor for you can find bats again and still a chest to catch him. If you didn't make the mistake to summon him on a previous chest. And then you run all the forty-three floors left that fast and that easy. As I remind.
This game was my 1st game in the SNES in 1994😢😢 i was remembering when. My Father 😢😢 hwas the gift for me from my father, now my fathjer not is with me...he's in the Heaven
I spent too much time celebrating my victory as the dialogue before the ending choice went by. I didn't know what to choose, so I chose yes. At that point, I didn't play that game for a long while just to go through 50 damn levels for the good ending.
Had this at my local Putt-Putt. Played it for many, many hours, even with a gimpy joystick that would get stuck at times. That Lizardman was awesome though, and after six or so dollars in quarters, I finally finished it. Good thing too, by the next week the Simpsons arcade game had replaced it. And of course, I "lost" lmao, some money on that one too. As my late grandmother used to say, some man is driving around in a cadillac I paid for with my quarters.
I could remember this when it was in a arcade room. The floors just go and go but I saw the final boss at the arcade room and I’ll just say this, it’s easier on console. It’s basically a sped up version of Castlevania with upbeat music, better weapons and companions. Great game
I bought this with paper route money a long time ago. It wasn’t just surprisingly good. It was great. Basically a beatumup with meaningful progression.
_MrGolibroda if you pick up the black orb, you are shown sat on big evil throne saying you took his place. _FeMaiden damage even when not hit is because health is time. As time decreases, bars go down. About map, chests are a detail but it shows where stands exit. For you have to find it, the shown or the hidden to get to next level. And that's why health as time may be a bit problematic : ) _1StlwY1 Original ARCADE game was not laggy. And about sound effects, you didn't have time to care cause you knew you could die soon. So you focused on the game. That was very cool to play, indeed. Willow, Ghosts'n'Goblins, Black Tiger, Street Fighter and II, Final Fight, Dungeons & Dragons, 1942, King of Dragons, Strider, Three Wonders, Tiger Road... and many games that made us expecting their next when we were down with the last. And compared to many other brands that were flooded arcade places, CAPCOM has been that high. _What I would like to know is the way to get screen shooting that nice when playing. Would you enlighten me please ?
28:43 clutch backstab magic dagger rescue. Wow this game's as long as I'd imagined it was when I was a kid, never seeing anyone even get to floor 20 in the cabinet.
The thief was extremely underrated. His starting range is short but his bombs are powerful. And the way his bombs arch at ligher lvls makes him extremely good at crowd control. The additional ability to detect hidden chests and booby traps were just icing on the cake. I agree with the other guy though; the ninja is shit. His atk is way too low and the player wasted a lot of time relying on him.
Here from Street Fighter 6 (open beta) To explain: there is an in-game lobby where you can run around, chat buy some clothing, play actual Street Fighter 6 online or find classic Capcom arcade games, which apparently change every certain period of time. This time there was this
Fuckin' A I've been looking for this game for years. I used to go to the roller rink in the early '90s and play the shit out of this one. Could never remember the name.
Surely this is the spiritual successor to Capcom's earlier Back Tiger? I has the dragon bosses, Keys, treasure chests with gold or bad guys, lots of Zenny, the appearing and disappearing enemy spell casting mages, the bastard bats! The first boss makes the same pillars of fire attacks found in Black Tigers chests..
I played this game quite a bit in the mall arcade room that was near my dad's ex-girlfriend's house never did beat it though! :( Thanks for uploading it!.
Ending (Break the orb) Drokmar: Gwoooh!! You destroyed the orb!? Are you truly Everyone's hero!? GWOOOOOOHHHH!!! And thus, the world has been freed from Dark forces of Drokmar and the black orb, and once again reunited with the light.
Just think about that hilarious typo: the Lizard Man was "brided" with a diamond ring...not "bribed", but *Brided* with a diamond ring...just like my ex-wife. =)
lol... never seen this game before, and i know tons of arcade games.. when i saw the initial text my first thought was street fight the game itself looks like a mix of golden axe and black tiger
This was everything an arcade game from the 90s should be.
My favorite game as a kid if I could find it.
Somehow I'd forgotten about this one. What a fun game; the companion system really set it apart. I remember using the priest guy a lot, with the blue energy.
For some reason I memorized this line since many years ago:
"I'm of the line of the Great Dragon. I'll put an end to your little adventure".
Finally the mystery has been solved!!! The name of this arcade game eluded me for years, but by some stroke of randomness it showed up in my suggested videos this morning. I remember watching a guy at the arcade play this game and beating it.

No matter where you were in the arcade, you knew where this game was. You could hear BOOYAAA! BOOYAAA! over everything else

you can play it on the retro handhelds that are a hot item these days.
A classic, and a personal favorite. This game must be remastered.
goddamn this game. I sacrificed many quarters to the arcade gods.

Never thought anyone could make it to the very end. Great job!
The beautiful colors and textures of 90s arcade - you can't see it without a good CRT monitor, felt like being inside a great fantasy book
This game is on SF6 in the battle hub sometimes in case anyone's looking to play it again.
I FUCKING LOVE this game. Once you have the Knight or Wizard at level 5 or higher, there's no need to swap partners.
Wizard is powerful but his magic missiles loading too long.
I have been looking for the title of this game for so long!! I finally found it, I used to love playing this game as a kid!
We can all agree that all mages were the best companions.
Muy pero muy buen juego de aventuras espero que en el futuro saquen una segunda parte de este increíble juego con las mismas gráficas de su epoca. A pesar que es un juego ya muy viejo pero se merece su segunda parte.
Poor bear. It probably was just wandering around looking for food. He didn't need to die.
It Was THE Blonde Barbarian Or HIM, Why, Did YOU Expected to be HIS Food, Instead Of HIS Opponent???!!!

Useless, idiot, but personnal fun is personnal and I can't discuss it. Anyway, was talking about a time we had to pay credits to play.
1:53 The gauntlet increases Power Power.
Not just mere Power, but POWER POWER.
It's so bad!
It needs the Infinity Gems. Or Infinity Stones. Not sure why they changed the name for the movies.
GET RID OF ME!
TAKE ME OUT!

i'm surprised nobody noticed this game's similarities with black tiger, must have been made by the same persons, no doubt.
Yeah Capcom made both. Black Tiger is a much better game though.
+David Medina w2wwssssss
Gylfi0
And hence King of Dragons.
Black Tiger to Shadow Over Mystara or even Red Earth is a pretty logical progression.
I like all of those games, each has its own merits.
Nice observation
I wish that a beat-em-up sequel was made from this game using the same engine that powered the excellent, yet completely underrated Strider 2013 game.
I think the hero is saying BOOYAH! every time
+AxisDimension I know right?! Hell He says it more than Cyborg or Ron Stoppable do. And that's their catchphrase!

BOOYA! BOOYA! BOOYA!
This is what a side scrolling beatemup should look like! Oh, forgot to mention the console ports were excellent as well!
Ah the classic arcade days of shaded enemies to indicate it’s a higher level after about 8 levels

Oh my god, I love this game so much a kid.
I would have liked to see a spiritual part 3 in this series. A lot people liked playing this game, and Black Dragon back then.
This is a classic game,I was played it in my childhood.
I applaud you for having played Magical Pop'n.
my fav was the priest lol. loved those orbs going after the enemies. GO ARIOL!
The original Dragons Dogma
I was about to comment the same thing !!! it has Chimeras and even Pawns !!!
King of dragons

SNES version is really good apart from the lack of 2 player.

I regret not having played this game.
What happens at the very end if you select YES to take the Black Orb?!
SPOILER:
You turn into Drokmar and the world is plunged into darkness as you assume his throne.
True power of destiny!
One of my teen childhood favourites!!!
I played this on the good old snes :-)
Trick is, once you get the diamond ring, not to pick up anything else, till you killed/atttacked a lizardman.
Then he will kneel down and join you.
I couldn't remember the name of this game I loved it as a kid I just realized what it was and now I'm going to mame the crap out of it.

Yes I can confirm this is the spiritual successor to Black Tiger. There is a documentary about these two games on TH-cam.
They used to have this at the Brushieland dentist's office I went to as a kid.
Thanks Chat GPT i was looking for name of my childhood game :D
my favorite companion was the priest (white robed guy). when he did that force field move you could stand inside it with him for protection
So strange how the only sound effect they changed on the snes was the BOOYA. Instead its more like booahhh... weird!

juts finished yesterday ..great game,..
That "hooya" sound effect sounds an awful lot like Jean Claude Van Damme.
los elementos de este juego me recuerdan al castlevania 3 de nes pero con graficas y llevado mas alla en el castlevania portrait of ruin
Muy buen juego , un clasicaso facil pero con cierta dificultad
This needs to be on Switch, I don't care how, Arcade Stadium or Arcade Archives.
And now it is on steam ❤️
