The reason why they don't wear their wedding rings is because, like we know, wedding rings are usually very valuable and expensive, unlike couple rings(they can be nice, but not like precious gems), so they are usually put away to prevent "wear and tear" or losing them. Like so others can see. (:
Thats interesting. In the states its the engagement ring that is (normally) very fancy and the wedding rings (normally) are more plain. Do they not have engagement rings in S.Korea?
That actually makes sense. I live in the states but if I ended up getting married, I'd be scared of losing/ruining my ring because of its value.
What if its pricey and they dont want people to chop off their fingers and nick the ring?
I broke up with a Korean guy I had been dating, and it wasn't until months later that I realized I ended our relationship on the 99th day. I felt so bad, I had no idea that the 100 days was a thing! :(
Since being in a relationship is this public, what does that mean for breakups? Is it seen as shameful or embarrassing to be newly single?

My Korean instructor actually explained the ring thing. She told us that when Korean women get married, it's typical for their husband to save and save and save to buy them a diamond ring. But because the ring is so expensive, they don't want to risk losing it, so they just leave it at home. It's a bit whacky but kind of makes sense.

I had hoped too, but now idk. After spending 20+ yrs as a single parent raising 3 sons & 1 daughter, I'm now a happy empty-nester! :) I'm using this time to finally get my writing career off the ground, plus I'm getting involved in a small part-time business with a good friend (which will entail a lot of sewing, on my part.) Btw my kids are all in their 20s now; during childhood they taught me a lot (by example) about relaxing, laughing, being silly, & enjoying life. I guess that's why I enjoy your videos so much. :) Thx so much for responding, & whether or not I get to Korea, know that I'm here in America (I truly live in the country, down in southeastern Missouri), sharing your adventures vicariously & laughing right along with you both. :) Wishing you well.

What I heard from Koreans or some Asians no wearing their wedding rings is that they are afraid that they will lose it or break it since wedding rings are so expensive.

so when some idols are noticed that they have matching things like clothes, doll, it's not nonesense at all.
I know in some areas PDA is a serious no no and in others PDA is a normal and sometimes excessive and awkward. From your experience, how is PDA viewed in Korea? Is it okay? Or is it Taboo? I understand they do the whole "couples clothing etc" but Im talking about holding hands. kissing, etc.

Babies under age 2 change so fast that you *have* to measure them by months, healthwise. A 16 month old is at a totally different developmental point than an 18 month old. (Plus, clothing sizes.)

But Valentine's Day in Korea has also become very commercial with all the stores selling the typical heart shaped stuff and toys as well as the "make you own chocolate" packages. I think the only thing they haven't done yet is the craze for buying "cards" for every occasion.
