I’ve just watched an old ‘play for today’ from 1979 on bbc4 starring Frankie Miller. He was a revelation, a complete natural, so I thought I’d check him out here. I had completely forgotten about this record.

Saw him performing this on St Patrick’s night 1991 at barrowlands as a guest of pogues. What a gig that was! With pogues playing the music and him singing with Shane was unbelievable

His latest album “Frankie Miller’s Double Take” is fabulous; all new songs he’d written prior to that tragic time and had made demo tapes of, to which his singing buddies added their recorded vocals. Edit: You should watch the documentary of what happened to him and how how he struggled to learn to walk and even talk a little again, and how Annette and his courage brought him back to life.
