It makes sense. The GT3 RS is a track car. If you took it to the track every other weekend, you'd never consider replacing it with the S/T, even a GT3 manual would be a better option. But for the road? Hands down, the S/T is the dream. I'd buy it with the comfy seats, no roll cage, and black-on-black or black with a fun exterior color and drive the hell out of it.

I'd take the S/T over the 3RS any day! These newer cars, for years now have no flex in the adhesive that holds the windscreen to the chassis/frame. It cracks much easier this way. Windscreen glass is actually fairly strong but all glass needs to be able to flex to prevent breakage.

Do the Porsche Experience. I did it a few weeks ago, you get to drive a 992 round their handling circuit for 90 minutes so you get a really good feel for the car.
In my opinion the 992 has very little 911 left in it. The C2S I drove felt soft, lacked feedback and had absolutely no sensation of being rear engined whatsoever. I would prefer my 997 any day, it was a real eye opener.

Nice work Matt. those Welsh roads and porkers looked amazing - of course the ST is going to be a rare car with values rising, the RS less so that confirms the RS for me. hope to get one, any colour 🙏

When Mat test-drove the S/T when it debuted, It was clear that his mind was turning. It's the daily driver version of the RS. If I lived near a track like Limerock or the Nurburgring, I'd take the GT3RS. But if 98% of your driving involves motorways, b-roads, S/T.

Ingenious to do a real lie detector test
I own an RS. Used to own a manual GT3. I don’t need a lie detector to say the manual GT3 was more fun on the road. The RS is more fun on the track (makes you feel like a better driver).
I have been regretting the RS purchase in some ways because it kinda sucks on public roads. But instead of trading it in for a more subdued 911, I ordered a Mazda Mx 5. Now I have both worlds - a super car for the track and a fun manual that won’t get me into trouble on the street.
Don’t sell your RS you may regret it

Gt3rs of 992 generation is pointless for anything except flex or track. ST will keep value very well, best middle ground is regular GT3 or touring. Best value porsche rn is 991.1 gts NA 2wd

My wife and I took our 2008 Cayenne Turbo all over Europe and YEP I did have 4 bottles of oil in the boot..ps avoid Italy got window broken by criminals but decided not to let it ruin our holiday yet 2 days later it happened again. The next day someone decided to poor acid all over the hood....poor Cayenne. Yet good Cayenne Turbo memories ❤

Got a very similar situation with my V6 F-type RWD manual transmission. Everyone says get a V8 because they've never ever driven a manual F-type. When you do, on roads shown here, you just won't care that it has 150hp less as it just doesn't matter.

Both incredibly epic cars! My friend just received his ST here in Honolulu After sitting in it, I found the seat position extremely uncomfortable. even though the carbon buckets look amazing I’d prefer the 18 way adjustable seats if it were my daily driver. If I planned on tracking it, I definitely take the RS!

This is why Im keeping my 992 GT3 with the 6 speed manual. Drives better than the S/T with the 4 wheel steering and has a Frunk unlike the GT3RS. On public roads its all about the manual... even though the PDK is quicker on the track.

gt3rs is an unbelievable track weapon... having never driven one but according to stuff I heard on TH-cam its only that. it is a magnificent piece of machinery if you are towing it from one track or another. but most of enjoyment you get from a car is more that track days. its being able to take it on a road trip, being able to actually drive it to a track day and not regretting it... that's why I believe the sweet spot on the 992 line up is not the 3rs, not the gt3 or even the turbo s... I believe it's the new gts.

Most people will be much better off with the ST. The GT3 RS is a track car and requires you being able to drive, it is likely why we so many being crashed. The RS looks much better, it's one of the most aggressive cars on the road. A larger percentage of the cars life will be held on the road.
To enjoy the Porsche GT3RS you have to be right on the limit and at a much higher speed, the ST you will be getting close to 100% of it's limitations which you can get to on a public road.
Really they are aimed at two different kind of drivers. The ST reminds me of the same qualities in a Mazda MX5, it's pure driving without any interference.
It comes down to where will you be using the car the most and what you want out of the car.
Gonna throw a curve ball n say i think it'd prefer a 911 Turbo s as it does all things n what is left over get a beater of a MX5.

I prefer the purpose build and designed GT3 RS. Instead of the ST I would prefer a manual air cooled 911 for road driving pleasure. I don’t like the odd mixture between nostalgic elements and new technology in the ST.

It is a stone chip. The tiny white dot along the crack is it. The glass is very ridged at the edge due to the glue being behind it and the smallest of impacts can do that.

  • @richboy900

The crack in the glass seems common in modern supercars. I believe it due to a combination of the firm ride and the tension of how the glass (which is possibly thinner on the RS) is fitted. Seen it on McLarens and didn't it happen on Yianni's Lamborghini?

I really don't think Porsche thought people would be buying a GT3 RS to go on a road trip.
But that is actually the point, both cars are far too good to just be spent going round and round a track when for me at any rate the better experience would be to enjoy them on great driving roads and go on a road trip.

They are both beautiful. One is more functional for everyday use, and that is a reality. The only thing wrong with the GT3, is that horrible wrap you put on it. The shiny paint on the other one, is great.
