This is so nostalgic for me!! My sister and I were always dumbfounded when Paul Bunyan knew our names!! He looked so much bigger when I was a kid😂. Great video! Thank you for sharing!!
Christ!!! Mille lacs lake/ area is truly gorgeous. I drove thru there and stopped and now I always go back when I vacation there. Thank u for showing my nostalgia, and getting my vacation itches in!!! So gorgeous. Great video
Wow! This was SO MUCH MORE than I thought it would be. Definitely adding it to our list. Thanks for taking us along! PS- You deserve way more subs. Your enthusiasm is contagious!
Fun Facts: Back in the day, up until the late '90's, Paul Bunyan Land used to be right in the middle of Downtown Brainerd. (Now it's a Kohl's!! 😝😡) The original park there had a small roller coaster, Ghost Mine (haunted house-style attraction), as well as a few other small rides. And the Paul statue itself looks very different. For one thing, he used to have a huge pack of Wrigley's Spearmint gum in his shirt pocket, which I always thought was really cool! Also his mouth moved more closely to what he was saying to you, And he was a lot bigger before. And that huge pumpkin used to be at an attraction (also near downtown) called Deerland Zoo- it had mostly birds & small animals like that, but the difference was they had all of these Fairy Tale characters with their props scattered around, like: life-sized Little Miss Muffet on her Tuffet, Jack & Jill (I think those may be the same figures Tommy Travels thought was Tom Sawyer & Becky; but I'm not sure), and the Peter Peter Pumpkin Eater- God, I miss that place! Does anyone else remember it?!
Cool! I knew that it had been in a different location but I didn't know that the statue was actually bigger before than what it is now. That's very interesting!
Thanks for remembering! I used to go to the old downtown Paul Bunyan Land as a kid and I was always surprised that Paul knew my name and where I was from. When I went back to Brainerd as an adult, I was shocked to see a Kohls store in its place. Haven’t been to the new one yet, so this video was a good introduction.
This place was replacement to original 1970's Paul Bunyan and in the 2000's i was in Mexico at a resort and when another guest entered the elevator I asked FLOOR and his voice said Penthouse. I said "Paul and sure enough the grandson who worked as the voice had retired to Mexico.
Great video- just one thing, though.... in the title, you spelled 'Brainerd' wrong. I've always said: "There's a Brain in that city, but there's also a nerd!!"

18 years? I went there in 1979.
Hi there, and thanks so much for watching. He meant 18 years at the current location.
Maybe you should have asked the peacock to 'strut his stuff'!!
