  • The Warden and Deep Dark are two new features coming Minecraft’s 1.19 Wild Update. But what if you could get them early? In this video I showcase the Warden alongside Sculk in a vast cave, recreating what the Deep Dark would’ve been if it was added in 1.18.

    A few questions:
    1: Is the sculk shrieker mechanic still the same since the last time I asked?
    2: Has the duration of the darkness effect from sculk shrieker still the same?
    3: Could you make the Warden’s arms extend less from its body when in its sniffing animation? Not only is it inaccurate from the animation shown at Minecraft Live, but it’s also hard to tell if it’s roaring or not when you see it in the middle of its sniffing animation.
    4: Is it just me, or did it get a speed boost before it roared?
    5: What exactly causes the Warden to roar and get more suspicious of a mob/player? Does it have to do with the amount of time between each vibration it receives?
    6: I know you said that you didn’t want to add anything that wasn’t confirmed to be added in the actual update, but could you at least give it an increased attack reach after it roar to prevent the “build four blocks up” strategy?

      1. Shriekers have been updated, so vibrations with higher frequencies will make the Warden emerge sooner (uses Sculk Sensor’s Frequencies)

      2. The duration is the same, but Wardens also give out constant darkness. It’ll only go away if you’re 48 blocks or further from the Warden!

      3. I’m not in charge of animations so I wouldn’t be able to do that.

      4. The Warden’s speed is based on its overall anger (the suspicion of all mobs around it combined,) and vibrations from Sculk Sensors significantly raise this value. That would be why the Warden was going faster.

      @@LunadeMusic The thing is, the darkness from sculk shrieker should be timed so that it only fades to black once.

      We don’t want to add anything that hasn’t been confirmed by Mojang yet, so we won’t be doing that.
