It's so weird to think that for decades his first appearance, officially, was in the cartoon segment of the Star Wars Holiday Special, yet here we see Lucas intended for him to actually be part of the narrative from the very beginning.

This isn’t the 1977 version. Jaba was a practical FX puppet. CG graphics like this didn’t exist yet
Jabba was first seen in ROJ. This scene didn't make it to the original release. And, even if it had, Jabba was an actor, an Irish guy, if memory serves , not a puppet or, as you say, a CGI effect.
Also, if I'm right, this isn't even the original CGI version. Lucas went bac YET AGAIN to 'improve' Jabba.

Hi GEN X here! ...This was digitally edited for the relauch of the re mastered edition alot of different scenes were added! Or re edited! Alot of good memories during the 70s and we were able to tell the difference between male and famale!
17 movies & tv films later & yet A New Hope is still the best Star Wars film.

Empire Strikes Back is generally considered the best but A New Hope is my personal favorite.
Agreed. Empire has great scenes, but it's also where the plot gets convoluted.

“Door’s locked. Move on to the next one.” Even as a five year old back in ‘77 I thought, “What?!?!? Why don’t they bust the door down??”
I mean lets be honest. If they had to bust down every locked door in Mos Eisley they'd probably be there all day lol
This is not from 1977, this scene was shown for the first time in the 1997 version, and actually, this scene is from the 2004 version.

A New Hope was the beginning of a cultural movement. The movie promoted its own real life religious groups of Jedi and Sith and it brought so many people together over their imaginations.

I don't mind it myself. Only thing I wish they'd done in the Special Edition is change the subtitles for Greedo's dialogue back to what it was meant to be before they cut this Jabba scene from the original release. When they cut this scene, some of Jabba's dialogue was given to Greedo, replacing what he was originally gonna say. Plus Han now says "Even I get boarded sometimes. Do you think I had a choice?" in both scenes.

This scene was NOT in the original 1977 theatrical release.
In the original Jabba was human, Lucas didn't feel happy about it but didn't have the budget or the CGI to do any other. In the revised version for the 25th anniversary the CGI update was created and edited in to better fit with Lucas' original vision of the character. Han stepping on Jabbas tail served two purposes, 1) to show Hans disrespect for power, 2) to ensure the edited flowed seemlessly into the original.
Amazing what you learn by watching the extras on DVD sets!
I get it and can understand that part but based on Jabbas personality in Return of the Jedi this kind of disrespect he wouldn’t be very tolerant of 🤷♂️
Jabba was never supposed to be a human. They just had a human actor stand-in for him to give Harrison Ford somebody to work off of until they got the special effects finished. His actor wore a furry outfit because they originally planned for Jabba to be a furry humanoid like Chewbacca. The funny thing is that the radio drama actually retconned the fur-clad human stand-in into a separate character named Heater.
The scene with Jabba confronting Solo was not in the original. I heard that Lucas wanted it in the original but couldn't because the technology in 1977 wasn't good enough. It was senseless to have it anyway for two reasons. First would Jabba be so stupid to think Solo was in his ship just because it was parked there? He was only likely to be in it if he just arrived or was about to leave (or perhaps he needed to perform some maintenance). Second he would have sent one of his henchmen after Solo instead of confronting Solo himself.
Got me how Han stomped on Jaba.

That's because it's a scene added by George Lucas for a special set of 3 VCR tapes.

Lucas ruined his story by doing the special editions by readding scenes that didn't make sense, particularly with Han stepping on Jabba's tail. If Lucas wanted this scene in the movie that bad, why not just change the name and let 'Jabba' be the right hand man to "______ the Hutt". That way, Jabba could remain a human and Han could easily walk around him without any problems. Of course, there 'is' a fan who recreated this scene and added a droid projecting a holographic image of Jabba, and as Han walks around Jabba, he bumps into the droid, and the holographic image flickers. I mean, Han Solo wasn't that special. He was just another smuggler to Jabba. So the idea of having him come down to Docking Bay 94 'personally' doesn't make sense, especially when he turns right around and puts a big bounty on Han's head.
You have real props ie actors in the same shot! with CGI! It doesn't work.
Han has bad grammar and he's a little meaner in part 1. He says "ain't", and "don't" where he should be saying "doesn't"; and makes other grammatical errors; effecting an uneducated slang; in part 1. And he calls Ben a "fossil". In part 2 and 3 he gets nicer and his grammar improves.
Bad idea including this scene with a CGI Jabba. It's a pointless scene and there's a reason why it was originally on the cutting room floor. It's because it served no purpose to the story. It was better just hearing about this mysterious figure named Jabba in Star Wars and The Empire Strikes Back and then revealing him in Return of the Jedi. The CGI looks bad here. Can't beat the original theatrical version from '77.
the additions were a mistake. they cheapen the movie, and the look bad to boot.
