This video was posted in 2016. It's now 2021 and here I am! I have a 2007 LMM Duramax. Use to work as an auto mechanic fulltime from 1980 to 1993. Have changed 1000's of belts both older V and newer serpentines, so it's not like I had no idea how to do it. Needed to change the serp belt on my Duramax so I watched your video as a simple how to guide. Great explanation and video! Worked it as you explained, and had no problems. Not gonna lie, it was tight getting in to some spots to route the belt, but that was to be expected without removing the fan shrouds. Wish they had youtube back in my days of twisting wrenches! Took about 45 minutes to remove and replace the belt. Thank you, I appreciate you taking the time to post this. For anyone looking up how to change your serp belt on your older Duramax, I highly suggest you view this video. He is spot on with this how to!
Excellent! Thanks broke down out of town and this video was perfect. Chowed the bearing on one of the belts idlers that broke the belt. Replace the idler and we were back in business.
I've done the same on my LBZ without removing anything. But I have a shitty Ol' K&N CAI if I had the stocker I'd put it back in though. Don't know who wouldn't do it this way. Good job and good on ya for posting brother.
Only thing I will add is use the alternator pulley for the last loop. When trying to use the tension pulley as the last loop flexing the belt around the bolts cause problems with the idler pulley falling back off
I replaced the belt due to the marks on the tensioner were indicating the tensioner is at it’s most extended mark. The new belt indicates the same thing at the most extended mark. What do you recommend I check? Thank You
@@ReiJarrod My belt just ripped itself off as I was driving, because the bearing in the idler pulley seized up. Lost power steering, power brakes, alternator, cooling... Was not fun trying to stop that thing with no power brakes. The idler bearings just don't last very long. Mine only had 150K on it, the belt was still fine. And you can, if you plan ahead, just change the $5 bearing instead of the $25 pulley.

Hey, no problem. Just sharing stuff that worked for me.

Right on, what a great video. Everyone says you need to remove the fan assembly and you just proved you don't need to.
Thank you....
Sorry about the shaky video. I am not that great at videography. :)
Thank you for this. It took me longer to remove the air box and that turbo intake than it did to change the belt.
James K glad it helped someone

Right on Jared! Thanks headed to the parts store right now for the belt and going to do the same thing now! Thanks again
No problem. I should have made a better video. Less shaky and movement. Oh well not a pro I guess. :)
Damn 200+ miles an hour. When mine started wrapping around back to 0 km/hr I let off figured I scared my buddy enough
Thanks for sharing.

Changed belt and PS pump at 108k. 10k miles later belt snapped. Tension and or pully seized up.
I replaced the belt due to the marks on the tensioner were indicating the tensioner is at it’s most extended mark. The new belt indicates the same thing at the most extended mark. What do you recommend I check? Thank You
10-4 all you lbz guys. Takes about an hour.
Great
When ever you replace your serpentine belt you should also change your tensioner pulley at the same time
Never have on any vehicle I ever serviced or owned and to date, not a single issue.
