Pulley’s did not look or feel worn.
It is a job to replace the belt.

Check your pulleys for proper alignment; and no pulleys are damaged. Make sure the belt is properly installed on ALL pulleys.
Check your belt tensioner.Good Luck

Curious to see if u have any issues with slipping . I bought a green belt, “gator back” and it was slipping the first time I had to climb a mountain and the fan kicked in, I thought maybe I had got a little oil on it so I cleaned it and it did the same thing. Replaced tensioner pulley still swirled like a pig on a hard pull. Went to Napa grabbed the heavy duty black belt. It was 1/4 in shorter and I have had no issues since. Talked to another driver just last week that had same issue. Not saying you will I’m just curious. We both have Cummins engines. I don’t think that’s the problem I just think when these belts are under a heavy load that don’t stick. I personally think it’s the green shit that’s on it. Idk just letting you know in case u have same issue. Like I said it only squealed under heavy load on engine and fan kicked in any other time it didn’t slip.
Thank you, I'll watch for it. Leaving mesa, az now and it did ok on the way out but i had a really light trailer but I'll definitely watch and listen for it. Thanks for the heads up
So did you really need to remove the fender liner to change it? It looks to me like I could remove the air box and tube and get it from the top on mine. 2018 Sierra 2500 HD Denali, but I’m only at 65k miles. Me engine bay is the same as yours.
I might not have had to but I've done it so many times it just seemed like the thing to do. It definitely made it easier to get the belt on tensioner pulley
Did you need to remove the fan?
I had to have another look at this- I used the same tensioner tool as you did from NAPA and found that I couldn't fully relax the tensioner after my belt was loose. Maybe I had a different angle; loosening the belt was OK, but when trying to relax the tensioner fully to remove the tool, the tool was resting up against one of my A/C coolant lines (with tension still present), which was about where one of the fan shroud supports was. As it turned out, I was replacing my fuel rail fuel pressure sensor, so I had to remove the throttle body and alternator. This also meant the cold side intercooler pipe had to come out too which gave me plenty of room to fully relax the tensioner. Your engine setup looks a lot like my '17 does- did you have any issues with removing the tensioner tool with the tensioner fully relaxed? Just curious.
I was worried about that. It was close but completley relaxed so i could get the tool out of the way.
