Did you ever find out the dimensions? Cause I'm over here just comparing/eyeballing it Lol. I fucking hate tutorials that speed past important details.
For all those who were search ing dimensions you can take any but bigger than 20inch. Steps uploaded to Arduino are same and take care heat bed placement settings. The base should be minimum 20×20inch (From base I meant to say the area where heat bed is fixed.) And height should be roughly 25inch(min) . Acrylic sheet mount should be taken in respect of stepper motors. That's all rest you can check. In video. He night not wanted to reveal the lengths or he knew we can take any.
the aluminium channel frame that u cut whats dimensions did u take, Is it okey if the dimensions are taken randomly, by changing the dimensions will it affect the g-codes, cause the center axis of extruding end changes.
what are the measurements for the 7 channels you cut and where to drill for the motors and rods and how long are the pieces you cut at 4:20 and where to drill?

Hi, I tried this 3D printer for 2 months, and finally completed all. If you still want to know the exact dimensions and scales of all, th-cam.com/video/ZugkZRZ0j2k/w-d-xo.html it has everything.
Is there a specific reason to use the arduino mega with ch450? I used a arduino mega with 16u2 chip with ramps 1.4 and my arduino board doesn't work anymore i think it got burnt🤔 why is that? If you know pls let me know😃
Boris Z axis requires lift on both sides, otherwhise the weigth of the printing head would pull the head lower when the head move to the far end. Lifting on both sides, shares the load and will also keep the X axis aligned. Motors might share the same signal so they move in perfect sync.
If you have a stronger frame this can be done with one motor. But print carriage moves so the weight is moved around. So if you only have one Z-axis it will need to support the entire weight, and things might bend, so you would need a stronger structure. If stuff bends, it can get stuck, so you can't have a guide rod on the other side. So it's simpler to put two motors to keep all levelled and share the load. Another solution is tho have belts drive both screws at the same time.
Should have gone for lead screw for the cost difference else welcome to the club. edit: although now seeing the full video and your budget - you did well to scratch build for $150 !
Brilliant work! Can see you use the full length of the rods, so can work out the dimensions of the base. Could guess the remaining dims but is there any chance of getting a few measurements or a diagram for the rest?
I would like to find out if your compatriot or these engines fit that printer would work what you did on the video you did because I already have atmege and ramps1,4 and electronics and parts I will be grateful for a quick response
Height bro I question. How did it work if you want to print large objects? Do it need bigger mother board, component parts and motor to print bigger objects or can you use same printer to print bigger objects as well as small objects? Can I print larger objects with same mother board and same motor you are using, if I extend the print area and the screw metal rod to provide the nozzle longer area or distance to travel. Can it print larger objects this way?
So it cost roughly $350-$400? That doesn't seem to bad, and it looks like a nice project. Would you say the print quality is good? Thanks in advance if you reply!
Pls upload the next video soon ...since I am planning on working with this project cause so far this is the only videos where there is a detailed instruction in making the 3D printer
using math its about 14 inches long assuming his hand is 4 inches which is avg for men. thats from end to end, i didnt bother measuring middle, so a 400mm rod and 2 500mm rods threaded should be good.
saying that this means the build is 12x12 inside, and the outside aluminium being 1x1x14 x2 and 2 pieces being 1x1x12 or so. Hope this helps, my dimensions make the most sense for this build tbh, and is the most logical build dimensions, thought mine aren't exact.

Some Advice: First of all, instead of just zip tying to the bearings, use actual bearing blocks to screw onto, it is the same, but it is more secure and might yield better results on print quality. Second of all, Arduino is not the best to use for this and I would use an actual motherboard, even an anet a8 motherboard, but I get that it is based on a budget. Last of all, based on what I see, he is making a Prusa Mendel i3 clone. If you are going to print, make sure that on the stl cutting software, Cura is a great software to use, that you set the machine to Prusa Mendel i3. It will most likely use gcode files to print and if you use the wrong machine it could give you the wrong file and not only that, but it could also throw off your print bed dimensions. Just for reference ;) EDIT: pls add dimensions, if anybody knows precise dimensions pls reply

Why did you add 2 stepper motors on one specific axis and not one like the other two axisses?
Btw awesome build!
Boris Z axis requires lift on both sides, otherwhise the weigth of the printing head would pull the head lower when the head move to the far end. Lifting on both sides, shares the load and will also keep the X axis aligned. Motors might share the same signal so they move in perfect sync.
