- The show opener with Bijou Burlesque, which appears to be a real burlesque show, done in the same style burlesque shows might have been done long ago. Everything from the costumes to the jokes are done in a vaudeville style. Six girls sing a quick song to introduce Benny, who steps out and sings a song about "Adam and Eve". Benny introduces a group of beautiful girls who step out and sing a song completely out of tune. The first girl to step on the pedestal is Sue Upton, followed by Anna Dawson, Lorraine Doyle and then an unknown girl in a Carmen Miranda style costume steps up. This bit ends with Benny singing about "Adam and Eve" once again.

The modern comedies don’t even come close to the Benny Hill shows. Old is gold… I really miss these brilliant comedies…

There is no television comedian I miss more than Benny Hill and if the term “comic genius” can be applied to anybody it was, surely, Benny. Towards the end of his career there more and more complaints from people about his being “sexist”. For me it was total bollocks because he was never less than utterly hilarious and all those gorgeous ladies on his show just made it more enjoyable.
Iv miss benny so much. It hurts that those days are gone forever now. I'm so glad I lived in his era.

As a result of the actions of the feminist brigade in the last couple of years of his life he was taken off mainstream television completely. Even today he still seems to be regard as “politically incorrect” and TV channels like UK Gold, which show mainly old comedy shows, won’t touch Benny Hill with a barge pole. There is now one channel called That’s TV (183 on my system) which is showing some old Benny Hill TV shows. It also showing early B&W episodes of Warren Mitchell in “Till Death Us Do Part”. Now that TV comedy definitely was racist and is totally politically incorrect today!. It also shows episodes of “Kenny Everett On TV” and some of his stuff was risqué to say the least. Maybe this channel should call itself “That’s Dodgy TV” !!!.
If anything, behind the scenes, it was his final producer/director, Dennis Kirkland, who was the true sexist. He even made no apologies for it. And in so doing, ended up getting the Hill show in a heap o' trouble. Notice in most reviews in the decades before Kirkland took over the reins, no snide remarks about "chasing girls" and all that.

How this guys show got cancelled I never know. One of the funnest men who ever hit the stage.

A question I have always asked myself: some sketches were performed on stage in public and the laughs were recorded live, but sometimes even with recorded sketches the laughter seemed very natural as if a room reacted to the images (like in the cinema)?
Parts of the show were done on film. Parts were live in front of an audience.

I made it a point to Watch Benny Hill JUST so I can see all the lovely Girls and Ladies Wearing Beautiful Feminine Lingerie, most of which I'd Really Like To Wear Myself.
Those lingerie are so hard to find. Modern night wear today are boring and unfeminine.
And that, to many, was the problem there. My reasons for taking to Benny Hill were WAAAAAAAY different. His blooper sketches, his film and TV parodies, his impersonations, stuff like "The Sound of Frankenstein." When the earliest Angels routines showed up, I wondered what it all had to do with comedy, or making people laugh. Moreover, I thought the juxtaposition between the T&A and the cast members' reactions a clunky approximation of the formula of a string of Tex Avery cartoons, starting with "Red Hot Riding Hood" (1943) and ending with "Little Rural Riding Hood" (1949).
