The best comedy series ever made, with the most poignant moment of any British TV series! ❤️👍
But now we have even greater comedy. The BBC.
The best ever. Except for Father Ted.
A moment I hope we'll all be remembering during the news reports of the current conflicts.
@@carusmike Not true. The BBC is woke now... so the comedy is transparent.
I agree, Ian! The best - by far.
It's Hugh. It's Hugh bloody Laurie!😂
TOTAL TURNIP! LEAVE THE ROOM!
😠🤣🤣🤣
@@JackpotButtonLewis 🤣🤣🤣
@@JackpotButtonLewis Fairly sure the word is "turd!"
"I'm never working with that man again." 🤣
Rip speckled Jim 🕊️
Delicious though
@@ragingpagan8847 & plump breasted
Blows my mind that Stephen Fry was only 27 here. Fantastic performance.
32?
He was, without doubt, the star of this series!
Yes he was 32
More likely 31, since his birthday's in August and the first episode aired in September.
@@garrybaldy327 Later 20s or early 30s was a reasonably common age for a colonel at the time for the British Army/BEF. So, spot on for casting.
Makes you wonder how long it actually took to record an episode 😆
With a studio audience they would have to get most of it done in under 3-4 hours, surely?
2 hours according to the new Blu-Ray commentaries
They can get it done pretty quick, bloopers are pretty rare, on the whole scenes are recorded pretty quick, I’d say an episode is around half a day, but then you’d have editing, reshoots if necessary etc
I knew someone who worked at the BBC TV Centre (where this was filmed) as an audience usher. He said shows would start to record about 7-7.30 and it had to be over by 10pm otherwise all staff (not the actors I'm guessing) would have to be paid overtime!
Yes, I believe a lot of it goes on!
I have never seen this extended take of the outtakes before. Stephen Fry was certainly getting some help trying to get his lines right. I always laugh at how he is laughing and when Hugh Laurie puts him off 😆.
When I think of House, I don't think of Hugh Laurie at all, but there it is.
@@mtjoy747 Mr Laurie makes House impressive.
Blackadder Goes Forth was THE best comedy ever made. I must have watched every episode a hundred times, yet it never fails to make me laugh and Fry's performance is beyond genius.
Tim McInnerny was outstanding in all the Blackadder series he was in.
???? He was in every series of Blackadder!!
Underrated.
He was good at playing a right bastard in some dramas too.
I love how tightly wound he is in this series. Just a ball of neuroses. He's great in all of them, of course.
@@davidhanahoe8752 played the scarlet pimpernel in the one series he wasn't a regular................
'They're all pulling faces at me and everything! Can't concentrate!'
So relatable that Mr Stephen Fry!
LOL!
😃😂🤣🤣🤣
Baldric's "deny everything" testimony must have been flawless, as he did not appear in the outtakes.
NO!
Of course everything he did was spiffing
Boom Boom Boom Boom
Boom Boom Boom
@@mickd6942 Let me guess: "Boom, boom, boom?"
The funniest season of one of the funniest shows ever made.
One of my favourite episodes. Gen. Melchet (sp) was an absolutely brilliant character
stephen fry stole the scene in most episodes
He apparently threw in the strange Baaaah when he laughed as a nod to Lord Melchet from Blackadder the 2nd having an implied relationship with a sheep. General Melchet is the descendent of that union.
Classic humour and also the most extraordinary awesome ending to this series. Never was the futility of war better shown
this was comedy not some of the rubbish on tv now
The greatest character ever created for comedy has to be Captain Kevin Darling. Morning Darling… 🤣🤣🤣
'What is the matter with you Darling?'😄
I heard the name Darling for the character came a bit by accident and stuck.
I like the bit in the last episode that humanises Darling. Talking about going home, marrying Doris, playing cricket. It really showed he was just another poor bastard caught up in this insane shitstorm :(
Melchett - "Honestly Darling, you really are the most graceless, dimwitted bumpkin I ever met"
Darling - "Oh I wouldn't say that to her Sir"
Melchett - "ohhh!!!!."
🤣
The greatest scene of television ever filmed.
Blackadder - from the days when the BBC made funny comedy programmes. An art totally lost, in the carefree days before people worried about offending someone with every sentence.
Did you enjoy it Charles? It seems to have upset you...
@@matthewread2509 the complete opposite Blackadder was fantastic. I watch very little BBC comedy these days as it's not funny.
Not lost at all, it's just that when you got to 60 you lost your sense of humour and started dedicating your life to whining and complaining about how "it's not like in the good old days" 🥱
In my thirties and still enjoy british comedy from the 80s-90s. Today's comedic productions are unwatchable
James O'Brien fans probably wouldn't get the Blackadder humour
Still, the best British comedy ever made. The cast is superb and Fry is incredible. This 4th series was amazing. I've watched every episode 20 times and it's still hilarious :)
And final ending.....
The greatest comedy in all of history. Pure genius every single second.
The writing was utterly sublime.
I just watched the last one again today having just seen All Quiet On The Western Front. How two so different approaches to the same awful moment can be both so horrifically moving and yet make you feel so desperately sad is something to leave you in awe. The writing in Blackadder Goes Forth and its production are still immeasurably incredible.
I got my words wrong. It's sublime
Seeing General Melchett but hearing Stephen Fry is very surreal!
Fantastic to see this, I’m a big fan of all the blackadder series.
The audience, I’m so jealous of you but it must of been an amazing experience.
Ahh, Tally-ho, Yippy Dap & Zing Zang Spillip
Boom boom boom boom.
@@darrenrobinson9041 Boom boom boom??..... spooky
The quote has a translate to English option for the likes of Baldrick... I can't answer the General I don't know what he means!
The Golden Age of the BBC, that was.
AND WILL NEVER BE AGAIN
Before the bbc Went weird
I demand they show footage of the faces they were pulling to make Stephen crack especially Hugh Laurie
Blackadder and Faulty Towers are my top 2
Rising Damp is up there too
I'm 40 years old now and I can't believe I'm 8-9 years older than Stephen Fry was in this
He said in a documentary about the Blackadder series that the hardest part was to play a general well over 50 when he himself was only in his early 30's. He used a lot of 'old man noises' like coughing, mumbling, and groaning to appear much older.
I'm 43. I was at junior school when this first aired. Tempus Fugit..
That is how time works...
I'm 97 and I can't believe last year I was 65
@@jgg75Yeah... I don't think they were commenting on how time works...
It's okay to be snarky, but at least don't look so stupid doing it.
I see what the outtake was about. The assistance lady absolutely goofed it: she combed Fry’s hair when she was supposed to comb his magnificent moustache. But we all make mistakes, no hard feelings on her 😊
Sorry...but who are you?..
Your firing squad, sir..
Hugh Laurie, what a Cad!
Bloody brilliant ❤😂😂😂
Back when it was worth turning the tv on !Blackadder never fails to give laughs..
Love this. How great to see Rowan, Hugh and Stephen so uncut 😃
This is great! Could you guys post some outtakes for allo allo?
Of course it was Hugh 😜
It had to be Hugh
It had to be Hugh
We wandered 'round
And finally found
The somebody who
Could it be true?
We laugh til we're blue
And even be glad
Never be sad
Thinking of Hugh!
@@R.J._LewisThanks for the laugh! 😅
For me this series was the best
I'd luv to have seen what Laurie was doing to crack him up. "I'll never work with that man again". Hilarious.
Oh to be a fly on that wall! I think I would fall off from laughing so much! ❤❤❤❤
It's astonishing looking at this now and how brilliant Stephen Fry is and realising he's also an insanely intelligent
I think the BBC types have a cunning plan to entice viewers to keep coming back to their channel, by only releasing short outtake videos.
Atlas for rowan atkinson he’s 69 this year and he’s a married man twice he’s got the young adult son Ben and daughter lily from his first marriage and a 7 year younger daughter Isla from his second marriage
Brilliant!! Never seen it in full before
At least Stephen Fry did not make the grave error of ignoring... 'the poo-poo'...
I think Stephen could play Joseph Stalin and make people laugh too.
the first time I saw that court room, and he told Baldric to "deny everything" I was laughing so hard I couldnt breath
What I would give to have seen those faces Hugh was making at Stephen 😂
Atkinson doesn't seem to find it at all funny 😖
Neither do I Capt Darling 😂
he is staying in character. ffs
Pure Brilliance
Brilliant acting from the lot ov them 😂😂😂😂👍👍👍
Every series improved. Each actpr improved. They all deserve an overacting award for comedy. The best comedy show. I couldnt pick the best but high laurie comes close but i cant watch time team and not hear baldrick speak of a brilliant and cunning plan
I’ve done a fair bit of “extra” work and although these are funny to watch back they can become contagious and turn into very long and expensive days. You can see the director getting more pissed off as the day goes on.
Best season of BA. Genius.
I did hear Rowan Atkinson was difficult to work on set with. Based upon this clip, I suspect he takes himself too seriously..
nonsense. he was staying in character.
Gold right here
You know, Darling…
There you are, Darling!
Would watch and record on a Thursday night, then watch again before hitting the town on a Friday and Saturday night
Reminds me of my movie town.
“You absolute rotters!”
My favourite comedy of all time. Part ll and Part lV were the best.
Atkinson looks rather annoyed here. Or is it just me?
He could be somewhat critical when someone stuffed up their lines.
Total admiration for all these guys! Must have been a total hoot!
That it be, that it be! 😄
Don't think the crew would share the same view as they tried to herd these cats .. :-)
@@flym0At least they were utterly hilarious cats to be herding lol
@@ryleighs9575 LOL
Stephen Fry was bloody outstanding in this series.
even when he was only in 1 episode in The Prince Regent as Wellington he stole every scene.........
Blackadder the 2nd pips goes forth for me, but series 2, 3 and 4 were all fantastic. Blackadder and Only Fools best 2 comedies ever produced! And I just love Stephen Fry!!
Does Rowan Atkinson Ever Smile?
This is brilliant.
When BBC could make great programs all gone now how they have sank into the abyss
Id love to have been a fly on the wall when they came up with Flashhearts line of "any bird who wants to chain herself to my railings and suffer a jet movement gets my vote!".
How pissed off does Rowan look? 😂 He hated when people messed up.....must've been on a promise later 😅😉
Still absolutely brilliant!
Pure comedy Mr. Bean. Real name super intelligent Rowan Atkinson and intelligent Hugh Laurie, Steven Fry and Tony Robinson.
How do the extras keep it together??
Dr. House sitting next to Mr. Bean.
Rowan didn't seem to be amused ...
Probably trying to stay in character.
@@edmundblackaddercoc8522yes agreed. He's being sentenced to death by firing squad after all
Would have been nice to have more than just one scene.
Wish these guys would get back together for one last hurrah!
Ace
Brilliant 😂😂😂
great to watch these
A pity they never made a series set in the future that would have been awesome
Cappuccino anyone 😂😂😂
He killed his specked Jim.
His lovely fluffy plumpy speckled jim
They definitely did not eat that delicious plump breasted pigeon.
deliberately, callously and with beastliness of forethought
Steven fry class act
I remember when out takes were funny.
so funny such talent
4:35 he seems angry
Just shows how much work goes into these productions
Poor Dawn being shot instead of Blackadder.
They definitely did not eat that delicious, plump breasted carrier pigeon.
Stephen fry has since gone on to become a proud gay husband because he’s married to Elliot spencer for 9 years and he’s now 67 years old
And?
Proud gay???
Mate love black adder 😂😂
whats not to love?
have you got any of that brown stuff you sprinkle on the top...
What was Trevor Brooking doing on the bench
The judge is Josef Stalin!
What's the gavel for is he having an auction?
Brilliant
Making people laugh is a very serious business
Very interesting thanks.
Must have been fun working on this
$Heehhheeehhe"😂
Did they use canned laughter on the outtakes??
No, these were actually filmed in front of a live studio audience surprisingly!
