It is horrible but tbh my cat ate my bird while I was away at school one day. He had green feathers all over his head and mouth when I got home but I figured it wasn’t the cats fault. Damn bird was a genius at getting out of his cage :/
If my dog ever bit my child, past mouthing in puppy hood, my family would never see the dog again. That dog would be straight to a shelter. I love dogs and I don't have any kids but there is no comparison. My child would be more important than my dog in all cases.
@Chiara Dal Col That's the point Jesse was making. Anyone smart who knows anything about dogs isn't surprised that a dog from a breed famous for their intelligence is actually quite smart.
@Chiara Dal Col and if this family was smart they could have avoided that gerbil getting attacked I'm sure before he got that gerbil there were many months or years of him barking and trying to get it it's in her bedroom and if they were smart they would put it out of his reach or close that door every time they come out or tell him not to go in there and if he wants to play with the mop why cant they play with him

Yeah like she knows how to take care of a gerbil they’re social so you meed two or more and they need a lot of bedding (at least 8in) and cannot be housed in plastic cages they’re insane plastic chewers so the appropriate enclosure is a 30gal or larger tank
With rabbits, pens are much more spacious. You can have both a large cage and a play yard set up in front of it to ensure extra exercise, or if living situation allows it, free-roam after bunny-proofing areas you don't want them to get into.
@tina c well actually gerbils and Hamster cage need a little space but for a bunny or guinea pigs need a lot more room to run and play like a hutch. I have 2 guinea pigs, I used to have gerbils, hamsters in small cages and they lived a happy life in a small cage with lots of tunnels, food, water, house and their ball to run in it
@@catherinecullinan7159 absolutely wrong wild hamsters run many miles each night . It makes no sense to have a pet and not offer it the biggest place u can. They arent objects
They don't do research - they just pick a breed because it looks cute- and Jackies are cute- there is a reason why there is so many dalmations in the shelters. People don't do research, see them on tv - oh they look cute, let's get it and then bam! Dog bites because it's not trained properly. It's funny bc if dad were to have some manmade inconvenience happen to him, you know what would happen. I'm talking to my fellow ethnic brethren out there.
Personally, I find the growling and then biting the little girl very concerning. Mine has been raised primarily around adults and I'm always super careful when my friend brings her 6-year-old son over. I make sure he's quiet and calm before I allow him to play with the dog and I supervise their interactions very closely.
If it was titled: Is it me or the Dog? It's most of the time, you, not the dog. And if it is the dog, even then the majority of the time was a previous owner. The tiniest fraction are cases where the dog needs medication.
I felt so bad when the mother started to realize that her and her husband’s behavior with the dog might have led to the death of their daughter’s gerbil. She was crying, you could see real remorse in that woman’s eyes, and the red of her cheeks, for what had happened to her poor daughter’s gerbil while the father just goes ‘ahhh’ and looks at his wife. It seemed as if he was looking at his wife for a proper way to emotionally respond to the situation or to try and shift blame emotionally away from himself. Honestly, just that scene there is a good enough argument as to why we shouldn’t teach our children to bottle up their emotions; because if you can’t take the blame and feel remorse you’ll just end up pushing those things onto another person who may or may not be involved.
@@myview2543 He allows his dog to be aggressive, he even encourages the behavior by laughing and treating it like play time. His little girl walked in on that dog eating her gerbil and the dog even bit her. She doesn't feel safe around that dog and her dad doesn't care. Yes it is the dad's fault and no it isn't just a gerbil. I don't care if that horrible dad cries or not. It would be great if he could learn to be a better man and take real responsibility for what happened.
@@myview2543 Don't give me that years ago bs, we live in the present, we don't live in paleolithic times. If your dog, who is known to be aggressive, bites your child and you keep the dog you are a bad parent. She was scared of it and he obviously didn't care all that much. Dog < child The gerbil was her pet and she cared for it. Obviously seeing that aggressive dog eating it was traumatic for her. Why is that? Because to her the gerbil was a safe cuddly animal that wasn't a threat to her so it easy for her to bond with the gerbil. Dad's dog has been aggressive and the dog killed something that she cared for, so yes, it hurt her when she saw that. That dog is better suited for a child free single pet househould. Oh and I stand by what I said about the dad. If you keep an aggressive dog after it bites your child you are a bad parent, and that goes for mom too.
the jack russell breed is an extremely intelligent one. he learned very quickly and was probably snapping out of a lack of stimulation and training. nevertheless, the father shouldn't have been so unrealistically light-hearted during the episode..

No wonder they can’t train a dog. Clearly they don’t know a thing about gerbil care either. God people annoy me, in what world is this cage okay to keep a live animal in
@War Wolf I mean ... you can leave your house, you know. No one's locking the door and forcing you to stay in there with little to nothing keeping you entertained.
When I was a kid, I was obsessed with Hamtaro and begged my mom to get a hamster. She basically told me that our Jack Russell Sophie can’t tell the difference between a pet hamster and a wild mouse. I’m really glad she put that into perspective for me, Sophie was a fantastic hunter and spent almost 16 years with us.
That poor girl, that must have been horrible, seeing her gerbil get killed by the dog. I know how that goes. When I was very little, I had a guinea pig named Sweet heart (my mom had gotten her for my bday), she was cute and loved playing on my bed with me. One day, my aunts dog knocked her cage over and bit her to death. My aunt lied and said she had a heart attack. 😾 Another of my aunts dogs also got to my lovebirds. I haven't finished watching this episode yet, so I hope it turns out well in the end. And yes, I said cage. For anyone whose going to say it was a horrible living situation for my sweet girl. I did have a cage for my guinea pig. I was very young. (Can't remember how old I was back then) and my mother also had no knowledge of enclosures for small pets. So Sweet heart was brought home along with the cage the pet store guy had recommended to my mother. Besides that I played with her often and she loved treats. I still miss her so much. I'm 24 now and have been doing a lot of reading up on different enclosures for animals. So whenever I can get my own house, I hope to get some little friends again, and in a safer and better environment.

Well it's more like she shows them how to train the dog so she trains the owners so they have the tools and skills to train their own dog because you can't change years of habit overnight xD
Typical "small dog mentality" from the owners. I get fed up of owners of small dogs thinking its "cute" or "brave" when they charge my 130lb blind leonberger. If i let my leonberger bark, charge and grab things it wouldnt be seen as "cute" so why let small dogs like jacks get away with that behaviour?
@@melanieandchristiandothest3269 its the same with most breeds the media deem "dangerous" (rotties, dobermans, staffies, pitties etc) makes the public freak out over nothing (in my opinion all these "bad" breeds ive met and owned are some of the most soppiest and loveable dogs - blame the deed not the breed) The 3 top biters where i live are dachshund, labs and border collies, all of which are considered "cute".
A subtle thing she was doing at 5:40 was removing the initial treat he was shown and giving him a different one. From what I've heard elsewhere, this can stop a dog from thinking that "leave it" means they will still get the prize eventually, which wouldn't work for stopping them from swiping food off the table or counter.
I'm a trainer, this is true - you don't want to make the reward the same as the "leave it". Even if it's a treat to use at first as bait use a different one, pick up the "leave it" to use again later.

The dog has the right to not like someone. The problem is that dogs cannot talk. We’ll never know his side of the story. Maybe Katie is an annoying girl.
6:33 "Little brain?" Bro, the little brain around here isn't the dog's. Look how quick he was to pick up on the command. How hard would it have been to teach him that much earlier???
The dad's got this permanent smirk on his face and that bothers me so much. Everytime someone has that, they always got something going on about them and it's never good.
This father looks completely void of all emotion - his expression is constantly inexpressive, his eyes rarely change, and his voice is so monotone - is he even awake through any of this?
His emotion file must have got corrupted during his last update. Don't worry the bug will be fixed in the next update scheduled the day his daughter turns 18 and she goes nc.
For anyone reading this: I’m just trying to spread the word that those critter trail cages are way too small for any animals. Gerbils especially cannot live in those. Any kids having a hamster or small rodent in one of those cages please consider upgrading to a bin cage. Cheap and easy.
For gerbils, anything plastic is probably a bad idea in the cage. Even the cage itself shouldn't be plastic. So i wouldn't recommend bins for gerbils, aquariums or glass enclosures is probably better. And same with rats and mice, but they're better in big bar cages since they love to climb (and from my experience, their poop smells *bad* so for better ventilation also)
Those cages are such a rip off! A lot of people tend to trust the seller's word when buying the critter and stuff from it, and spend a lot of money thinking they are getting the best to their pet when in reallity it is far from it.
The IKEA detolf is a great alternative for many small animals. It's nearly 1000 square inches and fairly cheap around £60 (not sure how much it is in the USA). It's glass as well. The only thing it you have to make your own lid which is pretty easy if you follow a tutorial. Definitely recommend if any is looking for a good cage.
Yeah, but that's really the parents fault. I had hamsters as a kid and tried my best, but just didn't know what they needed. I have one now and she lives the high life.
Also, *A* GERBIL? Gerbils are not hamsters, they have similar family structures like rats. They must be kept in groups, keeping them alone was torture enough, not to speak of that cage.
It's Me or the Dog Victoria is literally queen. She simply turns horrible dogs into well behaved dogs and always finds solutions to things like this. 💫🍒💖💖🦋🦋🦋💫💖
I love how Victoria can be serious and strict with horrible parents but also kind and so understanding with their poor children who had to live with these untrained dogs.
"The dog ate the gerbil ha HAHHHHAHHAHAH so funny!" "The dog mauled a cat HA HAHHAHAHHAHAHAGHAh so funny!" "The dog attacked a small child HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA so funny" That's the cycle with dogs like this that were not bred to sit in a house all day.
Blobbert Mcblob And the saddest part is when the dog escalates to the point that even the dad doesn’t think it’s funny, the dog gets dumped in a shelter.
Snow Bunny Prince My pit bull was perfectly fine with other animals and people, especially kids. My doberman currently babies and sees my ferrets as his puppies. He too is great with other animals and people. Its not about the breed, its about your ability to control that dog, train them or realize that you maybe shouldn’t get a small rodent with a ratting dog in the house if you cant even control your terrier in the first place.
Blobbert Mcblob My cousins watched their friend's cat. They have a dog and the dog mauled and ate the cat. My cousins thought it was hilarious and didn't care that their dog brutally murdered someone's beloved pet.
I think we all have to be honest watching the dog going after the mop was a bit funny though, I especially laughed when he pulled it from behind the door.
Like Victoria said, yeah it is cute and funny, but it's reinforcing that prey drive for chasing small things. Considering they had a small critter running around, that wasn't good for their house. However, it's completely possible to also teach the dog that this one gerbil is a friend to not be chased but he can chase other things.. which is what should have been done. They needed to teach him how to be around the gerbil instead of hiding the gerbil from him.
Eventide honestly a lot of people just aren’t meant to have pets like there were a few people that’s I wish Victoria took their dog(s) away because you could tell they weren’t going to continue doing what victoria taught. It makes me very sad that people can even go and get an animal knowing absolutely nothing about it and still not even learning about it while they have that animal.
Did anyone else notice how quickly Buddy learned that pretending to be interested in the mop = treats? Classic JRT, like he knew that they didn't want him to attack the mop and was okay with that, but then he also knew standing on the mop/watching the mop would get him a treat.
Victoria: Teaches dog an extremely basic "leave it" Women: THIS IS INCREDIBLE . . A dog with this drive can do even more amazing things if you put the damn time in to train it..
Even if you have a large yard, dogs still need external stimulation. They need someone to play with them, and to go for walks in different places so they can experience lots of new scents
That's just her coping with the lose of her pet. If I were in her shoes I would have done the same thing then excused to go to the bathroom and cry in there.
This girl is so sweet and gentle and I'm glad she has the support of the whole family now. I'm honestly impressed she didn't break down crying telling the story of her gerbil. And she's the one who found it too! Such a horrible experience, no wonder she was afraid of the dog.
You're not wrong, but they could've easily researched dog training online, and as dog owners they have the responsibility to learn these things _before_ they get a dog, not after it's already eaten another pet.
It’s like when the people who run a failing restaurant call Gordon Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmares. And they’re in denial that anything’s wrong… then why did they call????? Like?????
He's just doing it for the treat at that point. Look how deliberate he was in stepping on it and staring at the dad. My dog does this too when she wants a treat.
Gerbil would have chewed it's way out of that cage in no time anyway. Also gerbils are social and should be in pairs or more in an appropriate size cage. Unless they're saying "gerbil" when they mean hamster which is a whole other thing and should be kept alone in a much larger cage than those plastic ones in stores. I've seen too many people call them by the wrong names so I have to wonder. Please research small animals before you get them or give them to kids.
Yeah what I hate is when you get people who do that thing where they give a kid a small animal like a hamster and say if they can take care of it then they can have a puppy.. They're completely different animals and different styles of responsibility. It's FAR harder to have and keep a small animal than it is to have a larger one. Dogs can easily be trained to tell you different things like when they have to pee, when they're bored, etc. You can even teach them where exactly you want them to pee. Small animals you don't get those luxuries usually.. they just kinda do their thing and exist. Really parents should be doing it the other way around.. if a kid wants a gerbil/hamster they should take care of a dog first.
I got 2 cats from the pound that have Bengal in them the amount of prey drive they have is comparable I mean they hiss and growl when playing with their toys if they think it moved to let it know its their prey XD. We keep them very busy but I can understand not being prepared for the amazing drive some animals have and if you don't keep them busy it can EASILY turn on you or those around you. Thankfully we got two siblings together and they play with each other and our dogs so they all have a blast.
It was nice to see that they didn't gave up with his training and that the father did take it seriously and not as a joke after what Viktoria told him. That is why you should know what dog breed you take in to your home and why it is so important to train the dog!
Oh my gosh, imagine seeing your pet devour another pet... I am an 18 year old and I still shudder at the thought;;; I am impressed at how maturely she acted when describing the incident...
Imagine how stressed that poor gerbil was leading up to the attack, just knowing there was a predator near by. I know gerbils can live with dogs just fine, but not when the dog is constantly on the hunt.
+Andres Grandma-They probably didn't know that at all. They just saw what looked to be a small, very cute dog and figured it would be a harmless, perfect family dog. So many owners, especially at this point in time when the show was filmed, made the mistake of getting dogs just because they're cute without researching the breed and understanding what kind of dog they're taking on. JRTs can be very sweet, very loyal and devoted dogs, but they have to be trained right to curb their natural predatory instinct. And even then if you have small children and animals, you have to always be vigilante. JRTs are not necessarily a good dog to have around young kids, especially if you don't train them right. And they require a huge amount of exercise (this family probably wasn't exercising him enough either) to where Buddy probably ran around the house before he attacked the gerbil because he was bored. And even if the other JRT was calm and sweet towards small animals and kids, doesn't necessarily mean Buddy was going to be too. It could be they adopted the other JRT while he was older, mature, and better trained by a previous owner when they got Buddy as a puppy. Just because one dog is well behaved doesn't mean the other dog is going to be. The other JRT could have been so perfectly sweet and gentle towards the kids and the gerbil. Buddy clearly wasn't. And if you have a dog that has that kind of hyper predator drive kicking in, you can't have kids running around and you can't leave your gerbil unattended. You're inviting trouble, so either properly train the dog or don't adopt that kind of dog if you don't know how to care of one.
Train your dog and they’ll be fine. I had a rodent dog and mice at the same time, he never so much as looked at them once I trained him to leave them alone.
Feyra Kin that is true, but some dogs that genetically have a stronger prey drive and it’s more bred into their bloodline than some others. That does not apply to every dog
I mean Jack Russells are small game hunting dogs. They're literally bred to hunt small vermin. So I'm not surprised really. Who in the world would have a dog bred for vermin hunting around small animals
Bladamone Sauce lots of people. As u see he is EXTREMELY intelligent. He could have been trained to live with the gerbil but they made him think and trained him to react to the sweeper and nurtured that prey drive.
I have a hamster and a Maltipoo (Maltese are known for hunting rodents) but she knows not to touch my hamster or the smaller dogs. Training and patience is all you need.
I wonder why they didn't just tell the child to keep her bedroom door closed and then teach the dog her room is off limits (whether she remembers to close her door or not).
Honestly I'm amazed and proud that that little girl has any interest in Buddy after witnessing him eat her gerbil. I don't know if I would have fully understood the idea of animal instincts and forgiven my family's dog for eating my pet at that age. She seems very mature, polite, and smart. Really awesome to see her help out in training and be interested in training! Often the children in these do not want to help out much.
I loved that episode. The owners were so proud of the dogs, and they were super clueless, but once Victoria gave them tasks, they did their best and were so, so sweet, the "open the door" training was hilarious, the mother couldn't stop saying sorry every time she closed the door on Victoria. A really lovely family, well behaved kids and comprehensive parents. They did wrong, but corrected it.
Let me get this straight: the Jack Russell (a breed specifically bred to hunt small furry animals) was allowed in the same space as the family gerbil and the poor little thing ended up dead ... why am I not surprised the poor gerbil got eaten? CommonSense.exe has stopped working 😒😒😒 R.I.P Little Gerbil 💔🐹💔
Angel Pacheco true but at the same time not totally true, my family has cats and we also have a parrot. But the parrot has his own room with tv and air con, it’s incredibly rare the cats ever see him but when they do he _shrieks_ at them and scares them so bad they run back the way they came! Just because I’m _fairly sure_ they wouldn’t hurt him doesn’t mean I’d ever trust the cats alone, not for a single second! That’s what happened here ... oddly enough this happened to a relative of mine; she “introduced” their hamster to their cat, the cat bit the poor hamster, not hard enough to draw blood but still but him! Little Hammy was okay but thankfully the lesson was learned, still shake my head thinking about it to this day! 😓😓😓
I have heard too many horror stories lol. People see cute animal videos and read sweet stories and try to replicate it with their animals and them bam.
Angel Pacheco exactly, it only takes a moment for one to hurt the other especially when either one is so much bigger than the other or this: a tiny helpless animal is involved. A healthy dose of common sense is a big must for all pet owners!
My cat did eat my bird when I was little. The bird was an escape artist with the cage :( I didn’t actually see him do it but he had a wing in his mouth when I got home from school.
@@ytreece Oh god... Why did your parents do anything. Such a horribly predictable tragedy... You can hardly blame the cat for eating a bird that is fluttering around all the time.

"It's just a game" just like when people tell their dogs jokingly "sick em" or "go get em" and wonder when they get aggressive and attack. This isn't Buddy's fault at all, but then again when Is it the dogs fault. Jack Russel Terriers (along with other small dogs like Dachshunds) are not lap dogs, they are on a whole other level.
Dogs don't speak English. You can say "Sick Em" all day long with no increase in aggression. The dog is more likely to understand your "jokingly" tone of voice than somehow decide those words are a threat and they need to respond aggressively.
My dog loved going after the broom so I taught him to take the dustpan and bring it to me when I call. Now he waits until I am done, then grabs the broom and takes it to where it goes by the fridge and sometimes he will let go so I can put it away without a fight :) work in progress.
They may not have a clue how to train a dog, but my goodness they sure do raise some extremely fantastic kids!! Very impressed by their little munchkins.
I have a Jack Russell despite so many people telling me how difficult it would be. I worked really hard with my beloved boy to socialize him with other animals/dog's & people. It took a lot of patience & I admit some tears but we got there in the end. I've made sure he has NO small fluffy toys & any aggressive behaviour is dealt with immediately. My boy knows what "no", "stop" & "leave" all mean & he knows I MEAN IT. That means no laughing no matter how funny he may be. JR's are so intelligent & actually quite easy to train if you keep them focused & occupied, they are natural born comedians & are a serious JOY to live with
Victoria, having trained dozens and dozens of dogs throughout her career: You have a very smart dog. Dad: It was amazing to see his little brain working.
My favorite bit was at the end when they didn't give him treats for not attacking the mop and he put his little paw on it and stared at the dad for his treat to leave it. Smart puppy indeed
Hamsters and Gerbils, EVEN DWARF HAMSTERS need to be kept in like.... a 60 gallon tank for example. Bigger than that would be best. I own a rabbit, and she’s not even caged! She free roams all day every day, and we even trained our dog to leave her alone! Now, the two lay down next to each other and relax around the house.
Right!! The gerbil would have been alot safer from the dog too in a secure tank. My small robos in a 4ft tank and my syrian in an even larger custom made enclosure....sad that people think it's ok to keep small furries in such small cages😭
i think that’s really cool that your rabbit free roams, i would like to get a bunny and let it free roam someday, but i have a question. what do you do about the pee and poop? i’ve heard it’s hard for rodents to control their bladders and stuff, so wouldn’t they just use the bathroom all over the house?

You can use the 120l SAMLA boxes from IKEA if you make holes in the lid. Fairly cheap and they can't chew through the plastic.
I have 2 guinea pigs, I used to have gerbils, hamsters in small cages and they lived a happy life in a small cage with lots of tunnels, food, water, house and their ball to run in it
@@wolfygaming7222 no cage is big enough for a rabbit. They need a minimum 3x3m of enclosure
@@catherinecullinan7159 absolutely wrong wild hamsters run many miles each night . Studies proved that they need a minimum 4000cm2 of floor (and multiple floors doesnt count) to stop stereotypes
Plus u just CANT have a large enough wheel in a too small cage (21cm for a dwarf and 28 for a syrian hamster)
Stop making yourself believe ur pets had a great life just cause u thought it was. It makes no sense to have a pet and not offer it the biggest place u can. They arent objects

Not to excuse the behavior, but a lot of people don't understand what is the best way to train a dog.
Honest John
I understand. I just don’t see why you would get a dog (especially a terrier) and not give it exercise or train them.
Why do people get a dog breed that isn’t right for them?
They didn't know it would go like this.
How are they supposed to know tbh?
They don't do research - they just pick a breed because it looks cute- and Jackies are cute- there is a reason why there is so many dalmations in the shelters. People don't do research, see them on tv - oh they look cute, let's get it and then bam! Dog bites because it's not trained properly. And a lot of people think that small dog=barely any walking therefor they aren't tired enough therefor they become destructive.
Lack of self education. Isn't it standard advice to research the animal/breed before buying? (Assuming you are new to keeping said animal/breed).
Do Ur research every responsible pet owner does this

True

@@myview2543 Don't give me that years ago bs, we live in the present, we don't live in paleolithic times.
If your dog, who is known to be aggressive, bites your child and you keep the dog you are a bad parent. She was scared of it and he obviously didn't care all that much. Dog < child
The gerbil was her pet and she cared for it.

Yep. Wrong type of cage, wrong type of toys. Keeping a herd animal alone. Unfortunately small animals suffers from the most unintended neglect.

Dog: Harms daughter and eats daughters gerbil

Spooky What I’m baffled about is, why is the young girl somewhat smiling while talking about her dog eating her gerbil in 1:03 ?

Typical "small dog mentality" from the owners. I get fed up of owners of small dogs thinking its "cute" or "brave" when they charge my 130lb blind leonberger. If i let my leonberger bark, charge and grab things it wouldnt be seen as "cute" so why let small dogs like jacks get away with that behaviour?

The 3 top biters where i live are dachshund, labs and border collies, all of which are considered "cute".
My friend has a bijon that can’t even really walk on a leash. Luckily he has a nice temperament but if he were a big dog it would be trouble

And same with rats and mice, but they're better in big bar cages since they love to climb (and from my experience, their poop smells *bad* so for better ventilation also)
That’s what I said too 😂😂 I cant believe they aren’t illegal to sell
Those cages are such a rip off! A lot of people tend to trust the seller's word when buying the critter and stuff from it, and spend a lot of money thinking they are getting the best to their pet when in reallity it is far from it.
THANK YOU, literally when I saw the picture of the cage I sighed, these parents shouldn't own pets if they don't do proper research
I love Victoria’s doggo gifts. Doggy treadmills, obstacle courses, new comfy beds, she always nails it.
That cage for the gerbil is HORRIBLE. The quality of that gerbil's life was really low. Please don't follow this example

Yeah, but that's really the parents fault. I had hamsters as a kid and tried my best, but just didn't know what they needed. I have one now and she lives the high life.
*YuNgBlUd bHc* I’d rather be in a cage then getting eaten alive, I do agree that the cage is bad, but it’s the parents fault, not the kids
Also, *A* GERBIL? Gerbils are not hamsters, they have similar family structures like rats. They must be kept in groups, keeping them alone was torture enough, not to speak of that cage.

My pit bull was perfectly fine with other animals and people, especially kids.
I love how Victoria is blunt and honestly harsh, but still knows when to hold off and be supportive, she's for social skills in the baaaaaag!

Jack Russells are like tazmanian devils. They have all that energy. Thankfully we have a big yard and we used to just let our jack russell run around.
Even if you have a large yard, dogs still need external stimulation. They need someone to play with them, and to go for walks in different places so they can experience lots of new scents

Everyone is saying “the people don’t know how to train him”THAT IS WHY THEY CALLED VICTORIA *Not to be rude*
You're not wrong, but they could've easily researched dog training online, and as dog owners they have the responsibility to learn these things _before_ they get a dog, not after it's already eaten another pet.

Best breed ever. My life is not complete without at least one Jack in it. My two are living their best lives ever.
Me too.thats why i have one!
This family didn't do their homework on the dog breed, why bother with proper gerbil care?
The daughter seems like she is paying the bills. Hah.
She would’ve sent both the dog and the dad to the pound in that case
Yup, my dog is half Terrier. Wasn't ready for that high prey drive. He also is a big broom attacker :). Starting to get better.
Same. I have a Jack Russell x Maltese
Uh train it
I just trained my Patter-Jack to stay on the sofa whilst I sweep up. Problem solved. I get the broom out, he jumps on the sofa and watches.
Hi Victoria, I tried using some of your tips and tricks with my two Cotton's and IT WORKS LIKE MAGIC. I love you and the show, love your energy!
Why would you have a Jack Russell when you know it hunts small animals while you have a gerbil-
Imagine how stressed that poor gerbil was leading up to the attack, just knowing there was a predator near by. I know gerbils can live with dogs just fine, but not when the dog is constantly on the hunt.
They have another jack Russell who didn't hunt their gerbil. That's probably why
@@singingstars5006 it wasnt her room she said "play room" meaning it was a different room not her bedroom
Agree whole heartedly. It seems so obvious. It's like asking a Doberman not to bark at a stranger.
Often the children in these do not want to help out much.
critter trails are small horrible cages for small animals. poor gerbil was already being neglected
So true.
Yeah
Gerbils eat plastic too
@@Smolnsalty also it is way too small
Hamster wheels damage gerbils backs...
This family looks like a movie. I thought they were actors for a second. What a cute doggie!
The biggest challenge isn't the animals.... It's training myself.
Family:doesn't train dog
Family: trains dog, finds out it is smart
Family:Surprised Pikachu face
I loved that episode. The owners were so proud of the dogs, and they were super clueless, but once Victoria gave them tasks, they did their best and were so, so sweet, the "open the door" training was hilarious, the mother couldn't stop saying sorry every time she closed the door on Victoria. A really lovely family, well behaved kids and comprehensive parents. They did wrong, but corrected it.

BEST DOG TRAINER IN THE WORLD
Lol
Poor lil lass, I hope she's doing better and has kept her compassion and sweet nature
The daughter so responsible and respectful
Wow, that dog is SMART. It took him like 30 seconds to understand "Leave it".
Let me get this straight: the Jack Russell (a breed specifically bred to hunt small furry animals) was allowed in the same space as the family gerbil and the poor little thing ended up dead ... why am I not surprised the poor gerbil got eaten?
CommonSense.exe has stopped working 😒😒😒
R.I.P Little Gerbil 💔🐹💔
It's like when people with cats get birds.
It's a gerbil bruh
It was kinda funny when he tried to get the sweeper from the door😅
Victoria: This dog is so smart!
Me: Yes, dress him up in outfits and have him teach the literary canon, it is his destiny!
Kelsey Power What’s the story, Wishbone!
💚
If this was a large dog it would be put down right away
Imagine coming home on halloween to your gerbil in your dogs stomach Poor girl I have birds and a bird HUNTING dog I'm scared🦜🐶
This the most likes I have ever got THANK YOU!!!!!
My cat did eat my bird when I was little. The bird was an escape artist with the cage :( I didn’t actually see him do it but he had a wing in his mouth when I got home from school.
Omg, I'm so sorry for you I'm checking my birds right now sorry for your loss🦜🦜🦜
@@ytreece Oh god... Why did your parents do anything. Such a horribly predictable tragedy... You can hardly blame the cat for eating a bird that is fluttering around all the time.
Maybe dont have prey animals with predator animals. Accidents happen everyday.
I have a 13 year old jack Russell who is such a beautiful delightful little boy he and our 19 month old staffy are everything to my son and I xx
Noice
Still be careful around little animals
@@painpain4490 my friends border collie ate their bird. And my neighbours husky killed 12 of our chickens. Blame the owners , not the breed.... All our JRT's walks free on our farm among our chikens, horses, rabbits etc and would not hurt any of them
@Angie B Constant Barking dogs are irritating as hell no matter the breed.
@Angie B no darling he barks at the neighbor's dog because they make a nuisance of themselves banging into the fence and barking until he notices. But other than that the animals on TV usually and when people come in if they don't pay him attention lol he tells them of until they do xx
Me and my Jack Russel is just sitting on the couch thinking wth.
Me too! Lol
Victoria is like a therapist she sweet nice and she’s very understanding.
The dog is more likely to understand your "jokingly" tone of voice than somehow decide those words are a threat and they need to respond aggressively.
anyone else notice that other poor dog when shes saying, "leave it" wantinging a treat
Ikr don’t ignore the good doggo.
Honestly that dog is SUPER intelligent. It's sad that he got stuck with owners like that. (The kids are great, I meant the parents).
jack russels are very bad with kids
The daughter is so mature and adorable. ❤
Seems to be luck more than any actual foresight, skill or planning...
I would hate that dog and my parents... q__q" Why did they buy such a breed???
Honigball probably uninformed about the breeds characteristics.
There’s nothing wrong with the breed it’s only the dog
The problem is the family, most specifically, the dad. Clearly.
I love how this show shows how clever dogs actually are. There's no such thing as a bad dog, there's only bad owners.
0:58 quick nose rub to hide my smirk, at hearing my dog ate my daughters gerbil
buddy with the mop: *GOTTA SWEEP SWEEP SWEEP-*
@@madisonhamel417 they're not rodents. Also you can train them to use a litter box.
The fathers face makes me mad alone, his little smirk
Family: buys a small animal (bird, hamster etc)
Dog: eats small animal
