      Like yeah, I understand he's upset and frustrated with this dog he didn't want (justifiably), but the fact is that the dog is here now and he can do at least a little bit for it. Nobody is asking him to do everything, and he shouldn't have to. His reactions just seem kind of petty and childish to me.

    I hate everything about the husband. He is arrogant, ignorant, selfish, self-centred, doesn’t really want help with the dog, he wants Victoria to fail, so he has an excuse to get rid of the dog. It doesn’t matter how much his wife apologises and grovels (which she shouldn’t need to do), he will never be satisfied, he just wants her to feel bad/guilty forever. He’s a waste of space. He needs to go more than anyone.

    • @karenlloyd1705
      @karenlloyd1705 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Why? He didn't want the dog, he is at fault for not putting his foot down right at the start. Yes he now needs to help sort the dog out but I really do understand why he is so angry with his wife

    • @Soy_boi
      @Soy_boi 4 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      @@karenlloyd1705 but here is the thing, he will not accept her apologies or even acknowledge them. When people have justified anger or feel wronged, apologies serve to prove they are right and valid their feelings and prove the other acknowledges their bad behavior. However, apologies do not work when the anger is motivated by a need of power and control, or pettiness. In this situation, he doesn’t want things to be sorted out, he just wants to make his wife feel bad and get her to listen to him, which can be seen in the way he reacts to her apologies.
      People like you need to realize that feelings, like anger, are some of the best tools manipulators, abusers, and narcissists use to control others.

    I got a dog and my husband hated her. She had severe separation anxiety. I got help, lots of advice and lots of google and spent hours training her, not just to be calm but how to play, socialise at the park, meet new people and just how to dog it. She was a rescue that had her tail broken was 60% underweight, got severe HGE and all by 5 months old. But after all those hours of training, my husband loves her to bits. Success is about how much you REALLY love your dog and getting good advice.

      Separation anxiety is such a hard thing to overcome. When I first took in our lab (a stray), she was severely anxious when we had to leave. The first time we crated her, she pulled on her crate so bad she popped a weld a cut her face. This was a week in. Took a few stitches right above her eye.
      It took putting her in the crate for a few minutes at a time and walking out of the room. I would let her out after she settled down for a few minutes. It took a couple months, but she finally learned that we would come back, and started sleeping when we put her in the crate.
      They can really hurt themselves and damage property in their panic.

    I have a dog with extreme separation anxiety. He had a rough start to life, to say the least. I worked with my vet, a trainer, and ultimately for his safety he got put on prozac. He was trying to chew through his hefty metal crate which is what prompted meds.
    He still has anxiety, but with medication (at a lower dose than at first) he's able to be home alone and chill.
    Every dog is different.
    Now I work from home, but he still snoozes the day away, or moves up and downstairs.
    I can leave him and his siblings all day if needed and they are ok.

      Do you REALLY want to solve the problem? Do you want it more than to cling to a training ideology? If so, find a competent BALANCED trainer. First, forget the "difficult past" and the "why". Stop coddling the dog because of its difficult past and just focus on HOW to solve the problem without any empathy or guilt. The answer for separation anxiety is generally, get it off the meds, IMMENSE structure... respecting thresholds, authority over entering and exiting the crate, always under command while in the house, no free roaming (downstay or place), no free feeding, cut affection to near ZERO, strict obedience, make the windows and doors HOT (not covered).... yes that means an eCollar with a remote camera, crate the dog when you are not home in a secure and safe crate that they can't break out of. This couple tried some of the right tools. They just didn't know how to use them which is why you need a balanced trainer to guide you. Greg mentioned that they were 4 months into the training! FOUR MONTHS to get a dog to say 3 minutes alone. OH PLEASE. I promise you, with a good balanced trainer, you will see tremendous results in a short timeframe... no meds and no window coverings, and you will see a tremendous change and your dog and your relationship with your dog will completely change once you become the leader that your dog needs. You will be happier. Your dog will be happier, and you can eventually have the affectionate and satisfying relationship with your dog that you dream of.... much faster and much more easily than is presented in this video. Also, Victoria said that this is the most extreme case that she has seen and was so dramatic about fixing separating anxiety. I don't think she has seen extreme. You know when separation anxiety is extreme??? It's when the dog literally rips out all of its own teeth trying to get out of the crate because it's so out of its mind and you come home to a pool of blood. That's when you had better have a REALLY good trainer.

    It amazes me how many of these I watch and you look around and these problem dogs you don't see toys for thedogs. You don't see dog beds in the rooms, you dont see 'doggy things' in the homes of dogs with these problems. Dogs need more than just food and water.
    I'm disabled and my dogs are medical alert service dogs and retired service dogs so there with me 24/7, and even so I still have a kennel open for them to retreat into when they want to get away from people and have there own space. I have dog beds all over so they have there own places to lay down on the floor, and blankets on the spots on the furniture ment for them so they can burrow and snuggle without worry on my furniture. There is a basket of toys in each room that they get things out of, and i have trained them to put there toys away when there done playing so they don't get under my wheelchair. So even if I decide to go next door and not take my dog with me, they don't stress out. They have toys, beds, treats, chew things, and they know I'll be back.

    My parents have a very anxious Chilean rescue dog, shes terrified of other dogs and can be quite difficult to walk, she also needs to share her living space with my cat whos a bit older and not fond of other animals in her living space
    I think the amount of love and compassion you show your pet will make a world of difference in life, my dogs is so well loved by my entire family (including myself before I moved out for college), she loves just lazing around the house with whoever she can find and running around the backyard, she never bothers my cat and we have not had any issues with her to this day

      I had a dog like this with this level of separation anxiety. Honestly after every other Avenue the only thing that really works is medication. Cause no matter how much excersise and attention you give the dog when your around a dog with separation anxiety still goes bonkers the second you leave. Combine medication with ALOT of desensitizing to the triggers. And alot of exercise when with the dog. Then you can get to something slightly manageable. But separation anxiety like this requires medical treatment.

      You set boundaries with your children, you TEACH your children independence and help them DEVELOP confidence...
      Animals are no different. They've got a LOT of committed work to do TOGETHER TO undo 6 years of THEIR bad "training " They've instilled in this poor dog.

He doesn't want to get a dog but I'm okay since I know that I'll be the one feeding, walking and caring for it but that is smth I accept. Ok first of all, the fact that the dog stayed in the house, must mean that he at some point accepted the dog being there. Probably when he was a puppy he didn't cause that much trouble so he was indifferent, then when the trouble began he bailed out. No buddy, if he really didn't want a dog, the dog shouldn't have been allowed to stay even for a day in their house.
    But then, the absolute lack of empathy he shows to his wife is shocking. Even if it's all her fault, if you care about someone you want to help them, not pin them down, guilt them to oblivion, then make them feel worse about it.
    What's the point of family if you can't turn to it when you make mistakes and need help?
    Edit: Ok glad he showed some signs of care and understanding at the end.

I had a dog with that level of separation anxiety. There’s no amount of exercise that changes that without medical treatment.
