my rule with sakhal is keep food and water full white and make a fire whenever i lose my heat buff or go light blue temp i also try to get at least two or three heat buffs before going inland its been working really well i havent been sick once and only die to other players
I notice that if you get started dealing with your stats issues as they get bad you think you'll have time, but you're always in a bad spot by the time you get to eating the fish you caught by the fire you made. It's really smart to stay well ahead of your stats here, it's a lot of fun.
This is the same strategy for me as well. One thing that's helped me tremendously is keeping a fireplace in inventory and filling it's slots with supplies as I go. Any time I need a fire, I can make a replacement from its inventory on the spot. It saves so much time and space.
Sakhal is the best thing to happen to DayZ for console. It's tough but it's so much more satisfying as you stay alive and keep traveling along. I've actually made it up to the volcano twice during the day. But, I didn't find the scientist refuge until the second time. Unfortunately, there were no keys. The torch with rags is my next go to tool along with crafting a fishing pole. I've survived longer because I go fishing soon after each new spawn. I can't remember the town, but there's one area where there's a shipwreck on the shore. And you can move inside the shipwreck and fish while hiding inside the hull. It's a great place I fish every time I find it.
This map is giving me the challenge I needed. Mostly a solo player, so luckily my crafting skills have been keeping me alive. Haven't made it too far inland. Buddies, have been struggling slightly more than me. Used the torch to go south along the eastern side, south of City North and hit up a military area and a town and got high insulation gear. Had to run through a blizzard and almost got lost and almost ran up the volcano. Don't know what happened, but Luck was on my side. I took the chance and bagged a reindeer and booked it back to the outskirts of the city. Blizzard still raging. Hopped in a shed and had to eat the whole thing because I almost froze and starved to death. Lol. Freaking love it, seriously. I needed this challenge
I love when blizzards are going on, chilling in a house by a fire with a friend looking out the window almost feels as magical as it does in real life. I love the snow and I love blizzards.
Yea I think it's cozy. When sakhal first dropped and all the US servers were full I was on a German server and it was almost pure PVE on the coast. Everyone would gather, get warm, and play nice before splitting off. Got on a us server and fresh spawns are trying to punch you to death for your bandage lol
Ive been making fires outside the houses and going to the wall next to it inside.. gives me a heads up most people go to the fire not in the house when they see it.
Great video! I'd only argue the first point about the ice sheets because they're totally worth traveling over in some cases and it's only deadly if you aren't properly prepared with some better-than-base clothing, ability to make fires when you arrive at your destination, and a way to get food or bring water. They're not that deadly if you buff up and gear up a little bit in the starter towns first!
Awesome tips as usual. Always boil food if possible. The amount of hydration given from food has been severely nerfed. Boiling gives way more hydration and is still safe to eat even if the water hasn't been chelated. Does it makes sense? No, not really. 😅
I’ve swam out to the mili island a crap load of times already and most of the crate islands. It’s not hard at all ands it’s 100% viable. I’ve done it at least 8x now and I haven’t gotten sick or lost more that a sliver of health idk why people keep saying this in videos because it’s not nearly as dangerous as people make it out to be like at all. Just make a fire when you get to the other side. You should edit that part most respectively
@AlwaysStreams LMAO I think I play differently to most players. I play survival and avoidance of players. Players are more dangerous than the infected 😲 🫨
@@Ross_Stewart Players are what made dayz popular. Dayz need the balance of PvP and pve. If you take away PvP, then It's very boring, but if you take away the pve, then It's also boring.
@isbjornen7418 true that. Don't get me wrong, I'll take on another player if I have to but I don't run round gearing up just to take on other players to take their gear to take on other players. I'd rather just survive endless days lol
No roadmap yet, they usually announce them at the beginning of the year. It's generally comprised of smaller updates leading to a larger one. I'm hoping for base building
@@AlwaysStreams No effing basebuilding!!! I'd rather play minecraft, way better in terms of pve and building. When servers focus mainly on building, the server becomes very empty, quiet and boring. Don't destroy vanilla dayz. We already have decent, simple basebuilding. Nothing fancy (as it shouldn't be), but it works.
I love it. Makes things harder. Makes you choose to leave things over others instead of pulling a runningmanz and literally hoarding anything you find lol Remember, it’s a survival game, and what they are doing is making you survive. Great change in my opinion
@@crazydogdog2831 I agree, and while it is annoying it makes loot progression so much more important because you can actually hold a few of the semi-essentials that you'd have to pass up with low-tier clothing
@@crazydogdog2831I think the idea is great but the execution is just a little much. Like the entire hunter gear tree is almost useless once you get military gear, jackets are low insulation once they get worn and packs are smaller than combat packs now. I get they didbt want equivalent gear to be found earlier than a mil base but i also dont think fuether limiting what good gear a player uses is a good idea. Its a lot leas feasible to do hunter or civllian gear now that it was, which is boring imo. Fine with smaller spaces but they shoulve berfed some civillain gear to be more viable, irl whilst soem military gear is good theres a lot of civillian stuff that is too.
Not a super helpful video. Make a fire, stock up on an unnecessary amount of food, find a well, carry on. That’s it. Also don’t take your food off when it’s raw hahaha wait til it’s cooked and put it in your pants or shirt when it’s still hot. It helps you stay warmer longer. And calling it The Amy Winehouse? I don’t get it. She wasn’t deaf, blind, or heavy metal. 😂

It's added a lot everywhere but console specifically is killing it right now!

Couldnt agree more, I think it just gives a new and fresh way to play
Sounds like my adventure too, 👍

The Amy Winehouse was outta pocket lmao
unnecessary roughness. 15 yards
Well he’s not wrong?😑

Good idea
I love this map and the snow/blizzard mechanics. I like the survival aspect and this takes it up a notch from previous maps
The blizzards are definitely one of my favourite things. It just makes everything more fun
Charcoal Tablets also work if your still in the early stage worked for me after drinking water from the hotsprings.

Yeah you're right. But it'd not worth it for 2 mags and a box of ammo.
I use them to get to my base super quickly, but for general travel I never recommend it. Prepping always helps
I tried crossing the ice sheets with a dry bag with everything I need for a few fires. But the fires didn't want to stay on on the ice and I died haha
yepp plus the ole trusty method of using a cooking stove or gas lamp to get a heat buff doesnt work anymore :(
I used a heat buff + constantly sprint and light a torch after crossing each ice cap. Made it to the islands and eventually the end game mil base
Awesome tips as usual.

That's definitely good advice!
I think playing Sakhal has hardened me and I've gotten GUD. Whenever i return to Chenarus or Livonia, i shall return a winter hardened badass.
5:00 lol can't argue with that logic 😂

ngl the ocean gate joke caught me off guard lol
Interesting tips! I'm loving Sakhal, and I'm still only on your second spawn since the 15th 😊😊😊
Oh nice xD I have lost count of mine
@AlwaysStreams LMAO I think I play differently to most players. I play survival and avoidance of players. Players are more dangerous than the infected 😲 🫨
@AlwaysStreams because I think the aim of the game is to survive the longest so avoiding other players means I last ages ... that's what she said!

The real challenge is not getting eaten by other players.
I killed a random player because when I got close I noticed his hands were bloody 😮
Man dayz is such a fun game nowadays. Anyone now if there's a road map for 2025?

Love how they made inventory slots smaller. If the backpack held 45 instead of 30 then everything be perfect

They did it to need duping
Where did you get the chicken breasts from. I haven't seen a chicken at all😂
First. Am loving Sakhal, real hardcore stuff. Although the boiling snow thing didn't kill me i was only ill for about 5 minutes
Sakhal is so good
Second - never even thought about crossing the ice sheets lol
It's useful if you have a base on an island for quicker access
