To me the map of Sakhal is a game changer...for...you know...a game. Seriously, I am very excited about Sakhal. Especially as a console player, it represents a new map that focuses on the survival aspects of...you know....a survival game. But, seriously folks. I welcome it not only because it really forces players to focus more on surviving and not just KOS and PVP. Because of the harsh environment, you have to work at staying warm and fed. Which means if you decide to camp a location, you will have to build more fires to stay. Which also means you become more visible to players around you. This to me makes the decision to engage in PVP more selective. In the end, DayZ becomes even more of a post apocalyptic game because of this intensified focus on survival. I expect to die a lot when I first start playing on Sakhal. And even though I don''t want to die if I'm geared, I still see death as the beginning of a new adventure. So, bring it on. Sakhal for the win! P.S. Oh, and the price is perfectly fine with me. It costs money to develop a game. And it's a lot less than the $70 for Call of Duty. Which I stopped playing a couple versions ago, anyway.
Agree, the thing is, although the hardcore survival element here is a main focus, they've also added a huge amount for PVP too. I cut about 4 minutes of video taking about PVP because I felt it gave just too much away. But it balances well.
I'm really excited for this DLC. I often find myself jumping back to games like The Long Dark to get my survival game fix. It lacks the interaction with other players though. This makes it a bit difficult to get back into PVP on Dayz 😅. Now I won't feel the desire to game swap as much.

Rather its worth it or not is something everyone should learn for themselves. It is worth it to me personally, its a new OFFICIAL map and introduces so many new things into the Vanilla game. I've seen people compare it to maps like Namalsk because the two are very similar. Also tbh, I've been watching streamers play on Sakhal and I doubt it will have any more pvp than any other DayZ map once the "wow something new" factor dies down.
Always loved Namalsk as my favorite map, partially cause of the difficulty and snow, partially because of how much better it is for seeing long distance (can easily see 1200-1400m and hit shots compared to much lower view distances on Chernarus) so I'm really looking forward to this new official map and hopefully the view distance is just as good if not better
I remember when they first added hyper and hypo thermia to DayZ and battling the cold, I think there used to be an animation to do push ups also to warm up. Think sakal will be like that update
I play Dayz on console and am looking forward to exploring "Sick-hal". I was disappointed to see the lack of anything on the surrounding islands and it is my hope that they will be featured in either an update or some kind of event like the annual Halloween event. I've grown up around the Rocky Mountains, Sakhal looks like home. This last week has been a bit of a farewell to its predecessors and I am looking forward to Frostline. Cheers!
Personally, I just want to see more building variety in cities or villages/towns. I wanna see bars with a basement that leads to a comedy club when you go downstairs. That huge factory building that literally has all of it's damn doors barred off..? I wanna go inside! I've seen slight improved building variety in this map but I need more! Lol
PC Player here, I am super stoked for this map to drop as Livonia was favorite vanilla map I pretty much play by self on private server just for building and survival. I think this will be a great addition it. A whole map and experience for the price of one COD skin 😂 its a no brainer.
Im really torn. It’s nauseatingly clear that there’s a LOT of streamers who are gushing over this map for no other reason than to keep getting early access to new releases from the dev team, so to see an objective view is refreshing.. thank you for that. The map looks wonderful, but 75% of the cost of the game is a dealbreaker for me. This is a no brainer for the console crowd since they only have one map. But since Im a PC player with access to the modding community who does a wonderful job I might add.. I’ll wait till it goes on sale and the modders fix the lack of variety of weapons that are available. To each their own
@@clutchitup8565 it’s amazing 🤷♂️ it’s also very unique from every other map. Definitely the best map they have, way better than the original. I swear I get sick every 5 seconds on that map just to put myself to sleep
I’ve played 12hrs of sakahl , I’m just gonna say YES it’s a must buy for console and pc I bought both to support the Devs. Especially ARMA Reforger I cannot wait for that to drop for ps , it’s such a good game on Xbox
Long time DayZ player (since the very very beginning) and I am 100% buying this DLC. I haven't played DayZ in over 2 months... cannot wait for this game to drop so I can get back into DayZ.
Really really love the video !! So would you advise in regards to the springs to just take your time to investigate all your surroundings as they seem hidden ?
They're not super hidden. You should be able to find them quite easily if you go high in the North. There are a few scarring the land and they're definitely useful
This is such a amazing map for new players lmao I ran into a new player yesterday on cherno ps5 and he was sick fem eating with blood hands and had no idea why he was dying imagine a cold map that's hard ASF sense you start like this map only for og players
Yeah bro, saying how beautiful the map is for 8 minutes out of 12 does not attribute to the ultimate DayZ experience. Survival needs to have some sort of a meaning. Look for instance what the crazy dude from the Deer Isle has created - a set of goals you need to achieve in order to “complete” the map. “The bunker” concept is a laughable attempt at creating such an adventure. New infected types, hordes, AI behaviors, map events - this is what makes a next level survival experience, and not a beautiful mountain, -10 Celsius and two more diseases…
@@GoblinWarlordGaming I disagree to a point. Survival maybe was the point in 2010s, when Dean Hall created DayZ mod, back when it was a new concept and uncharted territory, which is why it felt so fresh even tho the mechanics were, let’s say, not the best. We are now in 2024, a time when not only the DayZ itself is more than 10 years old, but has created a sh[]ton of copycats. It’s absolutely fine if you are still the one to wear a bear pelt and create a story out of a 10km walk to NWAF, but a lot of players want further development and modernization of this game as a concept.
Love the map so far, especially the fact that i have no idea where I am and where i need to go. Chernarus and livonia were getting boring cause when I spawned i just looked around, knew where i was and where i needed to go. No surprises anymore, I'm not using any maps except the in game paper ones. Izurvive map ruined chernarus for me and I regret ever using them. Surviving is not that difficult just needs a different pace get to a firestation early cause the pants and jacket have the best insulation and will keep you warm a long time. And when warming up make sure you hitcthe three + symbols, you can walk in the cold for a long time especially when carrying a heat pack thise actually do something here. Food is easy enough, keeping hydrated is more difficult for me cause I haven't seen a single spring yet.😂
As a console player, its better than having nothing. But the only issue is, 30 bucks? But we only get new map, the makeshift craftable bow even tho we shouldve gotten it some time ago, a boat.... some new animations and stuff. 3 new animals..... like..... that doesnt seem like 30 bucks if you think about it. But hey, people can criticize and have an opinion whether its worth the 30 bucks or the dlc is worth to buy. But im buying it regardless cuz my friends on console are getting it too and we need a new experience. I just believed they missed out on adding more things such as new guns or new vehicles, and more new items. Also its been too long since we've ever had an decent new gun aside form the Vikhor and Dmr. It sucks they did the dmr dirty when you look back at rhe arma 2 dayz mod the dmr had the hunting scope on it but we get the two modern scopes. Then we got another mediocre gun the Vs boltaction sniper that doesnt even get to use a regular suppressor. It also uses the western scopes. Like when are we gonna actually get any decent guns. Like who wants to be running around with bottle suppressors and looking for tapes and bottles. Then theres also the issue of trying to engage with an enemy at long distances. Also then theres pc and their mods, ive seen some marksman and snipers having PROPER scopes that arent ass cheeks.
As someone who has played Bohemia Interactives games since operation flashpoint elite on original Xbox in 2005, and then got a pc just to play Arma, I really wish they would use the console version of DayZ as proof that Arma could be transferred to console. I have played Arma Reforger on Xbox but it’s very far from a classic Arma feel to me, and doesn’t even feel as good as DayZ control wise. Either way I love Bohemia and DayZ and I’m glad we even got DayZ
Release week will be the best time to enjoy the map. After that, modders will mod every hardcore feature out as the server race to the bottom begins. After a month there'll be helicopters and 50 cals, no diseases, no cold, no diseased meat, no heavy metal poisoning. Same story as every other map.
Canadian army vet here. I have some concerns. One of the reasons I got the original DayZ was because I missed the field, and having also travelled to the occasional eastern Europe and ex-soviet countries (eg former Yugoslavia), the aesthetics remind me of some of the places I've seen. Now, when the video mentioned snow as an option for hydration, there was nothing I heard about the actually effects in a survival situation, dropping your core body temperature. That's right, you should not use snow for hydration ina survival situation as it will cause you to burn more energy just bringing the water up to body temperature. Sure, add an "acid rain" to the mechanic, but we are not in the realism space. If we wanted to up the realism, unpacked clear snow will take forever to walk through, which is why you send someone to "break the ground" if moving as a team. But I didn't see any speed changes. Imagine the surprise in a firefight if you suddenly can't run and you have snow halfway up to your thigh. (You don't run really if it is up to your knee, you attempt to bound. Think knees touching your hands at hip level kind of exercise/work) So I'm also guessing they don't have snow as something you can easily shoot through, because you can in real life. Set up a snow creet and freeze over with water, and you might have a defensive position. But back to survival. What you don't realize, is that you sweat when doing work in the cold. You feel like you have no issues until the sweat starts to dry, and then the moisture wick away your body heat. On top of that, your clothing gets clogged with sweat, so there are less air pockets that help you stay warm. This is why you use layers, open your clothing when exerting yourself and desperately try to avoid sweating. Also, they type of cold (warmer and damp verses dry and wickedly cold) dictates how bad things can get (wet steals your heat. Dry, if insulated from the wind, can feel easier (though your nostril closing because of the moisture in your head at minus 35 Celsius is just life in Edmonton Alberta sometime). I guess, I would love to like Frostline, but it sounds like it will be initially the "idea" someone has of fighting and surviving in the cold, not the reality. Hopefully stuff like this hit's the devs ears, and the unique mil-sim zombie survival game Dayz is, shows us all that survival is not as simple as you thought it was. (P.S. Someone put a tired mechanic in DayZ, where you need a 3 minute cat nap. It's surprising the number of times I've comfortably fallen asleep in the snow because of a long day. But only add this mechanic if you include hypothermia. When the shivering stops, you are in a BAD place (comes with confusion and disorientation) My $0.02
Yeah that’s too much I like running around snapping legs getting gear not trying to break ground and have to take naps haha. Definitely cool ideas but not for official DayZ. Just so you know that’s almost all already a thing on pc with mods for this game
As somebody who played a lot of arma 3, it always irked me wrong that they're essentially asking 25 bucks for a map I've already payed for. But it does seem they've added their own flavor to it. Still, I'm not sure if this map is worth the pricetag ESPECIALLY because Namalsk is free and offers an extremely similar experience. For console players it does seem like it's absolutely worth it though
I would honestly be more excited than i am if it wasnt for the fact that they have reused all the arma 2 buildings, might seem petty but i just cant get past how they are still using them
Honestly, if you just play the game and that's it, then I'd say get it. But if you run a server on console and have to use the DayZ editor, I wouldn't. I do like the map, but I shouldn't have to buy the DLC on my PC too just to use the DayZ editor to add stuff for my console server. You have to buy the console edition, then buy Sakhal on console, then own DayZ itself on PC, then buy the DLC again for PC just to use the editor. I don't know, but I'm quitting because it's a cash grab. If you still enjoy the game, then props to you, but I'm done supporting lazy businesses that act like they do so much but they don't.
I play on PS5 and i would say yes, you should. But, wait for a sale - i mean yes it is worth the price but i ve seen a sale with 50%off and i paied the full 54€ … or share it w a friend, its more fun with Friends
@gregoryc6656 speak for yourself. Based on Dayz alone...40$ for 10+ years of content. There was also Operation Flashpoint around 1999/2000. Great memories.
i dont play much dayz or any game at all, but i already bought it, doesn't matter if i'll play it much or not, i love the devs, feivorite interactive artists of all time
Paid full price for Livonia still kind of salt. Will be waiting for a sale but also just don’t think it adds enough to be worth its price tag. Community servers can easily adjust and implement a lot of these additions. Like a winter chernarus or winter Livonia.❤
There are lots of places for them to go. I didn't want to ruin specific things, but there's one area I personally believe people will head to for PVP similar to NWAF(but larger)
They shouldve done the big release today (Friday 11th) so people could play over the weekend. Releasing on tuesday is BS cause most ppl are working during the week
I did wonder why Tuesday was the release day myself because I agree. I assumed it was because Monday is prep day for final tweaks and tests, and then Tue-Friday they can work on any issues that may arise. Whereas releasing on Friday means the full team wont be there Sat-Sun.
I'm not even going to watch before answering. It is 10000% worth it because you love the game, and the developer needs our money to keep going. The gaming market is FULL of trash games that are overrun with cosmetic microtransactions (which Bohemia doesn't pester us with, thank God) and lacking in depth. Dayz may be broken to the point of comedy at times, but the game has depth and a true feeling of immersion that most games can't come close to. Yes, the DLC is "worth" it because you love DayZ. It's $27. You waste that on fast food in a week/month, depending on your budget. Just buy it. *edit* I started as a console player, fell in love with the game. Now playing on PC with all the modded maps and everything. I will still be purchasing and be playing on day 1.
If you can refund this, I suggest you go to it quick. Money can be spent better somewhere else, for example an orphanage where the money will be used to buy food for kids.
Or, buy DayZ, play it, and then go to the orphanage and tell all the children how great it is. Then they'll want to play it too. Might take their mind off things, they have a hard life.

I was considering it, maybe this comment will push it over the edge xD
Thank you for another great review.
Lol
I am extremely happy with the new map but I am still incredibly puzzled as to why they refuse to drastically change the building models at all
@OutSideTheBoxYT2 yeah
The infected, and the island's.
Really great for nitrado and map editor.
Bro I want my zombies to tell a story.
I'm going to enjoy frontline alot.
I love to listen to your voice, I stated to play DayZ only because of you, thank you for all❤
Thank you, genuinely, such a cool comment! I'm glad you started playing!
They need to make one of the north islands a gas zone, imagine having to get nbc and a boat so explore it
PC Player here, I am super stoked for this map to drop as Livonia was favorite vanilla map I pretty much play by self on private server just for building and survival. I think this will be a great addition it. A whole map and experience for the price of one COD skin 😂 its a no brainer.
Brainwashed man, paying half the price of the game for a map as a pc player is crazy
To each their own
You don't even know how many official maps there are bro
Been watching this map looks so Beautiful
39.99 just for a map? Damn that's to much.😐
Worth every penny it’s also like 28 dollars including taxes
How is it worth every penny
20 quid right now
@@clutchitup8565 it’s amazing 🤷♂️ it’s also very unique from every other map. Definitely the best map they have, way better than the original. I swear I get sick every 5 seconds on that map just to put myself to sleep
Def. buying once it hits Steam. Can't wait any longer!
Been playing hard-core servers for a while looking for a challenge. Bring it on! 😎
Great video man
Really really love the video !! So would you advise in regards to the springs to just take your time to investigate all your surroundings as they seem hidden ?
They're not super hidden. You should be able to find them quite easily if you go high in the North. There are a few scarring the land and they're definitely useful
i'll just wait a couple of years until it becomes a free soundtrack
This is such a amazing map for new players lmao I ran into a new player yesterday on cherno ps5 and he was sick fem eating with blood hands and had no idea why he was dying imagine a cold map that's hard ASF sense you start like this map only for og players
Always loved Dayz since 2012.... love it now... roll on
Amazing map. I won't play much Chernarus anymore when this map get released. Livonia on the other hand will still get my attention.
Always prefer livonia
@@bobrossantichrisst Yes, 3rd best map after Sakhal and Namalsk.
Livonia ? Aka dead map that nobody play even on console ....
@@tommyblais7246 The server i play on is full every evening.
@@tommyblais7246gotta find the right servers bro
Great review thankyou
thanks for posting
=]
Very nice presentation here, good video. Thumbs up.
Thank you!
Newbies that learn on Sakhal will find Chernarus super easy
Definitely, it can be done too, but it would definitely take longer
I've been preparing myself for new map cuz I have my own community server were it cold 24/7
I disagree to a point survival is the point
@@vangavrish3797Survival is the only point

It looks good. I look forward to the higher chance of running into potential human steak in my inventory lol😂
For me who just wanted a winter map for console then it’s worth it personally..
Beautiful map!!!!
I’m looking forward to modded summer Sakhal
Are you able to holster the fishing rod?! How??
Top content 🔥
Thank you!!!
what mechanics from the update will be carried into base game?
I mean "The Day Before" can't be topped regarding scam, but the price point for this gets near to it.
That's why I now only play official, we have our own server ,I can't be bothered playing on cos it's too easy. Everyone wants easy these days
Think knees touching your hands at hip level kind of exercise/work)
So I'm also guessing they don't have snow as something you can easily shoot through, because you can in real life.
When the shivering stops, you are in a BAD place (comes with confusion and disorientation)
My $0.02
bruh its a game tailored to be fast paced shoot and loot
Yeah that’s too much I like running around snapping legs getting gear not trying to break ground and have to take naps haha. Definitely cool ideas but not for official DayZ. Just so you know that’s almost all already a thing on pc with mods for this game
Dude if you eat the snow you get metal poisoning lol
As a vet in the Army do you have to look after those robotic dogs as well, or is it just the run of the mill Army animals that you care for?
No person who has ever been deployed has never said i "missed the field" your a psychopath
It’s just like the snow modded servers right?
Is there no snow on the other maps?
Not on any official ones, no.
Thanks!
Thank you so much!!!!
Bohemia adds stuff that modders have added already and have the audacity to charge for it.
1:10 - It requires a change of strategy (F11's himself)
I would honestly be more excited than i am if it wasnt for the fact that they have reused all the arma 2 buildings, might seem petty but i just cant get past how they are still using them
Support what you love if you want it to stick around.
Just hope console get more base building options
They should really starting making new maps but Europe only different sorts or survival
5 spawns 5 deaths in 15 minutes.. review 10/10
imma definately wait for ages to get it on 10% sale and save me a shit tonne of money
When does this update come out?
It's DLC out on the 15th for console and PC
I play on PS5 and i would say yes, you should. But, wait for a sale - i mean yes it is worth the price but i ve seen a sale with 50%off and i paied the full 54€ … or share it w a friend, its more fun with Friends
Bohemia is one of the few studios that deserve my $$.
Thats not true at all lol
@gregoryc6656 speak for yourself. Based on Dayz alone...40$ for 10+ years of content. There was also Operation Flashpoint around 1999/2000. Great memories.
Day 2 of sakhal already went canibal(we had no choice).
i dont play much dayz or any game at all, but i already bought it, doesn't matter if i'll play it much or not, i love the devs, feivorite interactive artists of all time
You insane? Love these devs?
What is you favorite new addition so far?
Definitely the environmental storytelling. It's next level
Kinda wish they just gave seasons to old maps
i just wish they had persistent servers. i hate how everything ends up reset after a few months in this game. just wish it was a MMO.
Playing max low temp Cherno servers on console is harder lol this will be cake
It is a little easier than namalsk right?
Good stuff
Paid full price for Livonia still kind of salt. Will be waiting for a sale but also just don’t think it adds enough to be worth its price tag. Community servers can easily adjust and implement a lot of these additions. Like a winter chernarus or winter Livonia.❤
fully geared player will be nowhere to go, so they will go to spawn areas ....
There are lots of places for them to go. I didn't want to ruin specific things, but there's one area I personally believe people will head to for PVP similar to NWAF(but larger)
And there is no problem with that. Dayz has no rules
Anyone know if they’re adding boats to chernorus also?
Yes
"you're going to need a little change of strategy" okay hmm what's the strategy?
The video showing a guy shooting himself:
Is it better than namalsk?
I personally think everyone that bought Livonia map should get a discount on Frostline..
So, they just added snow & ice. I just bought it today and servers are down all day.
Yeah map looks good. But do they have to block the comunity maps Namalsk and others to make people buy the DLC?? 😢
@@AlwaysStreams Used to be the case. Now games offer no escape and it is the early access projects like the one in your video that people should escape from.
